  1. I agree, especially since we have 0 out and out wingers at the club. Will be a good backup/squad option
  2. I personally don’t think you can compare one or the best of all time with a Le Tiss. Dont get me wrong, I think Le Tissier was fantastic, great shot and technique but his consistency and level never touched ZiZu, in any form. He knew he would’ve flopped outside of Southampton because he never had the fitness/attitude you need ON TOP of the natural technique and ability.
  3. Hopefully. I hope too that these are well scouted, young, hungry and players with the correct personality. TM said he worked on experience and advice from colleagues last season, according to him and Waggott, they’ve a better setup in place so hopefully that will help. Also - loans can be made up to the 31st of August, (as opposed to new early transfer window) so I expect that business to happen after the first window is closed. Certain players won’t be available until the season starts and they aren’t in the first team.
  4. The comments in paper today suggest TM wants new permenants sorted by 25th of June for Austria tour if possible.
  5. Irony. You’re complaining about adding to debate - what on earth does that add? Im sure you could’ve easily made the point to Gladwingone that some league one or Scottish/Irish league players would be an improvement, I even gave your “boy” Rhodes as an example - signed from division 3 - did well here. You should know that - remember when you argued with any criticism of Jordan, again.... and again.... and again....! Just for you though, I found a better Eye Rolling picture for replacing the previous one. Custom made. Dont thank me.
  6. Obviously not.. However you can understand my confusion if you’ve not been directly quoted AND he’s referring to “English arrogance”... as you ain’t English. Apologies either way.
  7. I was responding to dry horse who i assumed was replying to WUM because of Irish/Scottish players jibe.
  8. It’s perfect. Aren’t you at all going to point out how stupid the quoted post is or do you accept that sort of “wummery?”
  9. Don’t put the rest of us in with that moron. Some of my favourite players are/were Scottish.
  10. Why is it that most people who consider themselves to be “boycotters” expect big signings, lots of money spent and have high expectations? Surely those things are irrelevant to people who are only concerned with the prospect of new owners? Surely, those who say NAPM wouldn’t care if the owners spent money or not? As Bob Fleming pointed out, the veil slips so often with “MGPINSERTNEWNAMESLAYER” and Jal that they’re both a complete laughing stock. Real world indeed..
  11. No 3rd division player? You mean like Jordan Rhodes? Or even Dack.
  12. I do see some reasoning behind the frustration at suggestion of half the teams have parachutes, it’s obviously more like 4/5 will have a serious advantage in turnover. I agree that they won’t invest that much though, but I disagree with you on the basis that I wouldn’t want them to put our wage bill back up to 200%. I know you may say that’s not you “want” either but I’d personally stay in the scenario with them keeping losses to a minimum, the less we owe them, the easier we are to find a new owner, the more likely we are to keep the facilities/academy running. The investments in youth/academy/scouting are a long term solution to returning to the premier league.
  13. Even with “Coyle’s” team, (that most would agree was worse than this lot) TM would’ve had us mid table by averaging his points in those first few months. Yes, it probably cost more and a few of the loanees had premier league experience - but this team has shown twice the spirit and effort. We simply haven’t got the same ability to spend more on wages because the lack of turnover namely parachutes, however we no longer carry a burden of an over paid hangover - which many of those “big” teams will be suffering from. It’s not an excuse, it’s a fact. Much like when we had parachutes - we had an advantage but squandered it (deliberately..) negligently. With some clever investments in key areas, I don’t see why any team in the division can be promoted - at the same time, it’s not too uncommon to see one of those expensive teams flopping at the bottom either. Question for you JHR; do you expect/want the Rao family to invest the type of wages/transfer fees that Wolves/Fulham/Boro/Derby have recently?
  14. Nsiala constantly looks on the brink of a red card for me, certainly think he looks a good prospect but I think he is very raw.
  15. I’ve watched them both a similar amount of times and I prefer Byrne. He did spend a year here before, but I can’t remember him getting a chance so not able to completely write off.
  16. A few have mentioned Jon Nolan from Shrewsbury, but I watched him give the ball away so many times yesterday that I’d rather us look elsewhere. What about Jack Byrne from Oldham? Young, hungry and likely cheap - released after coming through the youth ranks at city, also played for all the Roi youth teams. When I watched him away at boundary park, he ran the show. Energetic, had bite and variation of pass.
  17. On Conway; The suggestion of keeping a settled but aging backup on a nominal wage for a season, who has previously played well in the championship; no brainer to me. If we had a few more wide players, I’d probably take @K-Hod ‘s tone of “no wastage” but in this scenario, Craig offers backup to a position we have zero depth. Perfect example of a professional too- we aren’t talking about someone with questionable motives for carrying on or a chequered past with the club. Fantastic role model for any signings or youth progression. Having this kind of backup and character around, is necessary imo, the lack of that seniority was just another example from the list of issues with early Venky ownership - Emerton, Nelsen et al disappearing without sentiment or utilisation. Keeping CC on a modest wage is a sure fire way of ensuring an able backup and helping the next lot settle effectively.
  18. I disagree. 21 year old, eye for goal, pace and energy, good attitude and scored a decent amount in league one from the wide positions... He will have plenty of suitors at championship level if he’s affordable. I’d expect him to cost at least twice that and I think he’d be worth it.
  19. “The Rovers boss met with the Rao family to finalise plans ahead of the 2018/19 season and is optimistic about their chances in the second tier.” I agree the paper has no credibility these days but it did read as “post” to me.
  20. I guess that’s the beauty of a forum. I read that article, quite interested as it’s the first interview after the meeting with the Rao’s, and an “optimistic” TM mentions adding quality and the top half as a target.
  21. Yea, plus the message seems quite clear to me at least; plenty of options and potential in the u23 but will need a few quality additions to challenge top half. Hardly a “mixed message”.
