  1. Oh must note that avatar isn't the more blatant occasion in 2013...but still.
  2. Well at least Plymouth saved approx hour & half coming to Ewood instead of Carlisle lol. Though I suppose that hardly evens things out...
  3. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/boxing/nick-blackwell-hospitalised-after-losing-fight-to-chris-eubank-jr-a6954816.html I've always thought "lack of class" and boxing was a good mix to be honest. There should be at least one sport where people don't have to act like complete corporate puppets. Mike Tyson in particular was a hilariously awful role model. It says in the link Blackwell is currently in an induced coma though that does not mean its going to be a McClellan scenario. There is a classless side of boxing which isn't entertaining as I've seen reports McClellan has virtually been forgotten by the boxing world. If not forgotten they certainly haven't offered a great deal of support. To be honest Gav (please don't delete this its fair to note irony and I'm taking a break from site for a few weeks so indulge me with this one post...) its not like Dunn is showing a ton of class in your avatar. With such provocation cops/stewards could easily have been seriously injured at least had their fans reacted violently. To be honest I've enjoyed certain instances (such as Arsenal players mocking Van Nistelrooy being a hilariously classless moment) but you can't really condemn anyone else for lacking class with that avatar! Not that I like Fury at all though.
  4. That's one of the things I like about boxing to be honest...the trash talk/gestures! Laughed too when articles were lambasting the Haye/Chisora brawl. World is hardly going to come to an end over boxers being bad role models! Mike Tyson wasn't just the "baddest man on the planet" he's one of the "funniest men on the planet". Prefer that over making footballers (aka corporate puppets) line up like schoolchildren and shake hands. Wouldn't be the same without it haven't got tremendous interest in UFC because they don't really stand for that as much. Not that Dana White hasn't had a few verbals his Mother actually wrote a book trashing him lol! Don't like Fury though admittedly that's for reasons other than his boxing. Have to say though Dunn's celebration in your avatar wasn't exactly showing a ton of class. Seriously is that your biggest highlight in all your years of watching Rovers?
  5. ...and people called me a broken record. I certainly supported England in 98 (never claimed it to be anything like Rovers level though) but I was already becoming disinterested by 2000. After Sven didn't pick Jansen in 2002 (which really angered me especially as he had already hurt Rovers) I lost interest altogether. Have to admit I blamed Sven for the accident at the time. Teenagers can be immature and I definitely was. Honestly if they get to Euro 2016 final (and that's perfectly plausible its a knockout tournament which bloody Greece won) I won't really care who wins.
  6. Can't say I'm that bothered about what happened 70 years ago. Its not like USA v Japan is considered a gigantic grudge fixture. Don't care about the England team myself anyway though I'm surprised its taken all day for someone to mention it. I nearly did earlier.
  7. I wonder if Jack sent out any feelers...I kinda ripped off that headline on my blog years later with "Ewood turns to Maradona." http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/6194224.ROVERS__Ewood_looks_to_Cruyff___Peter_White_reports/ Apparently they will be "halting" Holland's game (presumably tonight) in the 14th minute. Not sure how that works if someone happens to have rounded the keeper on 13:59 will they give him a few extra seconds to put it in? Only an exhibition I suppose it would be asinine to introduce that kind of thing in a "competitive" fixture. Feyenoord did a tribute as well in the 14th minute. Cruyff was obviously a man capable of holding grudges as when Ajax didn't extend his contract he reacted by joining Feyenoord and won a domestic double! Not sure if Ajax fans were angry with him (maybe moreso the club and if they were angry with him it obviously didn't last) and Feyenoord fans obviously accepted him. Albeit probably not a "warm welcome" initially.
  8. Going to be blatantly pedantic again (at least I don't moan about typos) but why do people often say "enjoying a pint" instead of just "a pint?". I've never heard the line "enjoying a box of tic tacs" before that's for sure. Or even a reference to someone "enjoying a pepsi" for instance. I mean some people (like me) like Pepsi far more than alcohol!
