1. We're going to get spanked playing that formation, you can't 'have a go' against a team that can play football 10 times better than you and expect to get anything. T'Axe should have been protecting the back four in my opinion, especially considering the formation they play. Hopefully I'm wrong wink.gif

Doing OK so far, 7 shots on target could be 2 or 3 up but for Van Der Sar. Ref is going to gift the game to United, I already don't like the double standards. United are allowed to hold down our players for every headed ball, arms on shoulders, both arms holding our players. Silvestre on Bellers was a deliberate knee. Pedersen gets called for a perfectly good sliding tackle. You watch a ref's decision will either change or gift the game to the Glazers.

  2. Looking forwrad to it but not too confident. As we saw what happened against newcastle with one upfront at HOME i say just go for broke and go 4-4-2.

    Friedel

    Neill  Zura  Nelsen  Gray

    Bentley  Savage  Reid  Pedersen

    Bellamy  Dickov

    Subs...encks, jansen, emerton, tugay, mokoenna

    348930

I'd swap Dickov for Kuqi. Remember we must try to get around Utd's back 4 we won't have any joy trying to go through them. Play wide, get at em and whip the crosses in behind 'em for Kuqi and Bellers. We can beat 'em that way they are always shaky when teams do that. With Dickov we'll try to go through 'em Dickov will not get the foul calls, even less than normal, and will spend all the game whining at the ref.

  3. Do you want me to start laughing now USA? tongue.gif  tongue.gif  - seem to have been asking that for quite a while

Seriously though personally I don't think people are over reacting - some questions have to be asked and the criticism being thrown at Hughes or whoever is justified - somehow I just feel there may be some good to all this and somewhere over the rainbow is our pot of gold or something similar if you know what I mean.

    348227

The criticism is justified in his tactics for the Newcastle game. All around I think he has done a ggod job. Remember Hughes is learning also, he just does not have the knowledge that us fans do wink.gif I know what you mean about the rainbow, I think we will get over a hump and do well. Problem is the paying public of Blackburn will have long since been lost and as I have said before it will take something special to get them back.

BTW, I did not see the game but how did we manage to be boring with over 20 shots at goal?

  4. rover.gif sounds like one or two are very dissapionted in sparky,i was his biggest advocate to become manager, but the football is the worst fare we have suffered since howard kendall and look what he did.

    348139

You won't hear any I told you so's from me.

Let's all be realistic here. I think we are all over reacting a bit. It's 6 games in, our main striker is still not match fit, our big man is still adjusting give it a bit more time. We have showed we can play some decent stuff.

I have no clue thought why Hughes decided to go 4-5-1 on Sunday. I was stunned when I heard the line up. That game is gone, a few tough games coming up, we are only 3 points off 8th if we can string a few results together things will look a lot better.

  5. Well today we saw one club who by there own standards are in the sh*te much more than us.

How did they respond, by singing their hearts out for 90 minutes and getting behind their under fire manager for the whole game.

How do we respond when the chips are down? By sitting in silence and coming on an internet messgeboard to whinge.

The fickleness to start calling Hughes and suggesting Souness could have done just a good a job over the last year is pathetic, two faced and sums up a un healthy amount of out fans.... Bandwagon jumping fools who are still on the gravy train hangover from the mid nineties.

    347793

    Well said that man.

  6. Hi folks.

Well today, I had breakfast in Carcassonne, lunch in Toulouse and dinner here in Biarritz and have just found out the score today.

    Je veux vomir.

    sad.gif

    347812

And I rode my Harley through the Salt River Canyon with an extremely fit young lady on the back but I still don't feel too much better. ( Well, OK the extremely fit bird was my wifes neice but that's besides the point)

  7. I'm not even going to read the posts on here cos I think I pretty much know how they are going to go. I have a few words, gutted, sadenned, disappointed, hurt, not surprised. It beggars belief, sounds like we have not yets fixed our inability to make the most of our chances.

Man U up next L'pool not far behind that it looks like we are back to square one when Hughesy came.

Sidenote, I watched the Fulham and W. Ham game this weekend and I noticed Mr Poll let go way more than he did in the Rovers Bolton game. Further proof that it is in fact the media (or the FA) that is influencing the outcome of some games. Another reason the bums aren't going in the seats.

Really, looking at the way things have been for us, we have a knack of ending teams negative stats. It was almost written in the stars, Shearer to score (again from a disputed free kick) Owen would grab his FIRST for Newcastle. Newcastle would record their FIRST win and their goal drought would end. It is just all too much to bear, I've had enough of footy for a bit. Well till about Tuesday.

  8. Yup. Pretty much the same as on here. The prices, no atmosphere, defensive tactics adopted by all, life bans for swearing, Sky TV etc. It p***ed me off for a couple of seasons but now I've largely given up on it. I'll come back regularly when all the 'Nick Hornby' fans have gone back to Marks and Spencers on a Saturday afternoon, when the seats have been replaced with terraces and when it costs less to get on the Turf than fly to Rome and back.

