I dont see the bar codes seeing that BBD is better than what they have up front at the moment. In any case, if the rumours are right then it seems there could be a bit of a bidding war building.

Funny how the reports fail to mention the 1 year option that Rovers have on BBD.

Does not make as good a story if he basically has 18 months left.

LancsLive understands that Rovers see Souttar as a viable potential replacement for Darragh Lenihan.

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz

I'm not going to put too much faith in an article by the geordie bootboys especially one that fails to mention we have an option on the contract. Tho if we could get an auction going for him and sell for £25m upwards I'd see that as hard to turn down.

So, the facts are:  He's a small centre half and he's had 3 very serious injuries in the last 18 months and his current club are not fighting to keep him.....🤷‍♂️

No they are not the facts he's 6ft1 not small and his club are doing their best to keep him. Like Brereton not having a contract clause YOU  are making stuff up and then claiming the stuff you make up is fact.

I've just checked the FA rules and you're right - it's after the 19th league game of the season. Then it's a suspension after 10 cards up to the 37th game.

It still doesn't exonerate 3 players doing something daft with a silly bit of time wasting. Obviously it's sensible to do a bit of managing a game when you're only 1 up in the closing stages but those players yesterday were well able to manage keeping hold of the ball against a poor Stoke team.

Dolans booking tbf was a joke the keeper had two kick outs at him and we get two players booked for being kicked at and pushed

This was my first away game of the season - usually I would have done at least one before now. It was bloody cold. Not the coldest I've ever been at a Rovers game (away at Oldham on a Friday night still winning that one) but it's probably in the Top 10.

As with all football fans we get carried away a bit when we win or lose. Lose and everything and everyone is at fault, win and we're a couple more good wins from promotion. Usually both reactions are wrong. It's way too early to be making any serious predictions about the season - we are still 3 games away from half way. In the last 4 games we have gained 5 points on Bournemouth and 7 on West Brom. As we all know those numbers could be reversed in the next 4.

Yesterday as a whole we did not play well. Some of that was the wind which really did spoil things at times. But as a team we did not play all that well for the first hour until we scored. After that we seemed to be in almost complete control and ended up comfortable and deserved the win

I have always championed John Buckley so I am as delighted as anyone to see that many more fans are seeing what I thought I saw a few seasons ago when he made his debut at Hillsborough. I think one reason fans have trouble is that he doesn't loo like our idea of a footballer. He seems to be too slight and be all thin arms and legs. It was somewhat ironic yesterday than in what was probably his best game for Rovers he got an assist for a richochet off his arse for the goal.

Conversely I have struggled to accept that Joe Rothwell is our most creative player. I think he has only occasionally imposed himself on a game for more than a few minutes and too often his long mazy runs have produced no end result. Yesterday was another of those occasions when he was more consistent and particularly his defensive game was more on show. There was one complete brain fade in the first half when he stood and let Harry Pickering defend against two but overall a great performance.

It was frustrating to see us get three yellow cards for timewasting near the end, for Dolan meaning he is on 4 for the season and one away from a suspension. How the referee deemed Nyambe was time wasting with his throw in I don't know, as he usually takes that long when we're losing.

Did we not just pass the cut off point for a bookings ban? I maybe wrong but sure we did

Mowbray gets a lot of abuse, but no one could say Buckley, Rothwell, Brereton and Dolans natural game is to press. He's done a very good job in terms of turning them into players who are always looking to close down the opposition.

I disagree about dolan he's showed from moment one that he will graft his heart out for the badge and he deserves immense credit for that. Both on and off the pitch that young man sums up arte et labore.

How? I said he has improved so I don't just hammer the lad...I expect more for someone when people act as another poster pointer out it's like the second coming of David Silva. It's turned into a "I'm right and you're wrong" debate now...so pointless to even continue.

To me it seems its not just that you constantly point out his assists ( another one today btw) and how he should be doing more whilst discounting goal involvements and things like that. Todays goals a perfect example of how flawed that argument it is today's goes down as his assist when in truth it was decent closing down and luck. Yet if he wins the ball high up which he  often does plays in say dolan who squares it to a striker  to score its not an assist but an involvement but he did more than the man getting the assist. If seen him do this on more than one occasion this season.

Watched it all. Every minute. I don't remember any passes that were brilliant...can you again inform me? Lenihans ball to Dolan in the second half was brilliant.

Tbf you have painted yourself into a corner re Buckley if you can't see a good footballer when it's staring you in the face that's your thing not everyone elses

Decent ball but let's be honest Pickering done brilliant to bury it. Done agree with the goal involvement part, just padding him out now.

He's been better as I said but is it special mention for anything now? When he is bad he is awful and non existent, when he is good he is ok.

You say decent ball but let's be fair he looks twice to see where Pickering is and picks out a pinpoint cross/pass to where he will be arriving its a fantastic assist.

At this level, goal, singular. 1 goal in 17 Championship appearances. His goal glut came the season after, in League One. Then he went to Ligue 1, but he did get loaned to the Prem with Fulham last season and notched 3 goals in 809 minutes (so about 9 full games worth, not a bad rate at a higher level).

Still young, doesn't seem a bad move on paper...my main concerns would be that back injury and, especially because of it, the probable price tag.

So it did I remembered that totally wrong I was under the impression that it came at championship level my bad.

I’d prefer Healey, he’s more of a natural goal scorer. Unfortunately prem sides are also looking at him so unfortunately the opportunity to get him may have been missed.

Thats fair enough not seen a lot of him tbh a plus for me with maja is he has scored goals at this level in a very poor Sunderland side.

I'd expect similar yes but I suspect he may go for a little more, maybe up to 18 ish. Depending on his goal tally end of season. A few reasons:

He is mostly scoring from out wide..if he ends up with an Armstrongesque tally from there it will be very impressive.

He is more of a team player and taller.

He is very marketable in Chile. With the right marketing it could probably cover his salary.

We paid up to 7 million for him, a big risk at the time, so will probably play a bit harder on negotiating and clubs will inherently understand that.

    Tiny bit of inflation.

Hopefully he will sign the new deal we have on the table or we even up the deal it would be stupid not to try and do everything to protect the investment. Tho that makes sense fir the club so probably not. Also if I was his agent I'd be saying don't sign anything.

Im not sure that Buckley would suit playing deeper in a midfield 2. His main attribute is winning the ball back higher up and he wouldnt provide the defensive protection in front of the back 4.

Also ideally we can get an upgrade on Gallagher, I think with his inability to bring others into play and link up, he wouldnt get the best out of Dack.

I suspect that Brereton may leave with Rothwell at the end of the season.

If Brereton does go at the end of the season it will be for around the same as arma given we have an option on his contract.
