My understanding is that Morishita played on the wing last season. Scored 14 goals last year and is meant to be rapid. So that should be the pacey winger locked down. EJ has just confirmed that we are looking at another midfielder and hopefully a striker. If we get all 3, and sell Buckley, Pears and Travis (sadly) for good fees then that would conclude a suprisingly very strong window under the circumstances (self inflicted).

The Morishita deal seems to good to be true… Waiting for Jackson to confirm/squash it but as it is bank holiday I don’t feel we will have an update until tomorrow.

I took abit of a battering yesterday on the transfer page for saying things weren’t as bad as people were making out. Today doesn’t prove me right. But I do genuinely think that VI is building something - I’m not sure how it will turn out but there is clearly a strategy and profile and I’m looking forward to seeing how it will come together. In general I’ve liked what I’ve seen of the new signings. Really don’t think we’ll be in the relegation mix - midtable looks a certainty. Onwards and upwards!

Things are far from ideal. Venkys are a mess. However this board is abit overboard with the meltdown. Travis has been offered a better deal somewhere else. As bad as it is, we can’t match it and have to get a fee. We haven’t got a choice. As a replacement we’ve signed our number 1 target. Concerns over fitness so we’ve done a loan with option to buy. That is sensible business. Less risk for the club. Loan with options to buy is the optimal way to do business. I don’t back the board. But I like VI and I can see the teams he’s trying to build. It’s going to take time and I hope us fan will have the patience to see it come through - as frustrating as the last few weeks have been. I just feel we are abit reactionary. WestBrom we weren’t great, but it was a very even game and we had a pen not given. Birmingham we should have won - it was a good performance. Bradford was admittedly a shocker but it happens. Our club is a mess. We deserve better. But we don’t need to find the negatives in every single thing. As much as it is a buzzword, we are in transition ATM, I will be judging the team and window over September/October when things take shape

I’ll be honest. At this point I think we should take the money for Travis and move on. I love Travis, and by no means want him to leave. But at the same time, he clearly does want to go, isn’t going to sign a new contract and isn’t bought into what VI is trying to do. Unlike many, I can see a strategy to what VI is building, and while I think we may suffer in the short term, we need to accept that this year will be transitional for us. For that to be successful we do need players bought into the long term plan. ATM that doesn’t seem to be Travis and it may be better culturally for the club to take a fee and move on. I really struggle to see how we can keep a captain who doesn’t want to be here.

If we had got that Kapaudi lad from Leiga I would actually say our business has been pretty spot on. I think we’re a top end (in relativity) CB and RW from a decent season. Truthfully Carter is our only CB I really rate and he’s always injured…

Miyoshi would be an excellent signing. 12 goals in the championship the season Birmingham were relegated. Quick and good feet - would certainly give us abit of xfactor in the final 3rd. He’s also not a passenger. Great in the press and works hard.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Travis go. But I don’t think Henriksson signing has any bearing on his future.

Why? Axel will compete with Cantwell. He’s an attacking midfielder who is aggressive and strong in the press. Perfect for VI. Travis, Tronstad and Taveres then compete for the defensive midfield role with Montgomery and Forshaw as back up. I would argue if Baradj came in then maybe one of them would have to leave. But Forshaw isn’t going to get games and Montgomery seemingly will be more utilised at RB. So 4 CMs competing for those 2 spots behind the advanced midfielder seems healthy.

Henriksson will be Cantwell competition. Expecting Baradj to get done eventually. Just seems like they want him badly. From there a RW and a CB and we’ll be set. Wouldn’t surprise me if the CB was a prem loan.

Lewis Miller, 750k according to Nixon. Sounds like good value - although clearly won’t be same standard as Brittain. Any Scots know much about him?

This may be a controversial opinion, but I have been suprised and sceptically impressed with our business this summer. With the 4th lad set to sign (who looks like a real coup) we will have already spent highier than what most of us would have expected. Sure, alot of these signings are unknown and could easily flop, the flip side to that is that we could unlock some real value. There’s an element of unpredictability. However, there is at least a clear strategy with these signings and ambition to sign players suited to VI’s play style. It’s the first time in a while I’ve seen us implement an actual strategy in the market and that for me is progress. Whether that pays off is another question, and the jury is very much out on that one. But we’ve spent money, addressed areas of the team that we were lacking (physicality, height, pace) and are getting our business done in relatively good timing. A left CB and 2-3 forward signings are still required, and I’d argue those will be the most important - let’s see how it plays out.

I think I read that De Neve doesn’t need one due to how many games he played in the Belgian top division. De Keersmaecker wouldn’t need one either I believe due to his contributions in the Eredivise. I might be completely wrong!

Looks like Bath and Weimann might head to Derby. I wouldn’t be too bothered if Weimann didn’t resign TBH. He popped up with some important goals last season, but his overall play was pretty ineffective last season. Considering his age and recent injury, offering a significant contract to him doesn’t make sense. Bath would be a bigger loss, no doubt. However again at his age I wouldn’t be paying over the odds to keep him.

Sheffield have rotated but still have a top team out. The big one is that they’ve rested Cooper in net, he’s been very good for them.

Look at their starting 11 v Stoke. Rested a lot of key players - Hamer and Diaz weren’t even in the squad. I doubt that they’ll do that 2 weeks in a row otherwise players will lose sharpness. Really hope I’m wrong!
