I don’t understand why you think wage approximates will be that far off, all clubs publish their wage bills. Of course, it’ll never be exact unless you’ve a payslip with their bonuses / signing on fees on. It’s fairly easy to have a close approximate though - football manager games have researchers at every club who provide these approximates too, so it’s not as if it’s a random algorithm. I don’t think you can say for sure that he hasn’t been offered a decent extension either, but we can definitely say that his agents advice would’ve been to “stick it out, you’ll get a better deal elsewhere”…. Especially when we’ve seen that happen multiple times in recent seasons. Lenihan, Rothwell, and Brereton-Diaz all went on to sign contracts at their new clubs that would’ve been higher than what we would’ve paid them. You can point out a lack of ambition from the owners and many would agree, you can say their are external issues like parachute payments and FFP make an impact and most would also agree, but you still must acknowledge that these players have short careers and will maximise their earnings. Not forgetting their agents generally take 10% thus the more their client makes….

I personally would be happy to see Dolan on a 15k a week 3 year deal, but I wouldn’t put him in top earner category. Incidentally - I’d make Travis top earner personally! A couple of examples from the championship, similar age and experience, attackers who went to a parachute teams last season; Both Callum O Hare and Tyrese Campbell went to Sheff United last season for free for 15k (according to the same basic AI Research) I would bet that the signing on fees are very different mind!

Oh come on, you spend a hundred words on dissecting players and other decisions but can’t even offer more than a sentence on a simple question? it doesn’t matter though, because we both know that being able to offer competitive wages for the players at the top of the championship normally requires that 45m+ parachute payment, a high turnover and/or ambitious owners. We don’t have any of those three things.

We can easily offer estimates, or a view on the potential earnings those players can obtain here and elsewhere. All that stuff is readily available online. Like turnover to wage ratios, income levels, season ticket prices / numbers etc “Defending the club” is always the bollox that comes back when anyone offers anything that might be an external factor, like for example a player trying to maximise their income in a short career. Re Pears - just adding my thoughts, it was never simply the Wigan gaffe that caused my own dislike of him, it is the constant nervousness he passes on to the defence, especially under pressure. Especially when JDT made him have the most touches per game after dropping Kaminski, a horrible time to watch rovers. I had empathy with Pears, he should’ve never been in that situation but that might also be down to my hatred of this modern trend in football for the keeper to be basically a sweeper. The run of games with the fuckup vs Sheffield Wednesday. Seasons all blend into one for me nowadays, so I’m not sure what season it was - I particularly remember that goal he concedes vs Preston at home was just typical weak arse goalkeeping. No personality and I can’t see him getting better. It’s early days with Toth but Id go that way as I personally see far more potential.

Dolan was really influential today - I know its unlikely but would be great to hear him sign a new deal.

He didn’t put it all on Eustace - he explained that this has rumbled on since last summer and should’ve been sorted. You can say JE was lied too, but then you can also say he took the piss and used the situation. We all would professionally.

I guess it goes down to reputation of knowing the transfer business - something @unleaded has plenty of. The sarcastic point about sabotage, just shows how you seemingly can’t see how this sort of power battle is caused by poor management. You can criticise the directors for this too you know?
