Quote for the first? A loans manager is regarding outward going loans from my experience. This isn’t about Jordan going to find us loans for the first team, that’s the scouting teams job. A loan manager from my experience finds places suitable for your younger players to get experience.
-
Nope. Remarkable example of how fickle some of our fans are. When Rudy has had 5 years to achieve little to nothing, been part of umpteen players to leave due to contract issues and overseen back to back winter transfer windows with deals falling down due to paperwork, I’ll join you on this comment.
-
If these comments to people are genuinely true and they have evidence - it shouldn’t be on here. It should be reported. Until it is reported and acted on, it’s online tittle tattle as far as I’m concerned. The fact it’s accusing someone of forcing religion on others is incredibly divisive too. Speculating on people’s religion too is also just not appropriate in my eyes, it’s got nothing to do with it.

Don’t take this personally Mike, you’ve never been in an academy, you’ve never done the YTS, you’ve never been on loan, or played at multiple levels of the EFL, you’ve never been transferred, you don’t have connections throughout the league through family, network and former employers and finally you’ve never had the responsibility of playing for championship level teams on a regular basis. All of those things make his experience a hell of a lot more important than your own and all of those things should be useful to a club that has an u21 / u18 setup absolutely chock full of players. Edit - apologies for the large text but whenever I try and type more than two sentences here these days, a pop up crashes the screen and I have to start again. Great website lads.

Rudy has put his money where his mouth is at least, if we (expectedly) drop like a stone, this is his manager and it’s his team. He will be responsible, same in the unlikely event it goes the other way. I must admit, for a website that’s common theme is rightfully “we can’t go anywhere with Venkys”, we do love to shoot the messengers, and please don’t bring up this he said she said stuff, I’ve had it up to the brim.

But as pointed out - many of these roles, even in the prem, are taken up by “graduate” coaches / scouts. Carlton Cole and Johnny Evans for example.

I’ve said it multiple times, and in the main post - if you’ve an ambitious owner who hires expertise, you don’t end up with a black hole throughout the transfer window and then take a punt on someone without experience. That said, like a few others probably feel - I like to a certain extent the potential appointment based on his previous exemplary service, and his potential knowledge / links in the game. I find it so hard to understand why there can’t be nuance sometimes. -

If you think a 32 year old analyst, or a someone with u15s level academy coaching experience is a huge step up on Jordan, then that’s up to you! -

Quick 1 min AI research - always take the results with a pinch of salt but many of those would fall into the same group; Premier League * Sam Hayball (Arsenal) - Previously a video and match analyst for Arsenal. * Josh Marsh (Chelsea) - Formerly held scouting and managing director roles. * Gary Probert (Liverpool) - Was Director of Football Operations at Ipswich Town. * Jonny Evans (Manchester United) - Recently retired player for the club. * Carlton Cole (West Ham) - Former striker, has worked with the academy. * Will Antwi (Tottenham Hotspur) - Ex-professional player, coached England's U15 team. * Paul Furlong (Queens Park Rangers) - Former QPR player, coached previously for QPR I agree to an extent, the most ambitious clubs aren’t hiring a novice for this role, which is a modern requisite - especially teams with large investment in youth. I think Chelsea had 30+ players on loan a few seasons. However I agree more with parsonblue - this is a sensible, whilst likely cheap, appointment of someone who could be an asset for that role. Also, as this took till after the window closed to sort out, that again shows what we’re up against with the current main CEO. -

Genuine guy, connection to the club, worked his way through the leagues, has family (and hopefully the connections that come with) in the game. I can’t see it as a problem really. Better than a black hole. -

My own personal nickname for him at times was Cryam, and that’s probably harsh but he certainly would point fingers at others and through is toys out the pram at times. Telling the crowd to calm down also an unforgivable thing to do. His form in the run up to the 7th finish under JDT was typical of this. That said, whilst I think they may have overpaid - Wrexham are getting an established championship player with a good injury record. We are relying on two who aren’t that yet, and it’s a gamble I would never have taken. -

Got to agree. We’re at the “I hope at least one of the two regularly injured players can play 90 mins a week till the window opens”. Selling hyam at that point of the window was a criminal error that will more than likely cost us. I hope I’m wrong. -

