It probably just won't be for sale today, I can't see them revealing that teaser this morning and then nothing else.

Been in club shop today for Rangers tickets. The wall where kits are is completely empty now, and the girl confirmed new kit 'this week'.

Also, last season long sleeve home shirts are now just £15!

So is this the game my away hoodoo is broken?

So far I've been to Bristol City (4-1), Preston (4-1), Wigan (3-1), Sheffield United (3-0), Rotherham (3-2) and Sheffield Wednesday (4-2).

And a warning to other fans - I'm also going to QPR.

Very similar record to me on away days this season. Not seen us win.

    Not going tomorrow either.

Watched the goals again, I think it's fair to say that Mulgrew was shocking for both. Maybe you could blame Lenihan for the first one too, anyway neither of them picked the one player who could potentially have gotten on the end of the cross.

The second goal though. Some belly flop by Mulgrew. He probably told the ref that "the big strong boy knocked me down". It looked pathetic to be honest. Your centre halves can't be doing that.

As usual his set pieces were good and one of our biggest threats, but it is pointless when he usually needs to do something due to him leading such a shoddy defence.

I'd be tempted to play Mulgrew in midfield, and get a proper centre half instead.

Shearer against Leeds at Ewood in 95 when we played the entire game with 10 men after Flowers had been sent off. Scored a penalty and then played the entire game isolated upfront on his own but still caused havoc. Best display of hold up centre forward play you could ever see.

Definitely. Truly the best performance  as a lone striker you will ever see.

I’m not sure we do look particularly ‘neat and tidy’ usually.

We did on Saturday because of one man- Travis.

I kind of agree with him.

We are ok at getting the ball upto just inside their half, then nowt.

Was similar last year, but with poorer defences to unpick we just found a way eventually. In this league there are too many well drilled , bigger, stronger and quicker defences. Derek Williams would get me so mad, wins the ball but then gives it straight back by a clueless half clipped ball into nowhere.

When Armstrong plays, I cannot understand why he doesn't use his pace more. Just get one on one with the FB, push it pass him and run round-he has the pace to do this.

Instead, he may do it once, then go all Brett Emerton and turn back and face in field, giving the defence time to get back.

I'd get him bombing on, getting past their FB, then head for the box. Then shoot, cross or draw the foul for then pen. Pace frightens teams .

Some sides have doubled up on him, which is fine as it gives more space for Dack etc on the middle.

Footy is a simple game, cannot believe we don't use this more often.

  6. I couldn't go, so asked for an opinion on Rovers from  Sheff Fan who did.

"Didnt notice Brereton but thought Blackburn were a neat and tidy side playing open attractive keep possesion footbsll. Your problem was probably over passing, plenty of sideways passing with poor penetration in the final third. You looked a good team but apart from a few free kicks on the edge of the box there was very little goal threat, you offered very little up front (altho we did defend well) , also the teamcapitulation once we scored showed a mental fragility."

What constitutes a legend is far more interesting than dissecting Dunn’s career. Personally I found bigdogs list far too inclusive. Nelsen? Sherwood? I don’t think people will be posting about them in 20-30 years time.

Two criteria that spring to mind for me would be i) played a pivotal role in our fortunes, and ii) was our best player for many years. Example of the former would be John MacNamee, here barely a season but will never be forgotten by those who saw him single handedly stop us going into the 4th division. Shearer another. Of the latter, I’d put Garner, Douglas, Tugay etc, players who could and should have been gracing higher stages but turned out at Ewood for years.

Personally I wouldn’t find a place for Dunn in either.

Only here for a year, but David Speedie had a massive pivotal role in our fortunes. More a cult hero than legend?

Latest Venkys cash input. £4,812,500 paid into Venkys London Limited by way of shares on 16th November which I would assume as previously will now be loaned to the Blackburn Rovers F.C.

Could it be forward planning to enable the first installment on Ben Brereton's transfer or an indication of the size of the January transfer budget? Or could it just be to cover on-going losses?

In any event its now cost the family a grant total of £157 million for their advertising vehicle/hobby/other purpose depending on your own opinions.

Can you provide a source for this info at all. ?

There is one problem with Bradford City’s approach - it has not brought any success on the pitch. They are currently bottom of League 1.

You might think that bigger crowds would by now have brought some success on the pitch if the theory about the effect on performance was right. You might also think that with a big catchment area (a lot bigger than ours), they would have have picked up more fans in those seasons that they were around the play-offs.

Does anyone seriously think that if we halved our ST prices we would sell double I.e. 20,000?

Then they're doing something wrong elsewhere.

And no we wouldn't. But we might need to re open upper BBE.

  10. There is a financial argument for some clubs to not bother with ticket fees at all, they make money without them.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44850888

(I know this is Premier League)

Paul I know you will remember John Williams' drive to fill Ewood via cheap tickets some years ago, he recognised the benefits of a large home crowd on team morale/performance.

Ten years ago Bradford City launched their very aggressive ST price imitative to some success.

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2009/jul/12/bradford-city-season-tickets-supporters

"There is a drawback, of course. Because of the reduced prices Bradford are not making two or three times as much money as their rivals. Roughly speaking, they have dropped their prices by half and gained twice as many supporters, so income-wise they are little better off. Yet the matchday experience at Valley Parade is better for all concerned when there are 12,000 in the ground rather than 5,000 or 6,000, subsidiary revenue goes up and all the young spectators enticed in by the cheap rates are potentially Bradford supporters for the future."

That article goes on to talk about changing the offer being important, which I agree with too. BOGOF was used by Bradford.  Their gates have never dropped below 10k in the last ten years, whilst playing in the third and forth tiers.

So whilst I agree that a constant devaluing of the product at Ewood does have a down side, there is a strong case for pursuing a more aggressive pricing of tickets at football matches.
