In fairness if this was put to Mowbray privately I think he would hold his hands up and admit he's made a mistake. Doesn't change anything though.
I wouldn't call it a "mistake", more a failure.
A mistake would be not trying to get defensive reinforcements. Surely to God he must have tried. It would be madness not to.
So he's failed to do the necessary recruitment. Now there could be all sorts of reasons for not getting deals over the line, and I'm sure many excuses are lined up behind the scenes.
But failure is failure regardless of any mitigating circumstances. Bosses don't give a crap about reasons, they care about results. And that's in normal business let alone football.
And this ain't in a short timespell. He's had 3 windows now since we got promoted from League 1 and it was obvious we'd need to strengthen at the back to compete.
That's continuous failure over a prolonged time period.
5 days TM, please make me eat those words.

Messy end to the Catalan Warrington match tonight.
3 or 4 players sent from field of play after the 80th min hooter.
Bit of a mini riot in the stands as Wire fans clambered up hoarding to fight.
All very football. Unlike the rugby fans.

Tbf the LET interview is a better read...
'I’ve brought Tosin in so that won’t be the back four soon.'
So clearly expect changes in the next week or two.
As has been said before on this board, one change isn't going to rescue our back 5.
If TM thinks it is, then that worries me even more.
3 changes and we might be getting somewhere.

Am I missing something Ben?
I clicked on it and has us 14th.

I won my bet last season with my Wigan brother-in-law for who finished highest.
Asked him if he wanted to go again this year - he refused.
He thinks they're nailed on for relegation.
He's also pretty envious of the signings we've made.

Please don't have a big Rangers discussion in the match thread.
Take it to World Football thread.

Chelsea's 49 loaned out is ridiculous.
Pretty much quadruple anyone else.
The authorities should be doing something about that.
Not sure loan market needs scrapped. Maybe just capped.
Any team can only loan out a maximum of 5 or something.

I wonder are we holding off on announcing Walton because we have 2 to announce today
Lot of 2 and to's in that sentence
Not really, there's one of each. ?
See, that's the problem with the transfer thread, too much guesswork, not enough accuracy.
If you're gonna come on here releasing exclusives about the 2's and to's then you damn well better be sure you can back it up with evidence. Otherwise, you'll get eaten alive.
Must try harder BDS.
Get back to your sources and tell them they've given you duff info.

Agents and favours in same sentence. Bit of an oxymoron.
They really are filth. What purpose do they even serve in football?
A totally unnecessary commodity.
Couldn't believe Juve fans chanting Mino Raiola's name last week. Singing his name like some hero for getting De Ligt to their club.
You're cheering someone who's just taken tens of millions from your club for no reason. You should be booing him like a pantomime villain you clowns!

If the rumours I heard were correct - Reading offered more money !
Good. Wouldn't have minded him for a few cameos.
But not someone I'd want to spend much of the budget on.
Particularly at his age with a suspect injury record.

Jesus , I’m out. Go back to speculating in the dark.
The gist I've got so far is a keeper is due soon, if that falls through there will be some other keeper options.
And a defender may or may not be coming soon.
Aaarrgghh, the light, it burns, it buuurrrnnnsss.....
Nobody look directly at it, use your safety shades.

Root admitted himself in interview after that it was probably the worst batting performance of his professional career.
Seemed a pretty honest assessment.

Gotta be one of the best finals in any sporting code.

Calm down guys. It's England in the World Cup, which is a whole lot better than watching that African nations kick fest.....
This.
I feel myself being critical of some of the poor skills on show by some of the women's teams and then I flick over to the Africa C Of N.....
Jesus Christ some of it is pitiful. I swear every time I tune in some donkey defender or DM is trying to crack a shot from 40 yards out, which always ends up in the top tier of an empty stand. Embarrassing.

Made it look easy against the likes of Ipswich, didn’t look up for it against tougher opposition.
He should sign on for the England cricket team then.

This is a guy who played 38 times in the Championship last season in a team in the mix throughout. 40 appearances season before, must offer something surely to us.
I said exact same thing about Murphy when people questioned the money spent on him at his age.
"C'mon, he's just played a full season for Fulham, and won player of the year. He's not suddenly gonna turn crap overnight."
☺
I'm therefore not going to comment on Downing. ?

CP, how's it gonna feel when Sheff Utd steal the auto promotion spot?
A fellow Yorkshire club no less snatching that dream away.
Wow, that's gonna hurt.
You got that familiar sinking feeling?! ?

I do love to reminisce. ??

3 wins on the bounce, safety assured, heading for mid table finish, a load of our players back on form and showing some real promise on the pitch.........
....... and BRFCS has fans ripping each other's heads off.
True story.

Loved watching Tiger yesterday. Played like a machine & that moment with his kids after the 18th was a great watch.
He's obviously been a tool in his past personal life but so have a lot of footballers we've loved over the years.
Take in to account the extent of his injuries, the position he was at and the graft he's put in to make yesterday happen, it's nothing short of incredible.
When he was struggling a year or so ago, I said to a pal why doesn't he just give it up. He's got bags of money, doesn't need to prove anything, and it was embarrassing watching him hack the ball around the course.
I confidently stated he would never win a single tournament, let alone a major.
Well, he sure has rammed those words down my throat. And hats off to him for that.
To have the hunger at his age to produce that masterclass, quite remarkable really.
And although I don't particularly like the guy, you're right that moment at the end with his Mum and kids was very touching.
They've seen him toil and suffer for a decade now (a lot self inflicted), so to see it all pay off and the redemption arc completed was a great thing.
Well done Tiger!

Some crazy results in the championship. We are lucky we got those 3 points last night or things could be getting very tense
Scores, they ain't results yet.
A bit to go.
Was just looking at table, if hull come back to win, Wigan cud go into bottom 3 on goal difference.
....... and Hull score as I finish post.

Ah, that makes more sense.
Yeah, he should definitely keep his trap shut more often.
Empty promises.
Someone should teach him the theory of underpromise but overdeliver.
Because the reverse is painful as hell.