  9. I bet there would be more Rovers fans if that happens than for the youth semi at Stamford Bridge. Seems somewhat strange to me (strongly assuming I'm accurate) the youth semi is far more important. I'm not going to that so certainly won't be trailing down there to watch Accrington!
  10. Yeah ok. Guilty. Just been in an irritable mood today.
  11. I mentioned them myself the other day. Though that was an email about pre season (moreso about my recent suggestion of playing a major European side) saying what a complete waste of time playing such clubs is. Anyone know how Darwen are doing? Oh wait...who cares? How do you know that? Did he say hey MCMC I'm enjoying this?
  12. He probably won't get most of it but ironic if he does. Lost a large part of his fortune after being sued himself plus whatever his wife got in the divorce. Who else has lost so much being sued and possibly gained it all back by suing? Hogan might be an egomaniac but he certainly isn't boring. Random comment but did you know he hates cucumbers?
  13. I can't remember ever going there. Passing by on a train maybe but I don't really count that.
  14. Pre season after promotion. Without looking at the link I think the attendance just passed 20,000. Leslie got the winner and I think there was a penalty too probably scored by Dunn. It wasn't quite the Barcelona standard of recent years don't think likes of Rivaldo played any part either. Might as well say it was Nelson who beat Real Madrid. They actually were a Football League club at one stage and several years after Darwen. I guess Fleetwood is the smallest by population in MANY years though its no secret how they got into the FL. Nelson. Gainsborough, Darwen etc level populations probably became far less frequent over the years and I'm not including clubs in various London boroughs. Nelson claim to have ambitions of reaching the conference (unlike Darwen it appears to be the original club though they took "time out" for a season or so not long back) but they might need an "investor" on Fleetwood level even to manage that! Checked wikipedia and Nelson apparently has a slightly bigger population than Fleetwood.
  15. After seeing who it was (and yes "something similar" would be accurate) it is rather disappointing Rovers have never played them. At least as far as I can recall but as mentioned a while back there's a good case for playing them (or another major international club) in pre season. There's still catering (possibly even free for ST holders) and increased corporate opportunities. I still wouldn't advocate what Bournemouth did and charge £60 though its certainly a bigger deal for them to play clubs like Real Madrid. Unlike Rovers who have played Barcelona (probably the biggest continental club Rovers have played and on 2 occasions) and all major English clubs numerous times throughout the clubs history.
  16. Don't normally do trivia but just found out who the first English club to beat Real Madrid away were. Have a go at the answer...and don't cheat!
  17. One of Lambert's other reported options in November, Queens Park Rangers have plans to slash their playing budget this summer. Considering what they have spent this may have been a decision taken even if FUP didn't exist. http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/qpr-slash-playing-budget-here-11053232
  18. Extremely quiet week for FUP other than quotes from the Forest owner. If anyone intends to attend at least 1 away game between now and the end of the season Forest might be the best option. Seems like the perfect time for both fans to possibly take part in anti-FUP chants, etc considering both clubs have suffered because of it.
  19. PSG 7-0 up away to cast adrift Troyes and still half a hour to go... EDIT-Finished 9-0 and apparently PSG's record league win.
  20. Live (and recorded) online you can watch the Hulk Hogan v Gawker sex tape trial! For those who haven't heard... Hogan was filmed without his knowledge having sex with the wife of "Bubba the love sponge" . Gawker gained access to it then posted it online. Don't worry they won't be showing the tape on the stream! Court stream is a bit too long for me tho... http://livestream.com/wildabouttrial/events/4901523 This is the type of headline coming from the trial thus far... http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/10/business/media/gawker-editors-testimony-stuns-courtroom-in-hulk-hogan-trial.html?_r=0 Hogan certainly has a tendency to be involved in unfortunate recordings.
  21. I've felt for some time they are the "United equivalent" of Spain while Barcelona (not that their fans aren't demanding!) are more likable. Look at Real's history (especially during the dictatorial Franco regime) though I preferred Barcelona even before knowing about that.
