I see Leeds have bid for jozefzoon, would suggest they aren’t in for Maddison. Think there is a very good chance that it’s us trying to do a deal in my opinion

My over optimistic self feels like it could be us but that's been unhinged by Sharpe's apparent quite dismissive response regarding Maddison.

  2. Chaddy, dack has no championship experience. If someone bought dack for 2.5 million would you say they got a good deal? I certainly would. I'm pretty sure Maddison got more goal contributions last season than Dack in a worse team.

Im not saying Maddison is better than dack but I'm just putting that in perspective.

Fair enough you rate Kent, but I think I speak for many people on here that they would much rather the permananent signing of Maddison than kent and it would be excellent business if we could pull it off.

Wonder if Ivan Toney or Devante Cole would be considered as the backup striker option, think both are available, id take Toney if the price was right.

Id take Toney aswell, not scored the most goals but having watched a couple of his games his overall hold up play is good and has a good mix of strength, pace and ability.

    Look at the above comment.

Kent was Barnsley young player of the season so cant have been that poor could he?

Why Maddison? Dont see Mowbray spending 2.5 million pounds on him when we need a striker in. I rather sign Kent on loan then sign 2 strikers in Gallagher on loan and Armstrong permanently.

Why Maddison? 23 assists and 11 goals last season ( or something like that) which is more goal contributions than dack.  He also spent a couple of months injured at the end I think. Are u really telling me u would prefer Kent or loan to signing Maddison? I think singing 2 out and out wingers is more important than signing two strikers. Fair enough Kent probably  has potential to do well, but young loan players always take a while to get going and his Bristol city reviews which are from his most recent performances are not so encouraging. I would be very dissapoionted if we only signed Armstrong permanently with two loan signings.

I still think we need to sign one of Maddison and Chapman on permanents as well though. To be honest, Maddison on a perm and Chapman on loan again would be ideal.

I do hope Kent is here to compliment permanent signings and that there isn't a "must play" clause in his deal. Mowbrays should no way agree to that.

    100% agree. Mirrors my thoughts.

Had a good impact at Barnsley didn't he. played in 44 games in the league that season.

    better options?

I would like Chapman and Kent. With Chapman as permanent signing. If we cant sign Chapman then I would look Moses Odubajo or Holmes from Scunthorpe

Would prefer Maddison or chapman as better options. If we had already signed a proven winger I may be more positive about it. Just because a player plays in lots of games doesn't nesscearily mean they are a great player, look at Lowe for an example, tho it normally is a positive the stats for how he actually performed in those games are a much better indication (not sure how many goals or assists he got?). Time will tell if he does well and even if the rumour is true or not.

  7. Kent is underwhelming. He hasn't had any real impact in the championship in two loan spells. Bristol city were fined 500k for not playing him in enough games. I'd imagine it would be the same for us as that is liverpools policy. That would put TM on massive pressure to play him as we don't have 500k to waste. Really feel like there's better options out there. Would rather us get in our perm signings first aswell, but if it is true hoping he proves me wrong and is a success.

  8. Feel like if we can get in chapman and and Maddison (or someone of that ilk) then our matchday squad wouldn't look to bad.

    Raya

    Nyambe - Lenihan - Mulgrew - Bell

    Smallwood - Davenport

    Bennet - Dack - Maddison

    Graham

Subs: Leuwiter, Williams, Travis, Rothwell, Conway, Chapman, Samuel.

We'd also have Downing, Evans, Whittingham available and any of the youth players who we don't loan out. We definitely need a decent striker on top of that but don't think that's too bad or a starting 11 and bench. Probably would prefer Chapman in the starting 11 but is impact of the bench could be very effective and also don't think he should start too many games early on in the season after coming back from a serious injury.

  9. While I don't think SG is the most exciting of players or an ideal lone frontman (yet) I wouldn't be totally against signing him, however only if his wages were around 10kish. He scored 12 goals in the championship with us and that was under coyle with players such as feeney and Lowe feeding him.  He also wasn't a constant starter.

Only issue is that he isn't that quick or particulary strong. Can only see us signing one striker so hope we can do better.

Yes the chairman admitted that in the last 48 hours that Leeds have made bids for both Maddison and Marriott.

Correct me if i'm wrong but he said they had had a bid from them but he didn't confirm if it was for Maddison or Marriot. Or am I remembering that wrong. I could defo see him ending up at Leeds tho, although I did expect them to use the foreign markets with there new manager and that.

edit - just found his tweet in response to a fan asking if leeds had bid for Maddison and Marriot.

We have had bids for them again in last 18 hours but can’t confirm from who. Cheers ??

