thank you Den. Until someone is found guilty, everyone involved is innocent. If no one is found to have abused Yorke in the way he described, then, well.... If someone is found to have abused Yorke, then cart him into court asap and chuck the book at him, make him an example..... but, until then.......

chris, we are talking about a "football" problem here, not one that is of a personal nature. Work problems at work. Home problems at home. simple as, don't mix the two.
-
God! even more common sense! What is the world coming too?
-
Sense at last, Chesh, sense at last. Btw, what was his trade, and who were his parents
-
chris, we are not talking about his parenthood, we are talking about his situation on the playing feilds of Ewood, and whether he was telling the truth or crying wolf. Why oh why must it affect his game,? His private life, presumably, doesn't change from week to week? BTW, what was "over the top"? His private life or this incident?

[Archived] Rovers V Birmingham 3-3 (phew)

"lung bursting run "? Sorry rover6, 'lung bursting runs' are for the likes of me, late 50's, not for some fit bloke earning squllions, keeping fit, footballer in his mid to late 20's. Someone like Ferguson should be able to do that time and time again, and not even be out of breath. It's either that or I should be making a come back -
No, jim/john/doris, put out a statement asking Yorke to take these people to court. They can be identified, he knows what they "supposedly" said. Let him prove it. If he's right, then they will be rightly shown as racist bigots and given the law as it stands. If they are found not guilty, then he will be found as a man who tried to take adavntage of a situation. Quite simply, the Rovers cannot let this rest. Either for the club or it's supporters. They must push this to a conclusion. Surely two or three or more people must have heard these "monkey" noises. They are the ones that can prove Yorke correct or otherwise.
-
Not having been there but could it be that Mr Yorke might be crying "wolf" at someone doing a winking motion? Only one person (apparently) was ejected for making "hand gestures". If everyone who made a "hand gesture" at Ewood on Sunday was ejected, then there would be no one in the place; players included. Let the powers that be determine what went on and then, only then make comment.

[Archived] Poll - Falling Attendances.

I must be careful in what I say, but I agree entirely with your comments Paul. It says a lot about the ethics of those that work for "him". -
can't disagree with anything you've said there Alan75, but the point that others have made is that the Rovers will still be there in some form or other. I must admit that I've felt the same way about "professional football" for quite some time. That's why I will always put "playing" before "supporting". If it meant missing a playing game because the Rovers were playing, then the Rovers would miss out. Every game I play is a bonus to me. Having said that, is this the "1960's gaffe" repeated?

Thank you pg. I am, of course, the laziest bartsteward on earth. I could have looked at the tv page. I owe you an ale for that, next time in Melbourne , eh. -

is it on SBS? -
Col, you do if you want to keep "your" job. These decisions aren't made on the spur of the moment. It's usually organised weeks in advance, and on the appointed day someone goes the the person and says, "you're gone" and escorts them out of the office.

Agree with pg. Don't expect much of Emerton with Kewell on the park though. Fare bit of pace in that side. -

Emerton has usually played further back. This has, however, usually means that he doesn't come as far forward because Kewell has a free role and tends to drift across, restricting Emos runs. If Kewell gets taken off, watch the difference in Emos style. Players I would look for are Bresciano and Grella. -
Picture this: You spend 20-30 quid to watch a game 90 minutes long. You get there sing and shout about a "rival" team you no longer play against, attempt to wind up the opposition supporters with same song. You stand up, constantly, despite being asked to sit down there being a seat readily available. You roundly abuse all and sundry and generally make their day somewhat wasted. You attempt to wind up the local constabulary and the local stewards, seemingly unaware that there will only be one winner in that argument. Do you actually watch the game? A fair summation of your days efforts supporting Blackburn Rovers F C, I'd say. And you call me stupid?

That's their attempted putdown. It's how THEY see Bumley. There's still only 3 teams to have won the comp.....not a bad comeback against all except Mnaure and the Arse

dave birch replied to ABBEY's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
Abs, Col is right about abuse to kids, most of it comes from someone they know. Frightening, yes. -
Ben, got no problem with the excitement factor, happens everywhere, everyone will rise to their feet then. It's the constant standing that seems to irritate. Hughesy, at least Manure and LFC are in the same league. I'll bet that a lot of opposition supporters wonder why the hell the Rovers fans sing a song about Bumley.
-
Ben, agree, the banter and having a laugh is all part and parcel of being a supporter. It's knowing when it's gone too far and when to stop is the crucial thing. Taking it too far can (and sometimes does) end up with situations like Heysal.
-
Hughesy, Your support for Rovers fans who stand up in front of other rovers fans! That's the way it seems to be coming across, forgive me if I'm wrong, but I do seem to be taking it the way a few others are. The least you could say is, If you stop other Rovers supporters seeing the game properly, then sit down! About the rivalry with Bumley OK when we play them. Got no arguement with that. Until we do: Why not change the words to whoever we're playing? City's rivalry with Manure is one of the same city, hardly a Blackburn/Burnley thing, is it?
-
Ben, if you brought yourself into the 21st century, you might understand. If you stood up in front of me, you'd be politely ask to sit down, if you continued to do it, I'd get you thrown out, simple as.... Respect your own supporters, then, just then, they may respect you. If you can't understand that, then you have a problem. Apropos Sydney, you've obviously never been here. Ask the following about Sydney: Lee SteB Tooting Tom Pringle Blueboy squaylor they are a few that come to mind, and after listening to them and visiting the place, you may have a different opinion.

[Archived] Poor Old Souness, players bite back

Let's not count our chickens. We should only gloat when it happens. Who knows, he could take them on a run that leads them to the pinnacle of the prem. How would weazle words look then? -
Good God, Hughesy, Is that the best you can come up with, considering that the Rovers were, not playing Burnley or even playing a team in the division that Burnley play? This is the 21st Century, It is the Premier League, isn't it time to concentrate on the task at hand, and that doesn't involve Bumley? Respect for your fellow Rovers supporters is not a lot to ask, is it?
