Maybe I haven't made myself clear Bryan. If the reason for wanting to return is exclusively family related, then he has shown great courage to hand in a request. However, if the reason is because he feels he can't hack it at Premiership level and wants to return to the comfort zone, then yes, he deserves the flack. I am niether defending or attacking the guy at this point (he is still a Rovers player). I prefer to reserve my thoughts until I know more. And BTW I believe the reasons for a move will become apparent after the event. The one problem with his leaving because of the familly is that he said in the last month that he and his familly were happy here. Shame he was honest at that point if family is the real reason.

I'm not saying that we shouldnt start of by asking more than hes worth. That should be standard practice. My point is that we shouldnt hold out for far more than hes worth and accept nothing else.

Ooooh, you are so friendly here , and from admin as well. Ferguson was an average player if we paid 4mil for him. He is now worth 3-4 mil and wants to leave. If we hang onto him till the summer we will have paid him nigh on £0.75 mil in salary. We have to look to move on and be sensible on our baluation and not do a Birmingham.

Please think before you type, there have been lot's of white elephants at many clubs, the big clubs too. True but what do we gain? If he trulty wants to leave he wont put his all in for the club adn will probably be on the bench with Savage and Thommo starting. Hes probably is on 30k a week, that will be about £750k in slary we would pay him before we have a chance to sell him again. That has to be considred as well.

Yes, we can hold out for the biggest price. But that price can only be a realistic valuation. You cannot hold out for more than a player is worth (in comparison toi similar players on the market or have been sold) just beacuase you overpaid for him.

Why? Do you honestly believe he is worth that? Whether or not he's worth that is immaterial - the club are in a strong bargaining position and if Rangers want him that badly, they'll find the money (if indeed it's Rangers that Barry's wanting to go to and not Newcastle...). I do not want a player playing for us if he doesnt want to and has handed in a transfer request. We therfore whould sell him as close to his REAL value. No matter how badly Rangers may want him they will not be as stupid as we were and really overpay for him. We are not in a strong bargaining position as we have a player who wants to leave. That means we have to consider it. It will harm the team otherwise. I I also dont care where he wants to go to. I just want shot of the vastly overated prat of a Scottish Captain.

I feel its sightly on the high side but you have to remember that Cardiff have approval on the price. Have paid similar for similar matches but between lower league teams.

Its commenst like this that make me realise why I havent posted on BRFCS.com. You onviously are not a true fan. Also, on what planet is Feguson worth anywhere near £6mil. Yes hes a better player than when we bought him but we overpaid by at least 50% for him. Us wanting £6mil is like Birmingham wanting £5mil for Savage.

We may have made him a better player yet he is still only worth 3-5 mil. He is not that good. The sooner we dump him the quicker we move on.
