good shout Scotty if only eh ?

I am sure that someone in the know will be leaking information out of the club, whether or not its disinformation throw off the scent we will never know until the white smoke rises out of the Sir Jack Walker Stand tinykit.gif

    Very wise 1864.

Rovers board have long been good at deafening silences, smokescreens and surprises when the need has arisen.

We have not become a small town club overnight, we are experienced at it.

I don't , however, believe there is any future in 'ruling by committee' if that's how the trustees govern.

Don't get despondent yet and keep believing.

  2. Don Mackay was last seen at Airdrie in 2001. The busty lass in our canteen at work has heard that Don believes it's time he made a return to management.

I understand that he's also had spells as mine host at The Kettledrum (Burnley) and The Calf's Head (Worston nr Clitheroe). Can't comment on his performance at either of these though.

  3. the area around palace is a crud hole on a par with burnley rolleyes.gif

Thats harsh biggrin.gif ......Burnley is ( no offence meant ) a right hovel.

Just to verify your credentials, can you name the pub near the main stand at Selhurst Park (hon. patron G. Courtney)?.

Do you mean the Clifton arms on the corner , i don't know who the landlord is because i normally drink in the Cherries outside Norwood Junction train station or the Alliance just up the road a bit .

Why do you ask anyway , do you i'm an agent provocteur (sp) biggrin.gif

Not 'honourable' patron of the pub, 'honorary' patron of CPFC for services to promotion. (ex ref)

BTW Correct answer - you may continue.........

  4. I don't think speaking to him guarantees him the job, don't forget terry venables had talks at Newcastle. I would guess the club would like to speak to all of the candidates they have shortlisted, its normal practice when interviewing for a job, don't just appoint the first person who comes along.

Thank god for that! John Williams was walking in the other day just when the woman from Leavers pie shop came along - mind you her cv is probably as good as Dowie's. cool.gif

  5. theres only two bobs, two bobs, theres only two bobs  rolleyes.gif

There's also Bob Crompton, he's not posted since March 6 but there's no need to alienate Bob's Alan.

Capt - Mines one of those 1.5 pint thingy's that takes 1 hour 10 minutes to pour - your round half time vs Portsmouth. Thanks.

Does anyone think that we're going to hear anything now until Monday at the earliest with regards to the new manager?

Doubt it - no home match to unveil the new man. any press at Ewood would distract Parkes & the team in the NE. Monday am would be next soonest.

  6. theres only two bobs, two bobs, theres only two bobs  rolleyes.gif

    Altogether now.......

" and the Bob and the Bobf

    come bob bob bobbin along....

shoot the ba####ds, shoot the ba####ds, shoot the ba####ds"

    Sorry Bobs x2 - couldn't resist tongue.gif

Anyway, what can you get fer two Bobs these days? cool.gif

  7. and WHERE IS TODD?  mad.gif

If he's any sense at all he'll be running up and down sand dunes somewhere in a desperate attempt to get fully fit before the new man takes over. No one seems to want to match his wages so he must realise that he needs to buckle down here. tinykit.giftinykit.gif

Alternatively he might be found in the W H Smiths looking for a leaving card for Souey. smile.gif

Don't think he's that bright. Anyway, the last Rovers player seen alone on sand dunes was Andy Crawford - and he disappeared without trace!

  8. Come on..own up...who voted for Perez? And Mark Atkins.....? I personally rate Price as the best I've seen but Jim Brannagan was good as well, particularly if it was cutting up rough. In his time at Rovers it would be interesting to see how many games Jim missed as I can never remember him being inbjured. This was in the Saxton era when I think we had about 15 players and they had to play even if they had a life threastening inbjury. They don't breed em like that anymore!

I think he only ever missed for hairdressing appointments!

  9. Whats with all this support for riff raff like Mark Hughes and Mike Newell - appointing inexperience like that is just going down the same road as a certain Mr. Kidd and look where we ended up then. Hughes couldn't even mastermind victories against Azerbanjo and Northern Ireland, plus he has no full time club management experience. Mike Newell is managing Luton at the moment which says it all. Likewise Shearer.

Sod setimentality, what we need is a manager with good technical ability who can or will possibly move the club forward in a new direction, someone with proven experience at the highest level.

To me, if Gerard Houllier applies for the job then I can't see how the board can look past such an excellent CV. Ok so things went sour at Liverpool but it was mainly media pressure that forced him out, he was doing a top job given the level of competition he faced from Arsenal, United and Chelski.

Football fans have such short memories which is why the Geordies didnt take to Souness as their board would have hoped. In Houllier we are talking about one of the most highly respected managers/coaches in Europe with a huge amount of top class Premiership, Champions League and International experience - unlike Hughes, Newell, Strachan, Walter Smith etc etc or whoever you care to mention besides Wenger, Ferguson etc

I know most Rovers fans wouldn't warm to Houllier initially but why the hell not? He did a great job at Liverpool and won lots of trophies, he was France's technical director prior to the period where they won the World Cup and the Euro's and is a top class coach. He is the man for the job if he has applied, which by all accounts he has.

Plus, the last two former Liverpool managers we appointed both won us trophies, our only successes of the last god knows how long years. Who is to say the next Anfield reject can't make it a clean sweep and bag us the FA Cup this season???!!!

    Allez Allez Gerard Houllier!!

We're not having any garlic eating surrender monkeys at Ewood, so that's the end of that.

  10. Guys, please don't shoot me down here, or liken me to Hughesy.

My brother in law just called me, he has dropped his car off at Westwood Mercedes in Blackburn late this afternoon and reckons Mark Hughes was coming out of there as he walked in. Swears its true and he's normally reliable.

Can't myself see what he'd be doing in the Merc Garage, but just passing the message on.

    Looking for an umbrella ???