Bit of research on the question you pose. I agree massively with the last sentence that is in bold, and that’s what we should be judging him on, not indulging in rumours about making people cry or enforcing a long sleeve dress code for female staff; Simon Francis had a long playing career as a defender, most notably at AFC Bournemouth. Following retirement, he became an academy coach and then an assistant director before taking on the role of Assistant First-Team Technical Director. Phil Giles has no notable playing career. He joined Brentford in 2015 and is regarded as a visionary for his pioneering use of data analytics in a 'moneyball' style. He is currently the club's Director of Sport. David Weir, a former Scottish international and Premier League defender, is now Brighton & Hove Albion's Technical Director. His career post-playing includes a brief managerial role at Sheffield United and assistant coaching positions. Kevin Thelwell played at a semi-professional level before becoming the youngest academy manager in history. After a spell in the USA, he held Director of Football roles at Wolves and Everton, and is now Sporting Director at Rangers. Gary Probert had no notable playing career but worked his way up as a youth coach and academy manager at Bristol City. He is currently the Director of Football Operations at Ipswich Town. Brian Tinnion, a Bristol City legend with over 450 appearances, transitioned from player-manager to Academy Director and is now the club's Technical Director. Kieran Scott is the Head of Football at Middlesbrough, having previously served as Chief Scout at Norwich City. Steve Gallen, a former coach and scout at Queens Park Rangers for two decades, is now the Director of Football at Millwall. Ben Knapper, who spent 13 years at Arsenal in roles like chief analyst and loans manager, was appointed Sporting Director at Norwich City in October 2023. Neil Dewsnip, a former teacher and Everton academy coach for 17 years, is the Director of Football at Plymouth Argyle. Jon Walters, a well-known former Stoke City forward, has since held Technical Director roles and is now the club's Sporting Director. Gretar Steinsson, a former Premier League defender with Bolton, has worked as Director of Football at Fleetwood Town and held recruitment roles at Everton and Tottenham before joining Leeds. Christian Nourry, co-founder of the Get Football Group, joined Queens Park Rangers as CEO in January 2024, with some responsibilities for football operations. My conclusion to that five minutes of AI supported research is the guy who was most unknown when he started is currently the most successful, weirdly. I would ask “who is that?” of many on that last, which probably suggests that many people walk into this level of seniority at a football club, with differing levels of experience!

Alebiosu probably earned first choice at the minute. There are a couple others who can play other positions too but i agree that CB has been left criminally short. -

Also - I wonder if this is a squad that’s now less than 100% wage to turnover? I think the last accounts had us at 120% but it would definitely point towards potential for @joey_big_nose suggestions that this is the “start of that story” -

I’m sure this has been done already but just to ease my train boredom this morning; Goalkeepers; Toth or pears Fullbacks, Right; Alebiosu or Gardner-Hickman, Left; Ribeiro or Pickering Centrebacks - Miller, Carter, Wharton, Mcloughlin Centre Midfield - Tronstad, Tavares, Baradgi, Montgomery and Forshaw Attacking Midfield - Cantwell and Henriksson Wings - Hedges, Morishita, Kargbo and De neve Forwards - Ohashi, Gudjohnson, Gueye Backups outside of this with a first team app; Michalski Gk Garret CM Tyjon AM There may be some others I’ve missed with league experience in the u21s but I find that squad depth in two key areas really worrying - particularly CB and CM -

You can’t really redefine “x player is not up to it” when they’ve played less than an hour in the league. -

Mess up the weekend? We haven’t even played yet. I appreciate that you’re playing up to your name but how on earth could you get to that level of frustration based on Alan Nixon bollocks and some random unsubstantiated claim here - that’s not even that bad if it’s true, surely don’t sell Leonard until you’ve a striker through the door? -

I agree with everything here but I would add that we’d be more attractive to people with connections, power and wealth (being successful aka playoff and promotion chasing on a shoestring) and those are the things that you’d need to get the Rao’s shifted in my opinion. They’ll never bow to fans or public pressure. It needs to be something that puts them in a good light. Writing off bad investments isn’t one of those things. We are a perfect example of how football is fucked! -

I wasn’t ever concerned with the “ambition and expertise” from the top, where our previous owners concerned. I also didn’t want the previous owners to sell. I was happy with the trust too. I’m no financial expert, but the way I see it, the more owed to the owners, the more difficult it is for prospective buyers. We can point to philanthropy and suggest that money is invested badly / lost - but we aren’t the ones who have to agree to sell the club. The Rao’s are, and they absent, stubborn, uninterested, and they hire cheap yes men. -

We’re back at the “care and expertise” part of the story. If they spent a lot to get out of this league, they’d have to start with a CEO! Can you imagine Pasha being in control of a “war chest”?! You’re correct that money will get piled on with us at 120% wage to turnover ratio, but that’s our current wage bill, which is also not competitive enough…! Its just fucked. One of the reasons it’s good for your health to try and separate “Rovers” aka the team, and the ownership debacle. It’s not easy.
