    Spot on my friend!!

Let's go shit or bust. We have nothing else to lose now.

Bring in Hughton or Hughes, give them a blank cheque book and let's go for it!!

Pretty much yes mate - if we don’t we will have an empty stadium , little more than a shell of a club owned by Indian chicken farmers who have run up debts of Half a billion in ten years time ....... and probably Mowbray still here telling the LT that this weekends game against Solihull Moors is tough because they’ve got good players !!!! Feck me I’m depressing myself

week after week we see the same players make the same mistakes, mowbray has`nt got the minerals to drop them or ship them out,for someone who was a trenchant defender who would head bricks to stop a goal,he`s got strange management style,i hope barnsley don`t turn up with a big centre forward who likes a physical battle,we be f****d!!

Lol - you mean like that giant Woodrow , their centre forward ???!

I suspect “proper go” meant spending more than just the Brereton & Gallagher fees, though TBTF would have to confirm.
If it didn’t, then by definition having spent that dosh we have had a “proper go” but just made a botch of it...which is a separate problem needing a separate solution.

There seems no logical pattern or strategy to what we are doing . The point I was trying to make ( probably poorly) was that we lose £20mill every year , waste £15m on strikers and then can’t sign any defenders / proper quality keeper . We will get to the £39mill maximum loss for ffp anyway . Why don’t they put 2 fingers up , bring a top proven manager in and give him £50m in one go and damn the consequences ? Whatever the fine it would probably we worth it overall if they got to the PL , got proper money and actually then have a PL club to sell . That way at least they’d get something decent back for the boat loads they have spent so far . The way we are going we will be stuck losing money every year and stuck with the threat of embargo so in effect we just can’t manoeuvre from the nightmare we are currently in .

Well, we finished 2 points off the play offs in 2014, thanks to a 12 or so game unbeaten run to end the season. Even in that run we do what we always do and bottled it when we got close, 3-1 up at Sheffield Wed to draw 3-3 in the last minute, then Brighton scored a last minute equaliser to draw 3-3 at Ewood.

Then the year after, the best side we have had since relegation in my opinion, we finished 11 points off the play offs, so I have to agree that a "real manager" and not somebody learning there trade would have certainly gotten us into that top six that season.

Now though, the squad is far too unbalanced to be near the play offs, it would take two really good transfer windows from a really good manager to get this side challenging next season. There's no way Mowbray would do it, and I can't see Venkys employing anyone good enough to do it either.

We are truly screwed as long as they remain here, which they will do for a long time yet.

I’m don’t disagree but the current rate of annual losses to fund the club will mean In Ten years time , Venkys will be close to having £0.5billion invested in Rovers.... half a feckin billion .!!

now we have debated many times why they don’t have a proper go to try to get to the PL which would at least see them recover something if they sold it but this slow death is just impossible to comprehend. But however wealthy they are you have to think that the plug is gonna get pulled before they get to those sort of numbers .Then what ???
so for all those who thank Venkys for keeping paying the bills I suggest there needs to be a stop and think moment.

    This can’t continue indefinitely.

  5. What the hell is that Mowbray 1000 days article in today’s LT ? Is it just me or is Mowbray some genius manager who has saved our Club? It’s like he’s some kind of messiah reading that . Christ we are in a relegation scrap for the short term at least and yet there is more babble about us being in far better shape than when he arrived . Really? Considering what he’s spent ?

another classic LT article no doubt prescribed by the clubs own spin doctors . Its like we’ve been dropped into the Trueman Show

    Our Championship status.

At the moment, as dull as it is and as obvious it is that a change in the dugout is required, we still remain a member of the 2nd tier, one good season away from the Premier League. Unlikely to happen under these idiots yes, but possible.

A return to League One would be horrific in many ways.

The job of being Rovers manager is one for an experienced gaffer who knows the duties, expectations and pressure of being a boss at this level or higher. Particularly when handling the extra baggage of the idiots in Pune and the sham board of directors.

Weve seen this with the spells of Kean, Berg, Appleton and to a lesser extent Bowyer.

I've no doubt that they will be desperate for Johnson to step into the managers office after Mowbray. I think this will be for a few reasons. Firstly he's already here and under contract which removes the need to conduct a comprehensive and potentially expensive recruitment process. Secondly they appear to still have delusions of being able to circumvent the transfer market by using all our own homegrown players and enhancing their values ready for sale. Sadly that isnt compatible with success on the pitch and will likely relegate us sooner rather than later.

No other club does it. Do we know better than everyone else? Almost certainly not. Only a few clubs have gone with the promote a reserve coach to manager routine and none have lasted or ended well. The best there has been is Bowyer here and most people wanted him gone after a couple of years.

I worry that the worse it gets under Mowbray that it will become more acceptable for us to take the easy option with Johnson and for it to be sold to the fans as a logical step.

I don't dislike the bloke and saw what a good job he did with the u23s but my interest is in what is best for Blackburn Rovers not for one mans career or as a reward for hard work.

