It’s not rocket science lads and Brereton isn’t some type of anomaly. When he signed he was 19, had represented England at a few youth levels and had tore Arsenal a new arse in an FA cup game. The potential was there…the problem was, he wasn’t ready and some fans (not all ) are VERY quick to write off young players.

At the start of the season I asked a member of the current coaching team who they thought were the diamonds in our academy and the answer was instant…”Ash Phillips, Adam Wharton and Harry Leonard. We expect Phillips to be a £25m defender inside 12-18 months…he’s already got PL teams all over him”

Incidentally, he also suggested that the two he was most worried about based on JDT’s expectations were Ayala and Dack as there was a suggestion inside the club that they might not fit….it seems the former has got over those worries, the latter not so much.

The point I make is, ‘They’ know who are the better players etc. If you listen to the rumblings you can see who hasn’t had a chance.

I haven’t seen enough of Vale but they obv see something in him. Fingers crossed they’re right…tbf they’re not often wrong these days on youth! 600+ and counting!

Owen was scoring wonder goals for England at 19. Come on man. Bellingham is now touted as a 100 million player.

BB was cack - he was cack. Now he isnt.

    End of.

Quite a striking comment. I would say Gallagher has been very good in the last 4/5 games and seems to be operating more centrally. He appears to utilising his attributes much more readily, making better use of his frame, height and pace. As I said to my chum after Birmingham on Saturday; he's becoming the bastard we always wanted him to be. Dack could in no way fill that position based on his own physical attributes.

he wouldnt do worse - my opinion.

I would love to see pep or klopp try their hand at a proper challenge. Pep has achieved pretty much all there is to achieve in 3 leagues and is still young. Why not give it a go for a laugh? See how his tactics fair against some brick shithouse two footing everyone and the ref just playing on.

Grab a Stanley and say get to Pl in 5 years - if you achieve that, take 10 mil of PL money.

Brighton have tended to be pretty good at not losing their assets for less than their worth, so I suspect they'll have something up their sleeve on Van Hecke. No idea on what sort of fee he would command or whether it's remotely realistic that we could get him, but if we could put Ayala's wage to getting Van Hecke next year then that would be a tremendous bit of business.

Would be one of the best defenders at this level (obviously if he avoids practising martial arts on the pitch). Ayala will need replacing so definitely need a longer term option.

Just opinions mate. If you don’t like them then Scroll on…similarly if you’d prefer to watch a team every other week whilst spending the rest of your time doing whatever it is that you do and believe that your view on the ability of players and team is better than those of the people who are employed as professionals in the sport and work with the lads day in day out…then feel free crack on with that too 👍🏼

Breretons improvements were as much down to him getting his strength up as anything else. Alongside being used more by the manager instead of ten mins here and there often when the team was struggling.

That happened to coincide with games in lockdown as well.

Absolutely, he has bulked up. Looks a unit now.

  8. In fairness, how do you know he isnt the player he 'was' or that if he isnt, that 'he will never be the same'. We have barely seen him to even make that type of judgement. He says he is fitter than ever.

Unless you have an inside line - you cannot just make assumptions like that. I thought you were Mr. Positive? Surely, you should be positive that Dack comes back to become the same top Championship level player he is/was.
