we`ve got scott wharton, ayala, carter, barnes(who jdt speaks highly of) and the "future england international!!!" ash phillips as well as hyam, whats the point of having all these young players if you don`t play them,is`nt it greg the egg`s plan to develop them and sell them on,they ar`nt going to develop sitting on the bench or  mincing around in the u23`s,similarly they ar`nt going to increase in value unless we start scoring goals and winning games, something you can`t do if you have a **** poor midfield and a pop gun attack

Scott Wharton been miles off it, Ayala is class but is on big money and isn’t a young pup anymore, Carter not good enough for a team supposedly going for top six and Barnes and Phillips not ready yet.

Porteous would be a class signing.

we don`t need any defenders, ffs has everyone at brockhall finally completely lost the plot,we need midfielders and a centre forward,as for diaz,if it`s true, what a way to run a business, buy someone for 7 million and then let him go for peanuts, this must be the new regime that has a definative plan for the future🤣

To be fair I respect the forward planning, Porteous is a great replacement for an ageing Ayala on big money. Hopefully BBD is the last time an asset leaves us for free. We do desperately need a centre mid and a striker though.

Does anyone know what Gelhardt's strengths and weaknesses are? would he suit how Rovers play under JDT?

smart recruitment and this is the type of signing we should be making. targeting players with less than 12 months left on the contract. Low fees. Rovers need to use this market more.

What are his strengths and weaknesses Mike?

Guess it depends who available and the budget we have.

Gelhardt suits a team that likes to press from the front from what I’ve seen and read, think he’d be a good fit for us. Leeds fans rate him very highly.

We have different options on the bench today.

Morton and Garrett suits each other games and bring in very different qualities to Rovers

Told you mate, if we’re gunna play 2 in the middle we need two men in there not two boys. We are crying out for a physical presence in the middle of the park, I think we’ll be bringing another centre mid in. It’s the weakest area of our team.

Based on the team news from JDT, my team would be

                     Kaminski

    JRC Carter Hyam Pickering

          Morton Garrett

    Hedges    Dack    BBD

                   Gallagher

Subs:- Pears, Phillips, Edun, Travis, Dolan, Vale, Markanday

I would not risk Ayala for this game

Having Dolan and Markanday on the bench is two decent enough options to bring on, Dolan is always good to bring on when looking to see a game out due to his work-rate. I can see another 1-0 away win tomorrow, we’ll go in front and see it out, Dack to bag.

That is one weak central midfield though, highlights the fact we need more of a physical presence in there but I still think we should have enough to beat a hopeless Rotherham side. Nothings ever that easy following Rovers though 😂

  6. Anyone any ideas at all on who we could be looking at to replace Hirst? Jamal Lowe from Bournemouth on loan is the only name that springs to mind for me.

I know we were linked at one point to Ross Stewart at Sunderland, good player but how much will he cost? Ellis Simms also recalled by Everton from Sunderland, he’d be a great signing also although I don’t know what his situation is and why Everton recalled him early.

Weve got four pretty decent albeit young central midfielders who can be used interchangeably (Morton, Buckley, Garett, Adam Wharton). We only have one centreforward - Gallagher, who has also had a lot of injury issues.

Id say the priority is going to be a number 9

I take your point, young and talented lads as they are I don’t think any are “top six” quality. We’re crying out for an experienced solid presence in the middle of the park, although I fully agree another striker should be high on the list.

I'm glad Broughton and JDT have accepted that he isn't good enough even after hanging their hats on the bizarre 'number one target all summer' quote. There's nothing wrong with admitting a mistake, in fact there's a lot wrong with refusing to.

Tony Mowbray springs to mind at the last sentence.

I wonder if we see new forward/wide player join this week now Hirst gome

Central midfielder should be the priority but another striker also needed. I’d take Jamal Lowe on loan from Bournemouth but I think there will be a lot of championship clubs queuing up for him.

  10. I said it when he was here, unbelievable shot stopper who will go on to play for a big club in the prem.

On to current times though and Trav looked leggy again today, we are desperate for a new centre mid in there, just give me someone who can put a tackle in, is mobile and can play a pass. Or am I asking for too much there? 😂

Second on the list another striker to replace Hirst who’s going to Ipswich, Jamal Lowe from Bournemouth on loan potentially.

Get those two positions filled we might just have a sniff of staying around the top six, another right back is needed long-term but I don’t mind JRC playing there till Brittain is back, he’s been much improved has JRC.

Yup, absolutely phenomenal player. On his day could do things I've only really seen the likes of Thierry Henry do... that goal against Boro was ridiculous.

Shame he was a nut case, as if he'd had his head screwed on he would have been one of the Premier League all time greats. Instead he bounced around, had periods of top class form (like he did with  us) and then would sit out long periods on the bench.

Nothing to do with the fact he was a bit of a nut case, that made him a better player. It was injuries that hampered Bellamy.

Lets hope JDT sees sense and hangs on to Dack and Buckley, they are part of Blacburn Rovers.Rumour has it Mowbray is after both of them. This team has potential, JDT is chopping and changing in his first season as manager, looking for his best team.

Lazy paper talk that, Sunderland wouldn’t be able to afford Buckley and in terms of Dack I’m not sure they’d be able or willing to pay the wages he’s on here.

Dolan and Buckley have worked their socks off. Dack has played well. We look a better team four at the back than we do five. As far as I’m concerned the following are key players, the rest are up for debate…

    Kaminski

    Brittain Hyam ? Pickering

    ? ?

    Gallagher ? Brereton

    Dolan

A fully fit Ayala gets in there over Scott Wharton ten times out of ten.

Yeah, would love to see a A Wharton/ Buckley in the middle. On their day that would be probably the best CM duo in the league.

Jesus Christ, I’m all for backing our own lads and those two are good promising young players but F**k me that’s a ridiculous claim. We need to sign an experienced physical presence in central midfield in Jan to play alongside ONE of Wharton/Buckley/Morton.