The manager job is crucial and we need to explore the world in search of the best man for the job. Not just take the easiest option because we've a nice bloke who did well with the reserves already here.

    Totally agree JHR.

no doubt DJ is well thought of and is probably a very good coach and developer of good talent . But he’s never been on the frontline . U23s is not the frontline .

our frontline , in the championship ( for now), in a toxic club, run by idiots from 6000 miles away with zero power in the UK or a board that are complete puppets is a long way beyond a guy who has never been exposed to that before . One of those single elements is bad enough but we have all of them!!

Mowbray is a clown who needs to go but DJ isn’t that man to replace him - at least not yet .
The next guy must be a very strong and forthright disciplinarian which is the complete opposite character of what Suhail or Venkys want here . Hence the reason we are well and truly in the mire.

I mentioned this when I had a meeting with LT and SW offer fans some flexibility said they'd consider it then did nothing else about it

“But we’ve done everything we can to re engage the missing fans “. Aye ok , total and utter muppets running that club .
Different spin when they’ve got guys with all the costs of going to Singapore and the Big Apple trying to forge relationships and build the Rovers brand . Ignore the ones here under their noses and continue to treat them with contempt ( fleecing would be another word for it).

I have just lost all my love for something I’ve lived for and supported for 50 years . It’s been drained out of me by some absentee landlords and the catalogue of idiots and chancers who continue to turn up , know nothing about the Club or it’s heritage and spout complete tripe- Mowbray included .

wrong thread apology from me if required.

Completely agree, to be honest that would suit me down to the ground as I rarely make midweek games, and will probably miss the two games over Christmas this year.

I probably make an average of 14/15 home games a season despite having a season ticket, so it's something I would definitely look at.

And therein lies the problem Mark . Waggott will be crapping  himself that those like you who currently buy a full ST will downgrade to a lesser offer at which point his stretch target bollox which no doubt gets reported to India etc will be down the pan .

The fact that an offer of that type might attract 12000 people will be lost on him ......” but what about if they all choose the Millwall home game to stay away Madam and there’s only 5000 in the stadium ?”

“speak to Suhail about it Steve , I have some chickens to throttle “

He will take a 1-2 defeat and spend next week saying we were away to a top side and ran them close and it’s a league of fine margins . Just watch . The bloke is deluded . I really wish he was playing football with his kids in the garden on a Saturday afternoon like he keeps referring to . He made more of an impact at the bloody Diwali thing than he does on the team . He's been in football long enough to know who are the leaders are in the game. As far as I can see he's hardly signed a one. In my book players come in two categories - The group of players who can get you on top in a game and the other group of players who will play well once the first group have got them in a position to do so. Mowbray has signed too many that fit into the second group and not enough that fit into the first group.

Tyrone , I think we need more analysis booths so our scouting dept can do proper research !!
Like you say , he should know what he’s signing .How many times do we hear managers say they looked deeply into the character of a player before signing him?

Another shooting of his own foot by Mowbray By the sounds of it .

just why does he spout this absolute crap so often ?? There’s no benefit in saying it so why say it at all ?? If it was Mourinho saying the same stuff you’d swear it was a deliberate wind up tactic .

Would have to be 3), however, you would need a manager who knew what he was doing and, IMO, Mowbray is most certainly not that man.  You buy quality with a resale value not, IMO, dross like Armstrong, Brereton and Gallagher.

Agree - if these morons are as wealthy as we all think and their indifference to £200million of debt suggests they might be then I don’t get why they don’t do a proper job in hiring a proper manager and bankrolling is into the PL. that’s the only way they will get any significant sum back .Alternatively it’s death by a thousand cuts and ten years from now we’ll be saying the same things but half a billion in debt.

makes zero sense and never has .

At the end of last season, Mowbray highlighted our defensive frailties..

Sold Raya, downgraded to Walton- a massive downgrade at that. Read the reviews on the Brentford forums- "Best signing in recent years". I'm not surprised Raya pushed to leave after the grief Mowbray gave him and dropping him at the end of last season to boot...

Cunningham- excellent signing but now injured- not TM fault

Tosin- Hard to judge, looks okay- is he the leader we need at the back?

Letting Mulgrew leave was a monumental mistake- again, getting good reviews at his new club...

Lenihan- injury-prone as anything, we had exactly the same issues last season and no replacement...

I was really excited to crack on this season, but that excitement dissipated when Raya left for next to nothing- go on, tell me a better keeper his age for that price- absolutely shocking management letting him leave for that.

We're left with a bloody awful defence marshalled by an ever worse keeper- We've gone back to the days of Steele who single-handedly relegated us, before doing the same to Sunderland...

The squad is so unbalanced it's untrue- how many midfielders?

Then he persists in playing tosh- leaving the likes of Rothwell to rot on the bench but for the odd cameo whilst 'Benno' is facilitated all over the pitch at the expense of anyone- nothing against Bennett,  solid enough player, I just don't understand how he merits a start every game other than his work-rate.

Then we have the 10-13 million spent on Gallagher and Brereton- Christ, that's some money for a clun in our predicament, Gally I feel may pay off- Brereton is yet to show me anything that even moderately justifies such a price tag...