Being a loyal fan seems to be reliant on a healthy disposable income these days. Well I dont remember seeing many of these prawn sandwich munchers who fill our grounds today getting on the bus to Brighton at six in the morning on Boxing Day ten years ago. But now, after spending £23 for a seat, I must watch my language so as not to upset them.

    Well f*** 'em.

    347139

Perhaps your best post ever Sam.

  9. Referees really do seem to have it in for Savage, he barely has to step foot over the white line and the yellow card comes out. Conversely he was hacked down by a late challenge early on yesterday and the Bolton player never even received a ticking off.

Moaning at the ref isn't the most palatable part of the modern game but Savage is by no means the only culprit.

Does anyone really think that Poll would have booked say Roy Keane (or indeed anyone from "the big three") in similar circumstances?

    346567

I thought that was a disgraceful challenge by Stelios. Stelios himself went on to whine at the ref on plenty of occasions, as did Campo, as did Davies not stop.

  10. Poll has a grudge against Savage anyway for using his toilet so he would have booked him regardless.  I thought he had a good game and did his job perfectly well.

    346182

That's funny cos I was thinking if this is a top English Ref then our officiating is in worse shape that I thought. I don't think he did us any favours, whilst managing to do a few for Bolton. I thought he was inconsistent both ways, I was not impressed with his all round game. Add to that the disgraceful booking of Matteo and it sums up his poor performance IMHO. Two more yellows for us just cos Poll had a bad un, does not seem right.

  11. Granted he did more than Matty, I don't think would argue with that, and as stated I wouldn't have started with Jansen. As for criticsing Kuqi, it's hardly over the top. In fact as stated before IF we can get his touch better we will have a very good player on our hands, at the moment it seems to be holding his game back.

In some ways it's a bit like Emerton who has great potential/ability but is held back/irritates fans because he doesn't use it properly or doesn't know how to.  The positives with Kuqi is that he seems willing to learn, and it is a definate area/skill which can be specifically targeted/worked on.

    346782

I don't disagree about the touch bit, not at all, neither was I referring to you. The criticism in general is harsh. I think if you think back to the early games and take in his performance at Bolton you may notice his touch and control actually have improved a bit. I think the blokes gonna be a good un.

  12. This game was crying out for Kuqi or Dickov to start, to ruffle a few feathers and to be fair the former did when he came on. Sadly that's all he did, as a lack of technique/that but of extra quality that was just missing, meant the difference between sometimes threatening and downright dangerous. One time which typified this was when the ball was played towards the Bolton left back area, Kuqi outmusled the defender in getting the ball, and then promptly lost it when he had a clear run down the wing through lack of control. If Hughes can improve his technique and touch we have the bargain of the season on our hands, if not we've got another Ashely Ward.

    346523

All of which was about 100 times more than Matt "can do no wrong in some folks eyes" Jansen did in twice the amount of time. I find it bewildering how people on here can defend Jansen yet criticise Kuqi. He had a definate impact.

As for the game, I thought we did well, I was not expecting to come away with anything. More teams will come away from the Reebox empty handed than not. The game plan was well executed to suit a stifling Bolton team. As for entertainment well I don't recall seeing an entertaining game with Bolton featuring for quite sometime. We did what we had to do IMHO and we did try to snatch the game, but let's not forget Bolton close you down quickly, it's not easy to play against them, ALL the top teams had trouble with Bolton last year, why not us?

  13. Back to topic, I find it interesting that when Kuqi plays as the lone striker, he's clearly a complete carthorse whereas when Matty plays the role, we can't possibly judge him on that as he was isolated and got crap service.

I don't see why Kuqi deserves less forebearance when he did score 20-odd goals last season, without Duffer on the wing and Cole playing alongside him.

    346682

A point I raised on another thread. Seems it is not the carthorse that has the blinkers on. Never mind last season he clearly scared the bejeebers out of the Bolton defence. He put them in bother on several occasions, if he had a strike partner we could have been looking at a comfortable victory.

I think it is out of order to call him a carthorse anyway, he has very deceptive speed, thats why Notlob almost got caught out, they thought he was slow too. Obviously some of our fans will not take to him until he's bagged 30 goals even then they'll moan I'm sure.

  14. It's the Admiral's first crack at Bolton, isn't it?  He'll enjoy them!  Just looking at last year's reports, and remembering, my they were lucky at Ewood - never mind Spit's play-acting,  at least two of them should have got sent off!

Should be a cracking game.  Graham Poll's the referee.

Bellamy probably won't be quite ready but 'twould be nice to see Kuqi get his first league goal, Dickov sneak in another and perhaps a classy one from MGP.  I'll settle for any two of the three against one from Bolton!

    345834

See may get your wish mum, I can see Kuqi being a bit of a bother for Notlobs defence. Games on Telly over here, PPV though but I plonk down me money and watch it. Fingers crossed for a result.

  15. 1. If anywhere deserved it, it was America. Fact. You are the worlds biggest problem.

