  2. I'm still onto the complete recordings of Robert Johnson, for you blues fans. Influencer of many modern (post 60's guitarists) This guy recorded just 20 or 30 tracks, all on an acoustic, but they are stunning. On the jazz side, I'm listening to Lionel Hampton, wild vibes....... yeah.....
  3. Damo, I must admit that I've got to the end of my "tether" with Souness. I was with him up to Christmas. However, this is not the time of the season to be getting shot of him. We have to stick with him to the end of the season or to the stage we are either safe, or definintely going down. He is not getting the best out of this team, at the moment. As to his replacement, if he comes good, we don't need one, but....things don't look too good at the mo.... do they....
  4. But Jan, what's, or rather, who, is the solution to the "problem"?
  5. Take your point, Bryan. Re Grabbi, how different would things have been for him (and for Rovers supporters in general) had his goal against Manure and the clown, stood. I always felt it was a legitimate goal.
  6. Indeed, Bryan, every one of those acheivements, made us all proud too. We do seem to have hit the wall, don't we? Don't get me wrong, I reckon Souness has been great for the Rovers, It's just that I think that he's (not lost the plot, that's too simplistic) got what it takes to get the current mob of players, players that he brought into the club, to function as a team, to play the game together. KD had the ability to gel players into a functioning unit, maybe he should have a word with him. Maybe, Souness is having a bit of a bad trot, just as players do. I hope that that is the case. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than for OUR team to make a mockery of form to date by thrashing every team we play. Something, though, tells me, we'll continue to struggle; we'll make it, but only just....
  7. Waggy, whilst I think that the Souness era is coming to an end, He has done some seriously GOOD things for the Rovers. My personal opinion is that he's taken us as far as he can, but he did well for the best part of his tenure at Ewood. However. Don't judge him on the season to date, results to come may make you regret your words, just as those that think he's the Bees' knees, may regret theirs. I hope he goes out on a good note, taking us to safety, giving the Rovers plenty of time to get a suiteable replacement. If he ever gets down under, I'll share a bottle of red with him, and thank him for his time at Ewood.
  8. Surely, If Leeds can't (or don't) pay their players, then that is breach of contract. I'd assume that the players would then become free agents. Anyone else got any thoughts?
  9. and what's your solution, kermit
  10. I agree that it's past the time that GS should show us what he's (managerially) capable of, or ship out. I have been one of his supporters up to now, but, I have to admit, my doubts are getting stronger that he's just not getting anything out of the squad anymore. Lost the plot, or what, the Rovers are struggling. Who do we put in there? Me, I'd bring "Sparky" back, shaft Saunders, and tell the rest to pull their fingers out... or else The biggest problem I have with replacing GS is the timing. It give his replacement no time at all to do the remedial work.
  11. Just going back to Chesh's comments about Leeds, I was under the impression that their "season ticket" income had been mortgaged for some years to come. Anyone enlighten me further?
  12. Forgot the swimming India to get tubbed in the cricket. now, where's my watch?
  13. Just thought I'd bring this back to the top, to annoy jim/doris/john et al. After a slight hiatus, normal service has resumed down under. Australia beat Spain 3-1 in the Davis Cup Australia beat England 5-0 in the Womens Hockey. I knew you'd want me to share this with you all.
  14. Weather in Sydney at the moment..... overcast, persissting down, cool about 17-18c, no wind to speak of
  15. RR, your point about a Penalty in football does not equate fully with a penalty in Rugby, in that it has to be an infringement in a restricted area to get a "one on one". In rugby the shot ffor goal can be from anywhere that a team feels they can score, be it 5 yards or 55 yards. Furthermore, the infringement in rugby rest more on the refs opinion (in that it is not as clear cut as in football) Having said that, if you read my post elsewhere, you'll find that, at one stage in the evolution of Rugby, the kick for goal was far more important than the try.
  16. Doing the rounds on radio in Sydney.... Guy, carrying his dog walks into a bar in Sydney, the dog is festooned in England colours. Barman says, sorry mate, no dogs in here. The guys appeals to the barman, "Look, my TV's stuffed, I can't get a ticket, and I've just got to see the game" The barman relents, but adds, at the first sign of a problem, "you're out" Anyway, England get the kickoff, get the ball down to the 22 and receive a penalty, which JW promptly pots over for a goal. The dog the leaps onto the bar, on it's hind legs dispensing high fives to all and sundry. The barman says, "mate, that's fantastic, What does he do when England score a try?" Guy replies, "No idea mate, I've only had him for three years....."
  17. Well said, John. Negative mind, Negative attitude Negative outcome Positive mind Positive attitude Positive outcome. We go from here my Blue and White friends.

At last, some sanity in the way the beautiful game supported. As a Rovers supporter of many a year, I'm pleased that it's the supporters of MY team that have decided to change the worldwide image of English football. I'm also pleased that the fans of a Turkish team have made the offer in the true spirit of OUR game. To all that are going to be involved, enjoy the 7 a side, enjoy the main game, may the best team win, and, most of all, enjoy each others company AFTER the game. I just wish I could be there.
  20. I remember Spenny's rants well, and was disappointed that they stopped and that the man himself stopped posting (at least under that name). Let's have someone who can post a rational, yet controversial argument. Not just about the Rovers, but football in general. Someone who is prepared to "cop the flak" and reply to it. Let it be one topic per week. If the good Rev wants to be it, then let's go. You never know, Spenny might return..... As an afterthought, why can't we have a pinned weekly topic. Anyone who wishes to post, submits the topic for the week to a mod, but must be prepared to reply to all posts and no PM'ing
  21. Flopsy, "half a shilling" come on pal, even you must know how much that was besides it was thrippence, and we got change from that!
  22. Got to agree with Bryan, den. Hardly something you'd "vote" on given the circumstances.
