  1. Rovers relegation 'Coffin Burial' 'and associated shenanigans is this Sunday, July 30th. Noon start at The Hobb Inn Bamber Bridge.

9 Church Rd, Bamber Bridge, Preston PR5 6EP

The coffin then taken to most other pubs in Bamber Bridge, with approx half an hour in each.

Bamber Bridge is a direct train ride from Blackburn , Mill Hill, Cherry Tree etc.

Should be a great day out...pubs putting entertainment on I'm told.

  2. The plan as of last Thursday when I attended a meeting in Bamber Bridge, is to held a scaled down event on 30th July. There will be no procession, or large scale event as per the last Preston one with road closures and  floats and so on.

The plan is to get the original Rovers coffin from the Trades Hall pub, then take it from pub to pub, with events inside each pub. The coffin is to be ferried around in a longish private vehicle, and it to be taken into each pub taking part. I should know timings and venues in a weeks time or so, once the licensees who wish to be involved in the events have declared their interest in being involved.

This just takes out all the H&S, road closures, marshaling/policing requirements which have been the stumbling block all along. The aim is to withhold the long standing tradition, and for the pubs of BB to earn a few quid too, so all Rovers fans are urged to support the day. Short train ride from Mill Hill etc!

It would be fantastic if one of the early aims of the Trust was to draw on the talent pool offered by the FF, the Ewood WMC group and the Action Group.

One central organisation, or at least a coalition reinvigorating the KGH opportunity, ready for when the time comes and we need to all be pulling in the same direction.

    On our agenda Stuart.

    Agree with Stuart.

Also think that the Trust should try and gain the asset of community value status on Brockhall, the club use the facility to provide training sessions for several years below professional ages, so would that count as a Reason?

    On our agenda Barry.

Ozz, am I correct in thinking the five elected members make up the whole board? No other members?

What is the position regarding a secretary and treasurer?

There are only four elected.  Me MD JM and SB.

The secretary is outside of this snd is not an elected position. Treasurer will be a co-opted board member.

Co-opted board members must not be make up the majority of the board.

  6. I know there is at least one Trust thread already, but with the recent election complete and a board shake up underway, I think it`s fair to start fresh. Please try and stay on topic.

    From the Rovers Trust Website.

The elected members of the new Rovers Trust Board (Steven Bradley, Michael Doherty, Ozz Jones and John Murray) met for the first time on Saturday 15 April. We would like to thank members for their votes and the faith placed in us to take things forward and build on the work of the previous Board.

We agreed that John Murray would become the next Chair of the Trust, with Ozz Jones as Vice-Chair. Michael Doherty will lead on legal and policy issues and on liaison with external bodies. Steven Bradley will lead on communications and social media. We feel that this reflects the balance between change and continuity that the election results communicated. Strengthening the Board with people with the right expertise and enthusiasm is an immediate priority and steps are underway to co-opt further Board members.

Whatever happens in these final games of the season, our club is in dire straits and the Trust has a lot of work to do. We need more members and more active involvement from existing members. We know there is an appetite for this from members and we are seeking ways to involve you more in both formal and informal ways. We have every confidence that you will respond actively and creatively!

We are meeting again in less than two weeks and are working with the previous Board on an effective transition. If you have any immediate questions or offers of help then please contact us on enquiries@roverstrust.co.uk

  7. I love the Stone Roses music, and I went to Spike Island-It was an event I will never forget-As was the guy who had hooves for feet.

But I cannot be doing with them as a `Concept` now, and never felt like going to any of the new gigs. The only one I would have loved to have gone to was the warm up one in Warrington.

  8. If anyone's got the chance to see Prince I would strongly recommend it. An unbelievable show, two and a half hours of perfect pop and rock. The guys a star, plus his band are very easy on the eye also. We got in early and stood right at the front.

  9. Got tickets to see PRINCE on Friday night at Manchester Arena. Trouble is last train leaves Victoria at 23.23, which may be too soon to see the full gig etc(He has a track record of playing long sets)

Anyone else going who could offer two people a lift back to Chorley after the gig at all? Happy to share fuel costs.

    PM if so.

  10. 52 - that's so sad.

It's very difficult to put in words, especially on a football forum, how I - and doubtless everyone else - feel for you guys and Your family. I wish you well for the future.

Tashors posts were great, On the evidence of those contributions, I imagine him and I would have got on very well if we had ever met. They jumped off the page and shone out among an ever increasing gloom of juvenile, repetitive posts, and his contributions will be missed-but nowhere near as much as he will be by his family and friends though.

  11. 5-0, and England lucky to get nil. I`m just glad Johnson is 32 and not 22 as he clearly has a mental grip over the England batters. Big difference has obviously been Johnson and Haddin, take these two out and it may have been a more even contest.

Lehmans made a difference too, gone back to the old school of in your face aggression and raw power cricket, rather than the over analytical laptop based preparation of recent years. The pre match guessing of the England line ups was a smart move too, putting mental pressure on Cook/Flower before each test.
