McKenna would be an awesome signing, but so would Kipre and Ayala and Mawson have been, it's not about nearly's its about those that actually come

You make a good point, I honestly believe names are leaked to make it look like we tried and ended up with Mr seventh choice, desperate last minute loan deal.

  2. If what Waggot is saying is true, fair play....we can’t be getting into FFP issues again.

    But,

why does it take so long? “ will your player take £X ?” “No way”.........move on.

We seem to dwell so much on transfers! Surely the 1st 2 weeks of the window. Could be spent sourcing targets and deciding if they are feasible! Waggot talks about some “very ambitious signings” they are surely going to come at a premium? Just forget about them if they are Impossible to fit in to the wage structure.

Seems like we have a list of players that we have no chance of signing!! Pointless waste of time!

Looked a class above everyone else in the friendly against Leicester imo.

I certainly wouldn't swap him for anyone.

I know what your points are but to claim he is world class and you”wouldn’t change him for anyone” I think this Is a major OTT statement.

JRC will do well for us if he carries on...let’s not lose site here.

what about the improvement of players like Lenihan, Travis and Armstrong? plus we achieved a higher league table finish without Dack for half of games?

The 3 you mention have improved, but they were still part of the team last season. We need to improve the squad or we won’t progress.

I hope we don’t need to rely on Wharton and Magloire as it is a recipe for disaster in the championship. They need to be used sparingly throughout the season!

i wouldn’t say I’m looking forward to the season as it stands currently!

  5. I never thought I’d say this but we are missing a director of football. Someone who can be the go between between the manager and the scouting network! TM is so indecisive, every transfer window I’d the same story!

Our needs have been blatant for a couple seasons now, yet it’s always done in the last minute or not at all!

  6. Bristol City have recruited well this week! They have added experience and quality to a young squad.

They were in and around us last season, they are the kind of team we are competing with but financially we can’t touch them!

Heres to hoping TM pulls something out of the bag because at present our squad looks very fragile with a long, tough season ahead.

Just looking at what kind of side we might put out if we didn't sign or sell anyone at all (and don't retain Downing). It's potentially not actually that bad in my opinion but, echoing what we've all been saying, it is so clear that an experienced Gk and Cb would go so, so far towards improving us.

    Hilton

    Nyambe Lenihan Wharton JRC

    Travis Evans

    Brereton Dack Armstrong

    Gallagher

Subs: Fisher, Williams, Bell, Rothwell, Johnson, Chapman, Buckley, Holtby

Extras: Williams, Carter, Bell, Bennett, Vale...

I’m sorry but with that defence you are fighting relegation! CH and GK are needed ASAP!

Ya, but the discussion isn't whether we are signings Pears on loan. I am assuming that one would be permanent.

Apologies, I didn’t mean any team in particular Boro was the first team that came to mind! And of course Pears is at Boro.

i just think now we have to get a proven keeper. Too long we’ve been so poor in this area. The GK is vital yet we keep failing to address this position.

Now he is. He was playing in League 1 when we were there. It's just one of those loan deals that worked out.

He was at Shrewsbury though at the time and was a huge success! He proved himself as a number 1 in League 1.

Sheff Utd knee they we’re getting a good GK with experience of playing 40+ games a season!

Huddersfield have no keepers. Rotherham have no 1st choice keeper.

One CB? Lenihan, Williams and Wharton. Plus Carter and Maglorie who have 1st team league games under their belt.

I’ve just had a nightmare that they were our defensive options for the first game! ?

only Lenihan there who Is championship quality. I believe this is our biggest summer for years. If we get it wrong we may get it badly wrong! We need a solid spine, rarely comes cheap!

We cannot afford to play a full season with another sub standard goalkeeper!

  11. I think it’s a pretty simple scenario....

if we are looking to progress, all our signings have to supersede the players they are replacing!

every signing has to improve us, it’s that simple. TM has to pull the rabbit out of the hat this summer because he simply can’t afford to replace Tosin, Graham and Walton!

It’s a big issue with the Loan market, a player has a good season, goes back to his parent club and you are left looking for a permanent replacement that simply that simply doesn’t fit your budget!

  12. I agree with a few posts on here regarding ball playing centre halves! I’d much prefer a solid centre half who was quite happy just laying it off to a ball playing CM player!

it’s very rare to get a top top defender who’s unbelievable on the ball, yes Theres exceptions like VVD but look at his price tag. John Stones is an awful defender but he can make a pass!

let’s get back to basics, defend well and let the attacking players do the attacking!

  13. I think it’s important TM gets his defensive options in early in the window. But just as importantly he needs the existing defenders out on the training pitch working together! Our defence has been poor now for a few seasons and often looks unorganised.

You’d expect TM to demand better being an ex old school centre half.

  14. TM really has done everything he can. You can blatantly see the barrier he is hitting in his style of play. The game has moved on and he hasn't.

I cannot think of a huge list of possible replacements but Ainsworth and Damien Johnson are names that I think would be an improvement.

Or do we look at a young European coach like a few other teams have done? Wolves Norwich and Forest have all had success down this route.

Changes are genuinely needed, TM can't be trusted with any more funding.

Im hooked aswell. Just telling what ive been told, for example Lamptey, my guy was 100 % right on that one. The story about Brighton broke the day after. The only issue I have with that is that that could have been a done deal a week ago. If Mowbray would have said "Yes, we will pay you this small fee if he doesn't play a certain numbers of games " He would be in our squad now. Matter of principal by Mowbray but not a good negotiation-plan

But he's a RB, if that deal had gone through weeks ago we'd still be in a position where we are short of a LB and a Winger.......and we'd have even less money for wages where they are needed!
