  1. This isn't about one game tonight but more about next season if Lambert leaves and there's no backing... Do you think Venkys know Rovers can be relegated again?
  2. Wrestling stereotyping foreigners whatever next! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-35967298 Despite that ridiculous overreaction I do find the "evil foreigner" stuff (was wrong that Rusev would be "jobbing" within a year but his "push" is certainly less prominent) boring and uncreative. It certainly worked in the 80's but now we call for more "sophisticated" characters than "he's foreign and he's evil." Feel sorry for some of the foreign WWE wrestlers because they will always have a gimmick based on whichever country they are from. That's just limiting them and everyone knew Rusev was Bulgarian while he was pretending to be Russian. There are certain exceptions like Muhammad Hassan with a different take on the usual considering he was African American complaining about stereotyping. Plus Kaientai's feud with Val Venis which stereotyped Japanese people but at least it was "over the top" and funny. Of course the event in the link was nothing special and the most basic type of wrestling show by sounds of it. Anyone with the slightest clue about wrestling would know to expect things like that. Maybe this idiot should have watched some shows first because causing such severe emotional distress to himself and his kids. I guess Tony Spitfire won too that must have really angered him.
  3. No mention of it wrecking dreams as well... http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/apr/04/football-league-clubs-financial-health-checkup Reports however that PSG not concerned by FUP as they prepare a 112 million bid for Christiano Ronaldo... http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/658312/Man-United-transfer-PSG-Cristiano-Ronaldo-Real-Madrid-gossip
  4. They did get one right and that's scrapping that godawful "divas" title. If Phil Jones was a belt... Still would prefer if they just scrapped women's wrestling altogether seems people have to sit through pointless 15-20 minute matches with them now as well. So Raw tonight...unless HHH/Vince/Reigns, etc start the show that will no doubt be the last anyone sees of them for 3 hours.
  5. Its spectacle over substance. That's why there was a HIAC less than 6 months since there were 2. What a HUGE deal those matches used to be (its certainly not the Undertakers fault its the product) but its all watered down, watered down, watered down. When they manage to water down an inferno match can't help feeling like its almost on purpose. What next...first nosebleed? Cena has heat with a certain section of the crowd. Unfortunately the kids seem to ruin it for the adults lol. Though the irony is more kids watched in the late 90's and Sky didn't seem to censor things on those Friday nights! They certainly didn't cut the Val Venis "castration" naked footage! Though since my first knowledge of wrestling was playing videogames (such as Royal Rumble on Megadrive was told it was "fake" pretty much from that moment) I did always kinda hope Doink might show up... Ironic thing is when I started watching it was because I got Sky. My thoughts were it was aimed at kids and now I realise my expectations were pretty much what the early-mid 90's product looked like. Swear if I have to hear "hall of famer", "legend" on a show one more time I'll scream out loud. One of the best things about the Attitude Era (looking back) is none of that egotism. Yes the WWE have always been quite prone to "tooting their own horn" but it was nothing like it is now! When did they keep bringing back people from 97-2001? Shawn Michaels made several appearances after his first retirement (he was under contract though, wasn't old and was injured) and Jesse Ventura. They had a massive reason with Ventura though looking back I didn't really know his past stint then and I can't rememebr what I thought about him being a state governor! Not bringing more back didn't hurt one single bit. Now its just a lazy option for the "writers". They have the easiest job in world just having to write the same boring garbage week after week. It seems they bring someone back every week and you know what? It don't mean a damn bit of difference in the rating. Guess they don't care though as long as they continue to make good profits (so many revenue sources and no significant competition) with a boring, stale product. I like Austin a great deal but really what's the point of just having him show up and stun someone? Undertaker is an exceptional case he still wrestles and as far as I'm concerned can do what the hell he likes!
