  1. Hadn't heard of them before watching this link, but have just purchased the MP3 album. Looking forward to hearing all of it.
  2. If you never did like wrestling then you won't know how incredible of a job that Rourke did. I wasn't watching him, I was watching a washed up wrestler try to salvage some sort of a life. Yes, very depressing, but that easily could have been the Ultimate Warrior in the role. I thought Frank Langella was really good as Nixon, but I also knew I was watching Frank Langella play Nixon.
  3. Interesting column on Frost/Nixon and it's liberties with the actual story. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/elizabeth-dr...b_b_150948.html
  4. Much easier to put him on ignore instead of having a sanctimonious dig every time he posts.....
  5. "Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn."
  6. Read an article a month or 2 back (not sure if the link was from here or not) about how one of the Scandinavian countries has made heroin available from clinics. They were talking about how people are now able to get their daily fix and still hold a job. They've also shown that less people are taking it now, due to the stigma attached with going to the clinics. I still don't see where what you are talking about as "inevitable" isn't already happening now.
  7. Saw Slumdog Millionaire today - really well done, I thought the kid that played the brother as a young child was brilliant. You could really see what he was going to become. Frost/Nixon - one of the, if not the, best movie of the year. Really well acted, really well paced. Only complaint would be that they had to make it one person winning, one person losing. Towards the end of Nixon's life, he wasn't necessarily loved, but he was respected a lot more than they made it sound.
  8. Flopsy, along that vein, have you ever read Robert Harris' Fatherland? It is about Germany in the 60s had they won the war and uses some interesting documents that were from that time.
  9. Was just reading an interview with Jackson and he said he was told to ham it up as much as he wanted to.
  10. Pride and Glory - I'd rate it a B, well acted and well made, but nothing that sets it apart from others of its like. The Wrestler - I'd rate it an A. You aren't watching Mickey Rourke act, you are watching Randy "Ram" Robinson, washed up wrestler. Added bonus is Marisa Tomei topless. It was actually a tough movie to watch because of the way it was acted and directed - almost like it was a documentary and all that was happening was happening in real life with no movie effects. If Rourke doesn't win the Oscar for this, it will be a travesty - one of the top, if not the top, performances I've ever seen.
  11. Have '08 and I love it. Have done about 5 drafts so far in the GM mode. Also just got Tiger Woods '09 for the PS2 and am a little disappointed. The last version I had was for the PC and had a much better character creator and MUCH better career mode. Still enjoying the season mode and have been playing the game non-stop for 2 days, but it just isn't as good as the PC version.
  12. I would say, if nothing else, get to the local farmer's market for fresh produce. If you go towards the end of the day, you might even be able to bargain a few good deals.
  13. One of the big differences between the UK and the US. In the US, 150 miles is still considered local. I have noticed over here that there seems to be less preservatives used in food. I haven't found my eating being any less (except maybe smaller restaurant portions), but I still lost about 10 pounds in 2 months. I think a lot of it is less "crap" being used in the processing of the food I'm eating.
  14. They tend to overprice stuff just because it is organic. The profit margins are higher because they know their target consumer will pay more to feel better about what they eat.
  15. Not sure if this is available outside of the US, but there is an offer for 9 free eBooks. Even the software to read them is free. I'm assuming the only "catch" is them trying to get you to realise that eBooks are just as easy to read as regular books. They will ask for your credit card, but the books are free. (I haven't downloaded any yet, but read about this on cNet and there were many comments from people who had downloaded them and agreed that there was no scam.) http://www.ereader.com/servlet/mw?t=free_r...house&si=59
  16. Agree with the turkey brine, Paul, have done it a couple of times myself and always comes out good. Another tip I tried the last time I cooked a turkey was putting butter between the skin and the breast. Turned out to be nice and juicy.
  17. Just was listening to Leonard Cohen's version of Hallelujah the other day - probably the best one out there. Agree with how great Grace and Lover.... is.
  18. We sure as hell don't need condescending a-hole fans like you.
  19. Ask him to get the stick while he's in there doing the prostate exam!
  20. Oliver Stone and James Woods at their best.
