You can play the ball with any part of body tho.

Offside should be whether you feet are ahead of the defenders not your knee. The current offside rule is daft, stupid and need scraping asap. Just have a simple rule.

Ranaldo scored a goal with his knee the other night and Unless i have missed something I think only a goalkeeper can play the ball with their hand and only when they are in their own area

    law 11

It is not an offence to be in an offside position.

A player is in an offside position if:

    • any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents’ half (excluding the halfway line) and
    • any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent
    • The hands and arms of all players, including the goalkeepers, are not considered.

it was allot easier with the rule as it was before all this 1 phase second phase rubbish

    Great post Kamy.

Ive read and seen in German football that chaos its caused.

VAR cannot be used for judgement calls like whether players were tripped in the box. I still think Ali were tripped yesterday. Other will disagree.

The Offside decision that ruled out Mata's goal were straight has he was in line but it was given cos his hand/arm were offside. Crazy.

Offside decisions need to very clear and fans need to hear the conversation between the officials.

Still not in favour of VAR in Football.

You can only be offside if a part of your body that you can play the ball with is offside an arm or hand will not count it was Mata`a knee which was offside .

  3. Another thing about VAR is it shows how much they care about the paying fans they just leave every one in the ground in the dark about what's going on, it seems to be all about the TV spectator .At least in rugby league they put something up on the scoreboards .

I’ve watched the 3 minute highlights on the BBC website and read the BBC match report from which I quote:

But referee Jonathan Moss liaised with video official Mike Jones, who told him Nathan Pond's trailing foot was keeping Iheanacho onside, and the goal was awarded 67 seconds after it hit the back of the net.”

”Trailing foot?” Come on let’s have a bit of common sense. Goal line technology, yes, I get that though there seem to be very, very few ocassions when it’s required. A trailing foot? We are being conned this is taking the mick. Presumably the 67 seconds are added to the end of the match? If all six substitutes *** are used in a game this adds 3 minutes, a couple of injury stoppages can add another 2-3 minutes,  add two VARs for another 2 minutes and it doesn’t take long for games to regularly have 7-8 minutes of extra time. How long is it going to take before fans get very unhappy over their team losing matches in the 98th minute?

*** I know the calculation relies on six subs in the second half but 4-5 is not uncommon.

Excessive transfer fees. Disgusting wages. Idiot motor mouth managers. Ridiculous levels of over analysis. Agents. Endless idiot pundits. Cheating players. Poor officials. Now VAR and trailing legs.

The game has lost itself in blur of incredible sums of money most of which is totally wasted on transfer fees, agents and wages.

VAR is just another nail in a coffin which for me was sealed and buried several years ago.

I’ll always support the Rovers but that’s all. Totally lost interest in any other football.

Apologies but I needed to rant about the destruction of the once beautiful game.

so its ok to be offside with part of your foot but not ok to be onside by the same distance the decision was correct

Great credit due to the boys today. Mulgrew is some leader. Dack  fulfilling his potential. A clean sheet would be nice but look if we concede but still win I would take that anyway. Moved up another spot in the table today. Great days work. Relax now and get for Crewe next is it? If not Charlton at home. Massive game. Onwards and upwards. ?

I bet if Dack goes out tonight in london there will be no moaners on here not like earlier in the season probably a few who would buy his drinks as well.

Lewis Travis and Jack Doyle are two to keep an eye on.  Both can play full-back or wide midfield.  Tomlinson and Hardcastle are developing into pretty decent midfielders and Fisher is another really good prospect in goal.  Nuttall of course has that golden knack of being in the right place at the right time to score - he looks a natural in that position.   In truth these players simply come together as a team with everyone knowing their role and executing it.  When players are missing, other lads seem to come and the team continues to play the same way without any disruption.  It's the complete opposite of the first team.  Callum Wright is one of the younger end and is starting to look very good - scored an absolute screamer last night.  To be honest Tyrone I much prefer watching this side that Johnson and Dunny are running to the seniors.  Even if we don't win you know you'll be entertained with fast, flowing football.

Charley Doyle has come on as well this season I like the way he can seamlessly move and slot in any role mid game be it at the back or in midfield, not the finished article yet but looks to be improving this year.

He could very well have talent. But he could also be the best of a bad youth team...I don't know. What I do know is West Brom where very short in midfield when he played, they only gave him a two year deal and have shipped him out for a season of that.He doesn't play in a higher age group for England. He could turn out to be a player but at 17 I'm not expecting him to make a telling contribution in which case the signing only serves from preventing our own contracted youth gaining experience

West brom might have sent him out to get experience in a better u23 team

Only registered players who are eligible for first tean selection can play for EFL teams in the EFL Trophy.......I think

I think it states cat1 academy players are eligible, rules probably  did not foresee a third tier team with a cat1 adademy

The last time I saw the first team squad numbers Nuttall didn't have one. I know they can be registered but surely this lad deserves one and as you quite rightly say some first team involvement. Antonsson was played as the lone striker on Wednesday and looked like a lost little boy. Nuttall has some physical presence and scores goals.

    Strange really.

They probably signed Antonsson based on Nuttalls record over the last couple of seasons if they had gone with just Nuttall as a first team signing this forum would have gone into meltdown.

He better had start in what is an Academy biased competition.

Joe needs to be given some first team bench time and usage.

I think you will find it is a competition for the 2 lower leagues and they have invited academy sides for the last 2 years ,