  6. Yet they broke several company records. That's the issue business needs to go down before it goes up. That's what happened in 97 (though they did begin to improve in 96) and really WCW going out of business was a bad thing. Never really watched it (other than that awful Channel 5 show with batman style censoring which at least was funny) but its evidently changed WWE for the worse. I still like Vince a lot but even he would admit he's an egomaniac which in many ways has been a good thing where he's concerned. The problem is that things like the hall of fame (good god I detest that its everything the attitude period wasn't) are just complete and utter egotism. Why it gets so much attention is beyond me. I don't like being critical because I'm as big a fan as you can get of the 97-2001 (watched from September 97 onwards though in past few years much more semi regular) product. Right now though its the least I've watched in years and honestly I would rather have watched stuff from 98 (even after seeing it several times) than Wrestlemania live last night. That's saying something considering how cheap the network is. How can you surprise people any more though? Shane's elbow (the only thing I bothered to look at) was hardly shocking and anyone who saw Summerslam 2000 would consider that minor. Cole clearly giving a nod to Mankind is once again "tooting their own horn" it was nothing like that. Announcers yelling "don't do it Shane" if we are supposed to compare that to Jim Ross in June 98 its laughable. Just couldn't be bothered to watch it and I consider the Undertaker to be the best thing about the company. Are we also supposed to forget its been less than 6 months since he had a "pink rope hell in a cell match?" Still don't get what the point of the match was nothing unpredictable happened. They had Austin, Rock, etc in the building and didn't do a damn thing nobody could have seen coming. I just can't watch over 4 hours of "self referential", "hall of famer this and that", complete and utter pure egotism. I blame the internet to a slight extent too ever since 2001 can't help looking at the shows more critically. Granted that's partly because they got worse. I guess it was always going to happen but kinda wish I hadn't looked. With twitter now more and more people know all the "inside" stuff anyway. For goodness sake I didn't even realise for about a year (97-98) they did untelevised events! It was a massive deal to me when Ken Shamrock called out the Undertaker as "Mark". Can't remember if I even knew what day Raw was on in the US. I remember someone at school telling me that Undertaker and Kane were gonna have an inferno match on Raw and not really believing it. The people I watched it with didn't believe it either and then its announced about 30 seconds into the show! With all the information overload sometimes I almost wish it was 4 channels again. Well that and sky...I miss the 90's.
  7. Sure I saw someone mention Finney and his wife once clearly implying something negative? What was that all about or is it even accurate? Never heard anything negative about Finney as a person (or player) really other than that veiled reference. Jack was born in Blackburn without doubt unless his Mum and Dad lied to him for no apparent reason. There's a plaque on Randal Street unless some scum has nicked it again.
  8. Ahead of the City v PSG clash here's a story on how both clubs were almost "kicked out" of the CL in 2014 by FUP. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3520933/Manchester-City-Paris-Saint-Germain-spared-Champions-League-bans-plea-bargain-punishments-2014.html How NOT to revive a declining league... http://www.calciomercato.com/en/news/revealed-italian-fa-will-promulgate-financial-fair-play-rules-fo-357336
  9. To think I had considered not betting on Madrid because of Ronaldo! Guess it was an extension of my "no bets on Man United" rule (him being a major ex player) but fortunately I ignored it! Even if this ref gifts Barcelona an equaliser I'll win something.
  10. Goddamn referee and commentators (whistle was from crowd, whistle was from referee, clowns) probably cost Madrid the game and more importantly my bet! Idiot! Real kick in teeth if Barcelona win now at least I'll still get something if its a draw. Great he's sent Ramos off now. EDIT-Bloody hell never thought I would be glad of Christiano Ronaldo's existence. Still can't stand him tho money or not.
  11. Bloody Benzema excellent chance and he finishes it like Jaap Stam. Still 0-0. Got money on this by the way hence "bloody Benzema." EDIT-Oh by the way its two teams called Barcelona and Real Madrid playing.
  12. Unfortunately (as I'm sure you were hinting) it wouldn't have been a surprise if it was something else. Not by any means in the case of Travis (who I don't know much about and cancer obviously isn't due to drugs) but wrestlers who are commonly known to have drug/alcohol problems and the number of previous deaths. Problem is the US media (International even less so) don't really care if its only wrestlers and mostly see wrestling as just WWE anyway. There is the "wellness policy" in WWE but that does not extend to whole industry. I'll admit being selfish and wishing there were still regular chairshots to the head (blood has generally been blading, hardway or total accident but they could use blood capsules) but 21st century there's so much liability too. Those chairs are real but concussions are a problem in WWE hence Daniel Bryan's premature retirement. As Mick Foley said if someone got thrown off that cell now the match would probably be over. He was actually hurt worse by the 2nd (and unplanned) fall. I wonder if Shane will take a "huge bump" this weekend going through tables certainly isn't an issue for PG.