    2. From the massive amount of 'small town' american press, your countries making themselves look even worse. Why are we reading all these stories about how rich white folk are demanding to be housed as refugees together, in certain areas, with certain people etc etc, whilst they don't even acknowledge half the poor people can't even get out the city? If you won't even help yourselves, why should you get help from elsewhere?

    3. Dollar totals? Dont be so daft. Its americans that think in dollar totals. We are all hoping for a maximum devastation, minumum deaths. Its clear to see who is thinking in dollar totals when you look at what has and hasnt been destroyed in N.O - Note all government property seems to be fine, and the only tourist attractions showing any sort of strain are the Superdome and Convention Centre.

    4. Human suffering? You think that doesnt happen elsewhere every single day? Shell have shot up half of Nigeria to get the fuel to your car. Nike exploit sweatshop workers worldwide - yet these companies are seen as trendsetters, world leaders, something to be admired, thanks to American freemarket ideals. Don't see any of you yanks whinging about that ever though. Nice to see the minute the sh*t hits the fan, Walmart and Foot Locker are raided instantly. At least there is a couple of people left in your country with their head screwed on.

    5. Halliburton were given the contract for the cleanup (probably uncontested, but i havent found proof of that yet) way back in July. Alarm bells are ringing.

    6. I geniunely believe, from what i have read, that there was NO INTENTION to save many of the poor in N.O. This is why it was several days before red cross etc was allowd in.

Your governments shafted you, again. Nay mind, you'll still vote for the same party next time, because you 'always do'.

    345276

1, No one deserves this, except perhaps bigots such as yourself.

2,I can not find one ounce of sense in. What are you trying to say? You have only the media to judge events by. A media skewed in it's anti bigger than us"bias" as American Media is in sensationalism and ignoring the good. Let's face it us English have never forgiven the Yanks for throwing our tea in the Ocean and then having that bunch of ragamuffins royally kick our collective arses.

3, Dollar totals, don't be daft it's the English that think in dollar totals. Want proof? Check the Tsunami thread and see who brought up how "little" the yanks are giving. You started it.

4, Your point is mute. Yes there is suffering every day. Which Country is talking of boycotts at fuel suppliers? To protest the high fuel tax, hey how else are you going to support the "Asylum Seekers" and the like while it's own Country's citizens go without. Would you care to state that there are no British companies not doing the same, and prove it. WHo are one of the richest oil companies in the WORLD, ever heard of a little outfit call BRITISH Petroleum. Why do the English clamour for those products that are American Corporate brand then, do you yourself own NOTHING from an American based Corporation, you have NEVER eaten at McDonalds or any other Yankee Doodle franchise.

5, We need to hire the person who awarded the contract for the New Orleans clean up a whole month before the hurricane even developed, he is better than Nostradamus and could do a fantastic job predicting other unforseen disasters. Do you actually understand how this storm developed, I don't think so.

6, You "GENUINELY BELIEVE" from "WHAT YOUV'E READ" that statement sums you up in actuality. First you genuinely believe, then you disassociate yourself from your belief by claiming your beliefs come from text. The Sun would like you to subscribe and do yourself a favour, don't read any Harry Potter books you'll be scared of the dark.

    Now,

A point or two of my own. 1 DO NOT judge America or it's people by what you read, or the media. To know them you have to live amongst them. They have bad and good but I will tell you what, the outpouring of support from the common man over here, the Joe Blows just like me, has brought me to tears on several occasions. I have never experienced anything like it since... well since the Tsunami. You have this country and it's people WELL misjudged. Your comments are political, as are most on here, you show your true colours, one of a narrow minded, judgemental, gullable fool who will take what ever he wants to hear as gospel and ignore the truth. As the good book say he who truly seeks the truth will find it, I fear you would not like what you find.

Point 2, I GENUINELY BELIEVE, From WHAT I'VE READ. you're are a pillock of the highest order. Now, I'll say no more on this subject. Until the next disaster of course. Don't cry or get upset I am pointing my finger only at YOU the one who typed the post. I am not judging a WHOLE NATION based on sensationlistic journalism. Try it, it could broadenyour horizons. BTW I am English, born and bred Accy lad.

  16. So who do you want to take over for Eriksson then?

Are there any English managers good enough atm?

    345623

Post before yours, I did say who. You said so too a few posts later. Trouble is the "old school tie" brigade at the FA would not let that happen.

Sven should have been Goran right after the Chelsea thing, not English and clearly not commited to the cause. A spineless git. Yes I think if you pull off the Mr Burns face mask Souness is under there.

  17. I think we will end up sitting out the World Cup in Germany. I simply don't tink we will get there. I was against the appointment of the Swede from the get go and I've seen nothing to change my mind. OUr team is becoming just like him, emotionless, slow and void of any real passion or fire. We are grace with some real talent, perhaps as fine of a group individually as I have ever seen, pull on the three lions. As a group we are nothing. It is really saddening because we could acheive so much, sack him, give us some fire, someone suggested pyscho not a bad shout that.
