Excellent ball from Dack for the goal. Cool finish by BBD. Travis doesn’t have the pace for a right back, but miles better than JRC. Center back pairing looks solid. We don’t really have a true center forward at the club. Dolan not getting it done, but not sure there an alternative

I think we need to manage expectations here. From what I've read, despite his height he is not a target man and his style doesn't lend itself to playing really direct. He is supposedly pretty good at bringing others into play, running the channels and getting in the box. Let's hope he has some goals to go with his game!

Well it has to stick with him better than it has with the void we have had up top the last few games surely

  3. I happen to think that a powerful target man in the middle is exactly what we need hopefully he will be able to hold the ball up and bring players into the game at the right end of the pitch.

Davies at forest last year and villa before that has 8 goals in around 100 games but most would have been over the moon to get him a target man can be good and useful with out being prolific

Of course. But he hasn't. More to the point, he hasn't even scored a goal at Championship level so on the face of it, the chances of that happening are exceedingly slim.

Wouldn't it be far easier to just spend £5m on someone with a track record at this level.

We are not spending 5m on him jesus If we spend 5m on him it's because he's deemed worth it there fore he will have a track record at this level

But the likes of toney were banging in 30 goals a season on more than one occasion. Plus he was their player. Leicester see hirst as surplus to requirements and are using this loan and contract thing to fleece rovers if we decide to pay it. The guy has no goals in the championship.  He's not worth a gamble at 5 million but say we paid 2 million I would have no problem with that if he worked out in his loan

We are not we are loaning him if he's not worth 5m we won't pay it

I don't understand why when we have gone European with jdt and Broughton (can't remember his name off the top of my head).  We have gone back to the old regime of buying players domestically in the English leagues.  Hyam and caulker (yes he's abroad but he's well known to the domestic game) could have been done by anyone at Rovers. Wheres the imagination of scouring Europe for hidden gems. When farke was appointed Norwich manager he unearthed gems like pukki.  This just smacks of laziness on Broughton's part. We have basically bought wholly on the domestic level instead of putting some effort into finding some unknowns that could turn out to be real gems the way Brentford have done.

It's harder to get the foreign signings in now they have to meet the wp threshold and the still have to apply for a permit with our vacuum at the top lasting so long domestic was probably seen as the way to go this window at least.

I completely agree Glen but the thing with the three that left is spilt milk. It is what it is now.

I just can't see the economic sense in refusing to give someone what they want in terms of wages then paying a fee/agent's fees and similar wages to another player who at best is no better.

I'd imagine the sense lies in the fact the players brought in will be on less a week than it would have cost us to extend the contracts of those who have left which gets us closer to the 90% mark that we have to meet while agents fees and transfer fees can be covered in the losses made by the owners we still have to be trying too hit that 90% mark.

    It’s a game of opinions isn’t it!

I’ve seen Brittain play twice for us and probably a couple of times for Barnsley. He never especially stood out against Barnsley, but has played well in his two games for us. Not exceptionally, but well.

My judgement so far - which is reserve the right to change later - is if we’re playing four at the back then Nyambe was more suited. If we’re playing a wing back then Brittain looks more suited. Nobody knows the numbers, so all of this is based on them both costing the same.

I would have been more than happy for nyambe to stay but he's been adequately replaced I hope he gets a run an does well but he's gone and been replaced.