  13. At Forest there is takeover interest from the owner of Olympiakos. Quite unexpected considering their FUP status. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/6524746/SunSports-daily-football-round-up.html?CMP=spklr-_-Editorial-_-TWITTER-_-TheSunFootball-_-20160330-_-Football-_-413412323-_-Imageandlink
  14. Bang on couldn't have summed it up any better. I'm fully aware of it when I came here in 2005 I mentioned the Walker family/trustees in virtually every post. In 2009 it was a bit better and even people like Ste B (one of the main people who endured me at my worst) have said my posts have been better recently since returning. Unfortunately it has lapsed again but I'll work on it. Thankfully I've avoided alcohol and drug problems (don't drink though that's largely more personal taste than lifestyle and I've always been sensible enough to listen regarding drugs) though I've been on sertraline recently and its helped. I do have a bad habit of drinking too much Pepsi/Coke though...lot of caffeine. Also on the border of being underweight (probably slightly crossing it) but that's more physical than mental. If Rovers were in the PL then Jack's name would be more notable. Everyone agrees Jack wanted the former but they go hand in hand. Just as his takeover went hand in hand with publicity he mostly didn't want excluding his rare pitch appearances. Even with that he probably needed encouragement. Though I imagine his attempt to motivate the crowd against Forest was his idea (which was quite successful its the game that was a bloody disaster!) as nobody could have had that effect more than him. I've also been making edits to Jack's wikipedia profile its not lengthy enough. As for what I said earlier about suspending me please don't lol! Only if I post about this on the thread again!
  15. I went to a few games there with a friend that was it you can call it glory hunting or whatever. To be honest I probably will go to the Etihad again because I like the club (I liked City before 2008 and they don't play in the same league as Rovers at the moment anyway) someone on here said they attended the Dynamo game recently presumably as a neutral. OK maybe if I attend its slightly more than just being a "neutral" but going there was the only thing I enjoyed about football at that point. Even then I was still miserable most of the time. Look I know it comes across as "sympathy seeking" but what else can I say? Don't people know what depression is? Its like I said its been much better recently (going to the doctors and getting counselling helps) and if you don't believe me just look at the timing. I assure you that simply appointing Lambert (I've supported his appointment as you can see) wasn't the reason. For goodness sake I'm guilty as hell of taking football too seriously but this is real life. Abuse and arguments take their toll on someone who's already depressed than someone who isn't. You don't know how it felt for me (especially at that time) being told I wasn't a real fan simply for refusing to wish luck to Phil Jones. Yet after stuff like that and other countless examples people are shocked that I left! If you seriously think my extreme anger (and admittedly often obnoxious) attitude in the past was just down to a bad temper you're wrong. Believe me I've handled stress a lot better recently for the most part. As you say however "not good for you" and if you recall I was kicked out of Ewood. I did that because I was at an extreme level of stress. Believe me I have social anxiety and honestly don't want publicity which is the reason I stick to forums. I call it social anxiety you can call it being a coward hiding behind a keyboard if you like! if I wanted publicity why on earth did I leave at that point? Surely that would have made no sense? How do you know a ban wouldn't have followed soon after. I was lucky not to be arrested for trespassing! I'm not trying to come across as a martyr (I'm not) its simply my nature to defend myself. If people get upset about Kean and Venkys (and rightly so) nobody would call that trivial. A lot of that is about what they have done to Jack's legacy so really its along the same lines. Yes Jack never courted publicity (going on the pitch to celebrate or speak to the fans are the most public things he did) but it bothers me that he isn't more famous than he is. Especially when people like Ferguson (and yes I note the media lovefest for United) get constant eulogies written about them probably by journalists he's threatened to ban in the past. Egomaniacs like him being referred to as "sir" while a good, decent man like Jack gets nothing in comparison. That's another reason why I've complained so much about "local mentality." Its about protecting his legacy AND wanting him to be remembered for ever. I was always a huge fan of Jack even at my lowest point that never wavered. Maybe I should just let the obsession with this go (nobody can say I haven't spoken up for Jack though its not like I made a big PR stunt out of going to his gravesite like BRAG did) but you know why its hard? Because I am loyal regardless of what you think. If this isn't the last post I make on this thread (on this subject at least) please suspend my posting for a few days. I'm tired of talking about it and we are never going to totally agree are we? I'm sorry Abbey but there's no point debating with you because you're so "black and white" about everything. In some ways we are similar though because we both have our own "pet subjects" (such as you with Venkys which I agree with) that we find hard to control.
