  1. There’s a podcast (think it’s called “I had trials” or something) with him on last week, talking about it, plus his experiences at rovers.
  2. Maybe it’s not all as bad as many make out. I’ve said since January that since GB, this is make or break for Rudy. I felt too early to judge. VI is his man.
  3. Rovers losses makes sense, I assumed you meant Venkys own business losses, and taking money out of the club, not putting it in. Commercial is the obvious one, aka overall income / turnover. Better management would improve that - I’m not sure it would be enough to put us into a position to have a lot more competitive salaries though.
  4. You make a lot of content, it’s difficult not to see your stuff first. It’s invariably revisionist, goal post moving stuff that just irks, and as you know, has done for probably a decade. Decent signing, we’d agree - that’s the neutral observation. We needed and wanted a left sided centreback, he’s at peak, cheaper than he’s probably worth. I don’t see any issue.
  5. Well done pointing out an issue already, I thought your biggest issue with the others was championship experience.
  6. Steve Waggott’s piece de resistance. (Please don’t tell me it wouldn’t get spent on players but)… doesn’t anyone know how much we’d get if he did get sold for 100m
  7. Venky losses? Could you explain that for me.
  8. Playing in a new strip to launch it at a friendly is contentious? I think it would be easier to write a list of things that don’t annoy a few of you. I just don’t get the problem.
  9. It’s a write off statement to say “wait till you’ve seen them in action”, and there are lists of obscure European (and further afield) players we, and others have signed over the years that have been great. That doesn’t mean it’s not a risk btw, I’d agree with that but I still think there’s potential in the approach. Tronstad and Ohashi - both very good recent examples of signings for peanuts. Whilst I’m sure people can say they have different pedigrees, some players just work with managers, systems etc. That Dack (thought it was relevant because he’d mainly played 3rd/4th tier when we signed him) article I read earlier summed up his form for rovers, his love for Mowbray and the way he was paired with Danny Graham played a big part in his (and our) success.
  10. Definitely agree on the last point, and it’s still boggles the brain how they passed that test. Pompey are a good example because of what they went through and what it took them a to get back to this level. I’m sure we’d both prefer watching Rovers fighting its way back but being directed and run by people who have a vested interest and care for the club? We’d all take any level of football I think, for a degree of pride and expectation of being well run, not an expectation of the next fuck up due to ignorance.
  11. Great to see some Swiss ramble in this thread
  12. One of the reasons people have said they won’t entertain a sale is they want some money back.
  13. You don’t think being fan owned is a sensible proposition but you think a sensible response is “do what everyone else has done and just get better owners”. The way you make it sound, it should be easy to sort, crack on.
  14. I agree, he also seems to want the club to be cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face. If the future is a fan owned or least local investment shared with that, then Rovers need to be in the realm of being fiscally safe, not adding more debt to the owners, who seemingly have a ridiculous expectation to get back their investments.
  15. * Yuki Ohashi: July 31, 2024 * Makhtar Gueye: July 30, 2024 * Todd Cantwell: August 30, 2024
  16. You mean like JDT or Eustace?
  17. I saw a quote tweet here on that but I wouldn’t believe it, plus it’s also conceivable that Rudy et al are lying to VI. However I’d argue the most likely outcome is he’s been offered something and he’s waiting for a better offer. It’s hardly his fault that the club aren’t proactive or attempting to be more competitive with wages. It’s just nice to hear the manager actually say it. Eustace never said anything of such and just left, and JDT repeatedly blamed the project changing without much depth after every defeat.
  18. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25310915.blackburn-rovers-boss-hint-travis-tronstad-contracts/ Really refreshing how honest and open VI is
  19. You made a good point that VI rightly wanted stuff sorting early. But this is daft - if those three are 90% of his wage bill, no wonder we’re screwed, it would put all three of them on around 6m a season 😂
  20. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/blackburn-rovers-urged-to-sell-callum-brittain-to-middlesbrough-after-pre-season-flashpoint/ Well said Simon!
  21. I’ve not had much good or bad to say about Jackson, but this is possibly the shittest article I’ve ever seen a “journalist” conceive.
