sorry para, wasnt ment as a put down.
Just interesting to see who his coaches were, and whether if he got the job he would bring them with him. Except Rush of course whose now in manager at Chester.
Is Mark Bowen a coach at Brum ?
Has he got a racist dad who used to like darts?
-
Why the hell will Newell be a good assistant? or indeed, Shearer?
Do any of the people putting them forward have first-hand experience of their coaching abilities? Have they been given a glowing testimonial as to the abilities of such people by mysterious third-parties?
No, they bleeding well haven't! It's the new parlour game, pluck a name out of the hat, "Whaddya get, Granny?"; "I got Ronnie Hildersley as Technical Director, Father Ted as Manager, and Alan Shearer in charge of making the teas!"; "Cool, I'll just pump that into Championship Manager - 'for those with too much free time' and see what happens!"
It's balls, absolute twads. Shearer doen't even have any managerial experience, he's not finished playing yet! Does he even have a badge (apart from Cub Scouts Boxing)?
I'm going for Stephen Hawking as Manager and Sir Alf Ramsey as Assistant. Stephen has zilch experience but will be good with formations, and Sir Alf can wipe his bum.
Sorted.
....Not quite. Who would you put on the tannoy?

Hot favourites are not usually apointed at Ewood - expect a surprise. I am, however, ruling myself out.

Sturrock is reported by Skysports as having applied for both the Preston and Blckburn jobs.
Rover 6 heart beats a little faster.
Thats it then - he'll be offered asst at Bamber Bridge
-
NO TO HODDLE, ADVOCAAT, REID, HOULIER, VENABLES or GEORGE GRAHAM
Don´t stop there!
Hoddle to BURNL*Y.
We´d have a right laugh.
-
If you mean Dick Advocaat, where was it reported?
planetfootball.com, which runs stories from skysports.
Ta RR

According to the Sun, Garry Flipflop is to be given a squad number by TP and will start against Newcastle.
Hurry up JW and get someone in!
Well it seems like I am the last remaining Flitcroft fan left amongst Rovers supporters. Personally i can't wait to see him back on the pitch. I reckon he would do alright in the holding position that Souness pigheadedly insisted Matteo would play. Flitcroft is after all the longest serving player at the club having played a whopping 241 games (plus 16 from the bench) and he deserves a chance to show he can still play.
...........Not quite the last. He's far better than Matteo, Gresko.
-
Well, apparently he's been stripped of it.
Maybe they took his number away from him in a Voodoo ceremonial ritual?
Sounds like the work of the tannoy man.....
-
Don't panic. Tony always gets a few games and press conferences to tell the world how he doesn't want t'job.
He won't want to have had his suit dry cleaned for nothing!
-
newton was the best i've seen but the history books would all point to crompton as the most influential player we have ever had and thats not just rightbacks either.so for me its crompton as captain and rightback
He must also be in with a shout for the 'Manager' and 'Chairman' awards.
-
It is always make or break if you think about it. A successful manager will be poached leaving the club on the verge of promotion/silverware and a poor one will be sacked leaving a club on the brink of relegation/the Dingle League.
-
Applications have not always been required for previous appointments. Kenny Dalglish was approached and I believe Howard Kendall was appointed after Jimmy Armfield was asked for advice by the Rovers Board. (both successful appointments at the time).
So Rovers, don't wait for the postman, choose your man and go for him!
-
I've heard off my cat that Wenger is going to take over.
Apparantely he has a bizarre pie fetish and the close proximity to 'Leavers of Ewood' made his mind up.
(Thought I might as well talk b*llocks too as everyone else seems to be)
They don't do 'bizarre pies', but the meat and pot are smashing.
-
I haven't a problem with Peter Reid and I thought that he did a good job for Sunderland, but I'd rather he didn't take over. Skysports are reporting on the Advocat story that Hughes is Blackburn's prefered choice of manager.
If you mean Dick Advocaat, where was it reported?
-
An injured Gally on the left instead of Pedersen?
He's a very quick healer.
-
Allardyce has all the appeal of Stevie Kindon - another retired motorised sideboard. Long may he stay at the Breezeblock Stadium.
-
Alan Pardew has applied also
Can you give us a source Hughesy? Bearing in mind that your Auntie's stepdad's goldfish's psychiatrist doesnt count........?
Why not? It should be a level playing field!
-
This would be my XI
Friedel
Neill Amoruso Short Gray
Emerton Flitcroft Ferguson Gallagher
Dickov Stead
Not sure if its ever played together before. Thommo would start before Emerton if he was fit. Parkes is sure to recall Flitty.
BTW Bryan, I was right about Ewood Parkes and the laundry - just remember where you heard it first.........

Souness (at Rovers) is the most successful manager in the Premier League over the last four years, bar the managers of Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
And still the Blackburn "paying public" deserted in their droves.
Whoever the new manager is, that person has almost no chance of bettering Souness' record at Rovers in the same timescale, if at all.
I accept what you're saying here, and I acknowledge that I'm taking it out of its context a little but I'm sure I've seen a quote on one of these threads this week that states that Rovers' Premiership record under Souness contained more defeats than victories (something like 45 defeats to 40 wins)
If you are referring to tangible success ie trophies and European qualification then I accept that point.
I know stats can be manipulated to paint whatever picture you want to portray, however losing more games than you win can't be good in anyone's view.
The Blackburn "paying public" are deserting in their droves because, over the last 18 months or so, they are being asked to pay more in ticket prices for a poorer standard of football. Simple as that. The hardcore season ticket holders will continue to support year after year but the "casual" supporter, the bandwagon supporter if you like, is going to jump off just as quickly as he/she jumped on circa 1995 because they're not getting any 'entertainment value'
I'm looking forward to the new manager
a) being a popular choice
being tactically proficient
c) having a good backroom team around him
d) introducing some entertaining football
e) being able to cure our defensive frailties
it's not too much to ask is it ?!!
BLIMEY!!

Crompton - must have been a hero for ALL his endeavours for BRFC.
-
It's very difficult to look past Crompton for this position. Berg was the best that I have seen play there, but when you were surrounded by Hendry, May, Le Saux and Flowers, frankly I would have looked a half decent right back.
BTW CB, I've been to Shrigley Hall and it's vv posh.
-
Rovers have always played 4-4-2 in my memory. Souey's tactics for the 1st season promoted had the benefit of surprise.
I really fear for Jon Stead with no Cole and Gally absent.
-
Don't think the old Matt Jansen exists anymore.
-
Right, this is good news.
All we need now is a new right-back, a couple of central defenders, a right-winger until Thompson comes back, a central midfielder who can put tehir foot in, and a decent all-round striker!
No worries.
...... and a new tannoy man!
New Manager is Mark Hughes