  16. People can call it sympathy seeking if you want but here's the basic facts. I was bitter, I was angry, I was depressed and as I've indicated it wasn't just Rovers related. Can we PLEASE just leave it at that? I've managed to mostly forgive (if not forget) how about remembering the countless times I brought up his legacy? All the countless hours I spent arguing about it and while people didn't usually agree (though a growing number of people started criticising the trustees as one example) don't make out that I didn't care enough. There is no truth in that whatsoever his legacy was ALWAYS on my mind. Literally every waking moment as it still is now. Obviously I can't criticise others for leaving but look at their reasons. They didn't like the owners, relegation, Kean, etc. Then compare it to my list of reasons (certainly not due to relegation though my anger towards Venkys in particular wasn't healthy) and see who has the stronger argument. People moaned because I argued too much and then called me a quitter because I had enough of arguing about it and left. Can't win can I? Don't you remember late 2011? I nearly lost the plot and was losing self control. Had to get out when I did and just stop making a bigger deal of City than it really is. How many more times do I have to explain myself? I have an excessive compulsion to be extremely defensive (the diagnosis has been noted) and I'm sorry but that's just the way it is. EIT is one of the best posters on here and I don't want to see his thread derailed. If you respond to this I can't guarantee that won't happen because as you say it "sets me off". So please just leave it at that. Hate to point this out since he's a United fan (that's right its a dig at United sorry for focusing more on them than whether Accrington Stanley might get promoted) but it takes dedication to be the best in your field. Maybe "rode a bike" was a bit dismissive of someone who was a World Champion. I would never for instance say Alex Ferguson was a rubbish manager despite my high dislike for him. Yes I note its "most famous" and not "should be most famous" but when some people suggested Jack wasn't the most famous (whether true or not) that "set me off." I genuinely didn't want to start an argument but its not just me who has little self restraint on here. Its always angered me that people like Ferguson get their endless eulogies while Jack gets virtually nothing in comparison. Complaining because someone makes a negative remark about Rovers on Soccer Saturday for instance is absolutely trivial in comparison. Jack was a greater man and bigger legend than people like that will ever be and its about time the media recognised it. If they don't then its up to us to remind them until the message sinks in.
  17. Because maintaining Jack's memory is serious to me and its hurtful he isn't winning this debate by a country mile. Not going to blame anyone specifically but its relevant to use this topic to highlight it. As fans we can work together to ensure Jack's name is out there at EVERY opportunity. Not for PR reasons...for iconic reasons! Sorry it had to be said whether it comes across as whingeing or not. Continue the debate about who IS top but don't forget who SHOULD be top!
  18. In a minority sport. He rode a bike that's sod all compared to what Jack did for this club and town. As far as local Blackburnians Jack has to be top of the list and if he isn't something is badly wrong. One of the biggest reasons to get into the PL is to keep Jack's memory more prominent. Forget Shankly, forget Clough (though I liked Clough and seen/read good things about Shankly), forget arrogant egomaniacs who get undeserved knighthoods. Jack is the biggest legend ever in football far as I'm concerned not just in Blackburn! There's nothing that tops what he did. If he isn't the most famous Blackburnian nationwide/worldwide we should do our best as Rovers fans to ensure he takes his rightful place.
  19. Being in the Premier League is best way to ensure his name is known nationwide/worldwide. Can't understand how a guy who rode a bike could be more famous than someone who was massive influence on the whole football industry.
  20. Well its up to the fans to keep his name out there. No thanks to others the longer the club remains out the top flight the more people (outside Blackburn) will forget him. That angers me a great deal. Its no wonder I've never really wanted the club to "do business quietly" and keeping Jack's name out there is a major reason. Ridiculous how media go on about Ferguson (vomit), Best (drunk who kept drinking after a transplant), Shankly, Clough, etc. I would say Jack tops the whole damn lot. (I liked clough and only read positive things about Shankly but Jack deserves mentions in the same breath)
  21. Denials from Sunderland sources that their FUP supporting owner will sell the club. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sunderland-sources-deny-ellis-short-11101478 Article on Fulham's struggles not made any easier for Jokanovic (who was linked here and its too early to say he's been a flop at Fulham) largely thanks to their FUP embargo. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/mar/28/fulham-shahid-khan-league-one-championship