Maddison not on Posh Portugal trip. Chairman on twitter saying Championship club still working on deal for him so Maddison has stayed in England. It must be close whoever it is (Us, Rotherham, Stoke, Swansea or WBA)

There is also the possibility that a new club has come in for him. Will be interesting to see where he turns up. Fingers crossed.

Would loaning Charlie musonda be out of our range? Don't know much about it like just remember him at Chelsea

What about Joe Gomez from Liverpool loan. Cover RB and CB

Mason holgate and Josh Sims another two might be available on loan

Not sure about the other two but Gomez is an England international and probs would be in the squad if he wasn't injured, also plays regulary at Liverpool.

Anyone know who we are geniunely looking at atm?

I think We're two proven strikers short as well.  If anything happened to Dack, or he doesn't quite fire at this higher level we could be absolutely knackered. Ideally you'd want Graham providing competition and back up for the new arrivals but as it stands it looks as though we'll be lucky to get one in of the required standard.

Right back is actually one of the few areas I'm not concerned about. I would expect Nyambe to be one of our better performers this season and we have plenty of cover in that position if he picks up an injury.

As we only play upfront I reckon one striker who has quality will be enough, agree that 2 would be better but realistically think 1 is probs the best we can hopdo and imo will be enough for us at least until Jan when we can reasess. Need some similar to Graham whose abit younger and them two can challenge for first choice and then have Samuel (who I do think could surprise a few this season) as back up to the two of them.

  14. I think we've got enough cover at rb, I rate Nyambe and he's only going to get bettter. And then we've got travis and bennet who can play there both who have shown they can more than do a job. Really think we're only 2 wingers and a striker short.

Another striker that I wouldn’t be surprised if he is on the radar, is Tom Bradshaw from Barnsley. Good age, scored goals in this league. Will probably be cheap now they have been relegated.

Second this, he should be on the radar, proven to get goals and fits the mould of the kind of striker we need. Havent heard of any interest from us tho and Millwall are currently in talks for him.

  16. This may be controversial but I actually don't think we should sign Armstrong. He was a big part of us getting promoted last season and there's no doubt he would fit in well however I just don't think he fits the system we play. Last season proved we are much better in a 4-2-3-1 formation and that is what I expect we will go with this season. I think we are all in agreement that Armstrong cant play as that 1 man up top on his own, we need someone who can hold it up and get on the end of crosses. While Armstrong can be effective in a wide forward role, the championship will be a step up from last season and IMO we'd be better off bringing in natural wide players who will give us width. I don't think we will get away with playing central suited players out wide again like we did last year with Payne and Armstrong as it makes us unbalanced.

If we are playing 2 upfront then its a different story and he'd be a great signing to link with Graham but I cant see it as I reckon we will need an extra man in midfield to cope with superior sides. As much as I like him I feel we should sign players who fit naturally into the system we play.

    http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/07/10/do-west-brom-among-bookies-favourites-to-sign-peterboroughs-marc/

Maybe it's not us, although it has been reported that 2 championship clubs have met his release clause of £2.5M - Us and West Brom? The bookies clearly don't think it is us.

It hasn't been mentioned on any site that we are interested so unfortunately I'm becoming increasingly confident it's not us. Always seemed a signing which would be too good to be true.

  18. Considering our budget I honestly think our business has been rather good. Davenport is a player who seemingly has big potential and a player who can go straight into the first team. Rothwell is another who has potential aswell as having experience and will be excellent back up to dack. If we get in Maddison, which would be a real coup, then our business will be looking excellent and imo we'd only be in need of another winger (chapman) and a striker before our squad would be ready for the season ahead.  Business has been slower than we would of all liked but sometimes that's how these windows go.

Although it has been frustrating having very little transfer news or rumours for us fans to feed off, it can only be viewed as a positive in my eyes. It shows there are very little leaks within the club and that's how it should be, points to the club being run well, or better than it has been in the past.

Although i think we will sign a couple on loan, unless they have experience in the championship, like Armstrong for example,  I'd rather us give oppuntinuties to our youngsters such as Wharton and Travis. Let's see how the next couple of weeks go.

Posh chairman running his mouth on Twitter again. Whoever is at the negotiating table for Maddison is close to a deal. They weren’t in the Championship last season, and it isn’t Wigan.

Can I still hope this might be us?

This is interesting, I doubt it will be any of the clubs relegated from the prem as they will have bigger budgets and don't normally go for unproven championship players. However there seems to be very little articles linking him to us.

I'm a massive fan of his and he would be a top signing but still doubting it.

Yeah but he is hardly waxing lyrical about the kid - keeping his cards close to his chest I reckon.

Making everything sound 'meh' rather than directly upping any fee for Chapman by declaring how bad he wants him.

I may be wrong here but if TM said in interviews how much he wanted chapman would that not encourage Boro to up the price?