On the other hand, TM got us back up at the first attempt of asking- no mean feat that, look at Sunderland!

He's also signed some cracking players: Dack and Rothwell spring to mind, whilst giving young talent such as Nyambe, Travis, Buckley, Costello opportunities.

I do feel TM has the best intentions of the club at heart.  In my mind at least he's steady the ship and re-built a much improved, albeit imbalanced squad to the one that was relegated..

I'd loathe seeing Tony leave the club. I think he's exactly what we need, but perhaps as a director of football.

I really hope he turns our season around, but I find that difficult to see given how he can't see or correct some glaring errors.

I don't see us going down- not at all, mid-table again, which perhaps is about right for us? Maybe we're all expecting too much- but then I look at teams like Charlton, Cardiff etc punching above their weight and it makes me wonder why we can't be doing that..

on the balance of things, do I want him to go? If we can bring in a Chris Hughton, Wagner or Hughes, I'd gamble. All this talk of Damien Johnson though fills me with absolute dread!

After what we have seen of him know of him as a manager in what universe does he look like a director of football ffs?

his transfer dealings are shambolic , his tactics are worse and he spouts utter drivel on a daily basis .

i have no clue where anybody who hasn’t been drinking heavily can think he’s DoF material.

Just shows how desperate he is, when he's reaching to those depths to try and defend the shit he's serving up. We should NEVER have been in League 1 in the first place. The only reason we ended up there was because of the horrific decision to appoint Owen Coyle. Mowbray proved when he came in that we had enough to survive, and in almost any other season 51 points would have seen us stay up comfortably. We romped out of League 1 without even playing well because our players were far too good for that division and didn't even need to be anywhere near their best to win most matches. We literally sold nobody from a team that got 51 points the previous season in the Championship, bought the best player in League 1 and then a bunch of other players who were pretty much all playing at Championship level before they came here. Downing the only major exception I can think of off the top of my head.

Even with all of those advantages, and I believe the highest wage bill in the division by some disance, we still had to settle with finishing second.

Grateful to get out of League 1 at the first attempt, but we had a lot going for us and were far too good for that division. It would have been an epic and unforgiveable failure if we hadn't gotten promoted. I think Mowbray pretty much said that himself at the time, so to now bring it up as if we're a newly promoted lower league team getting to grips with the fearsome Championship is nonsense. Stop coming up with ridiculous excuses and just admit this is not good enough!

    It’s beyond words .

whatever credit this idiot had in the bank - and that’s more to do with his demeanour off the field than on it - it’s rapidly disappearing . I always thought his conservatism was the thing that failed to stop relegation ;we had enough about us to stay up .But that’s all in the past .

however this bloke is now in way over his head and it’s the ramblings of a lunatic . He has shown nothing on any level to suggest he can manage his way out of the current situation . A couple of results would clearly help but we all know that any redemption would be purely temporary because the bloke has ‘ gone’.

He needs putting out of misery quickly for everyone’s sake .

The truly galling thing is the mutes who masquerade as our board are impotent and will be thinking that any rocking of boats might rebound on their own cosy positions. I bet they are crapping themselves desperate for some miracle . In Tony we trust my ass.

I genuinely think he’s just lost it , lock stock and barrel . In any other industry if the top guy was coming out with this bollocks you’d stand him down and send him on a long holiday for his own good .

i really do think we are at that point and with fans ready to turn on him it could break the guy . I think it’s gone past him being just crap , I think we are on the brink of mental illness .

I think it will need to be pretty bad for him to get the boot. It has the feeling he has all his friends in the high enough places to keep him in charge for quite a while, until it gets really bad, and im talking in the relegation places for a while.

Venkys are not football people, whether we lose to Preston or even if it was a 10-0 loss to burnley they wouldn't be thinking lets sack him. It will need to be relegation looking stuff for that I think.

In 3 games time it absolutely will be pal

I’m relatively new to the game (a Texan, & Rovers fan for six plus years), so some of you who are more knowledgeable students of the game than myself, please tell me, what is Mowbray’s specialty?

is he good at setting up his offense to score?

is he good at devising defenses that keep other teams out?

is he a great motivator, or evaluator of talent?

Because I’m not seeing any of the above. I know the guy must have something going for him, as he got M’bro & WBA promoted, and then us, but what exactly does this guy do well?

    1) He gets good jobs for his mates

    2) he can lie with impunity

Our defence is fucked. Cunningham out all season (still might hang around for some reason, I assume we paid a loan fee and are therefore committed to the full season loan and wages so he might as well stay here since the lads love him so much...). Lenihan for 8 weeks. Hart out. Grayson out for a couple of months or so. Bennett a game from suspension. Williams and Tosin are injury prone. Right down to the bare bones, and we were shit at the back before any of this happened.

We absolutely need to be scouring the free agent market for a CB, now.

Don’t disagree but 12 games in I doubt many will be match fit and in Tony’s regime he doesn’t pick them for 6 months even when they are
