  1. Hibs fans think the world of him. Seem to belive he can go on a similar path to Robertson now at Liverpool. Another reason they love him along with his playing ability is his attitude, has kicked up no fuss this summer despite repeated bids. Surely fits TM ethos. We need a standout midfieldier in my eyes, and Mccgin would be perfect. Just doubt it has much legs init.

  2. Great news regarding Armstrong. We are now a stronger squad that last season and have some needed pace in the team. My hope now would be for 3 more permanent additions to the team this week with 2 having real quality. In an ideal world that for me would be Maddison and Mccgin, along with a striker who can provide back up to Graham. Maddison would give us a lot of quality out wide and Mccgin would take our midfield up a few notches, I feel our midfield is full of players who are at a similar low level championship standard, although I do think travis could go beyond that. Meanwhile Mccgin is prem quality imo and I expect him to end up there rather than us, but I can dare to hope.

  3. Are we expecting 3 in including Armstrong or on top of Armstrong? If we could get a quality winger like Maddison a decent enough back up striker to support Graham and Mcgin I honestly thing we could have an outside play off chance. We do need quality tho who ever we bring in not squad players.

  4. While we are well stocked in CM McGin would be an increidible signing as he would be far superior to anything we have for that position.

Strangely tho it's probably our best stocked position, so surely someone would have to leave.

Thinking realistically tho that link isn't likely to have any kind of substance and I'm pretty sure Brighton are close to agreeing a fee. Can't see it happening especially as I imagine forward areas are a priority.

  5. We were unlucky today. Their goal was a fluke and we looked fairly comfortable, thought we were gonna see it out so it is gutting. Thought we looked aggressive and also threatening on the ball however we did tire in the last 10 mins so. Think the team showed we can compete and with 1 or 2 quality signings, which is expected, we will be alright.

Despite the disappointment of losing out on 3 points, a point away from home is a decent result. Hope we can get a win next weekend and get that first win in the bag.

  6. I reckon a fee of 1.5 million would be about right, anything more would be too much for Arma. Think the signing makes sense tho my only concern is he isn't a proper winger and isn't the kind of striker who fits our system. Happy tho if this deal goes through his goals last season were vital.

  7. Davenport is injured and palmer has been deemed not fit enough to start and play for 90 mins by TM. At least we will have him as a option from the bench. Hopefully he'll be starting by next weekend.

    Id go for:

    Raya

    Nyambe - Lenihan - Mulgrew - Bell

    Smallwood - Travis

    Samuel - Dack - Bennet/Conway

    Graham

subs: Leuwiter, downing, Williams, Evans, Bennett/Conway, Rothwell, Palmer.

Our lack of forward options is worrying atm, about 2 short. But overall the squad is looking decent. Hoping for a win but a point would be a solid start, however that rarely happens for us on the opening day of the season.

Edwards will be the player to watch out for them I reckon, would of liked to have him here.

  8. I reckon a trio of, clough - dack - palmer behind graham would certainly give us a lot of creativity.

The only issue is that it would make us abit narrow, which in some aspects wouldn't be to much of a bad thing due to the fact most teams who will play us this season will be looking to attack rather than to sit in and defend, so being narrow would make us hard to play through, along with us potentially having some intricuate attractive play at the top end of the pitch. However if we were to play with a narrow 3  behind the striker then you have to have fullbacks who bomb forward constantly to provide width, which we haven't really seen from our fullbacks, in particular Williams, so not sure it would work.

So having said that I do think we need to bring in a natural wideman who will give us width and pace because in tight games that's what can make the difference in opening a team up.

  9. So if we assume what sharpe says is true, then we do actually have some decent money to bring in a couple of players before the window shuts. Personally Ill belive it when I see it.

However if that is the case and we do bring in 2 quality player, preferably in the attacking area, on pernamanet deals then the window would of been a success. I think for a successful championship model you need to bring 3-4 high quality players each summer which have the scope to get better and can straight away push to be in the staring 11 along with a couple of squad players to supplement the squad.

I wouldn't class Rothwell or Davenport as high quality yet tho the latter certainly has the potential to be, but palmer on the other hand definitely is imo. So if we can get 2 more high quality players to add to him and another squad player then the summer would of been a success. However I think it all depends on who these 7 firgure fee signings will be and if they will even actually happen.
