    6.63

Playing for a Tony pulis side they are good stats for anyone who doesn't have a long throw.

Knee jerk reaction after 12 months? That's a very slow jerk. It's almost tantric.

He was bad this season no argument there what I'm saying is there have been loads of cases where players have not lived up to price tag in first year but proved well worth the money over time.

Let the player develop to the potential many think he has and the fee which could rise to 7m will have been worth it.

Or we bin him off call him a flop and buy someone.

I know which strategy I thinks better.

Pay the wages the likes of Downing will want and there'll be precious little left for fees!

IMO, this would be another Danny Murphy and Etuhu scenario.

Think it's a horrible proposal and a retrograde step.  IMO, Mowbray can't work the market and his lack of imagination and nous shows.

Or at his advanced age his wage demands have dropped to a level where we can sign him to fill for Conway whilst using money to strength other areas

In 7 years we must have had 30 loans from Premier League clubs and about 4 who were any good. Cairney, Reed, Gallagher, Keane.

They're either hard to find or we aren't very good at picking them but the majority have been a waste of time, space and money. Either way, basing our promotion plans on it is risky. We need a better squad before adding a couple of quality loans. We will struggle to do it paying 5k a week out when WBA are paying 30k.

    Gestede was alright

True, but it's not irrelevant to the long-term future of the club. "Go for it", you say - but that's a dangerous game, and although people might look at Villa today, they were still receiving parachute payments this season (it was their last, I think), which allowed them to keep the likes of Grealish, take a punt on Terry last season, etc. We certainly can't do that now, so any comparison to Villa and "look what happens when you go for it" can't be accounted for, because they were able to afford it, whereas we simply can't.

I don't know how Derby are funding all of these old Chelsea lads, but I bet they have to get up next season, or deal with pay-offs and potential embargoes thereafter. I wonder if they are still having to consider the costs of McClaren and Bent, who ultimately got them nowhere?

Derby announced 14m profit this year as they sold the chairman the stadium.

That's fine but they got all uppity when someone watched them train.

We're in desperate need of a good keeper and a commanding CB to play alongside Lenihan (unless Sheff Utd come in with a silly offer).

Do that, and play Travis and Rothwell every game they're physically able to, and we'll be much better than last year.

We will only be much better if we get a player at least as good as Reed in that scenario.

  7. I think we could get more than Reed and Gally would cost for Dack tbh.

The only problem I see is to get the best from Dack we have to play him in behind one central striker so BB and AA have to play out wide when they play as neither are suited to playing up top alone Gallagher for all he's a big lad I don't know if his hold up play is suited to being a lone target man either so he would probably get shunted out wide as well.

That Pep clips shows everything that is wrong with VAR. It was an epic match and the whole VAR aspect ruined what would have been a massive moment for most fans. To be in pure euphoria for so many minutes which then turns to despair (or vice versa btw) after such a long wait just takes away from the moments and the events. With just a ref if its either given or not pretty much on the spot - yes they get it wrong but thats what football has been about since year dot.

People always scrutinized referee decisions and VAR is meant to do away with that by making the correct decision each time - except even VAR decisions are getting scrutinized anyway.

It was a massive moment for spurs fans tho and like it or not as the rules currently stand the goal was correctly ruled out.

This is why I have no confidence with the 'stay safe and build from there' mentality. We will loose the likes of Dack and Reed in the summer and TM dosnt have the talent to bring in replacements. We will not build, only continue to drop if the past is anything to go by

Such a good job that he inherited both of those players then eh oh wait.

  10. At what point do we stop seeing a player as a midfielder Mulgrew has played the vast chunk  of his career as a center back and plays there at international level. Lenihan was a defencive midfielder coming through our youth team but since he broke into the team has been playing at cb I'd argue that's his position now if you don't agree the Rodwell was a cb coming through Evertons youth and moved into midfield in the first team so does that make him a cb?

Bowyer preferred Chris Brown to King, (oh dear!) and when he got an occasional outing in a league game, it was usually out of position on the wing.

Talking of Chris Brown he's on a podcast and was talking about his time under Bowyer who he said was always paranoid about people watching from houses spying on training. And after a a game v Rochdale or Shrewsbury in the carabao accused Brown of giving them the team before kick off

No one committed to a £10million+ (fee and wages) for Dack at 19!!!!!!!

No matter which way you or others dress it up, I think we've signed a dud and someone has dropped one big clanger.

To be fair we will only know if a player is a dud when he leaves the club sometimes bringing a player along slowly when he's ready to play helps in the long run.

  13. Not saying we should looking to sell but you never know what could happen if we where to it could force a change in shape where we buy two actual wingers and move say a Brereton or an Armstrong up top with Graham perhaps getting the best from one of those.

If push comes to shove I'd much rather keep Bradley tho.
