It’s a fantastic story, local lads done good and more importantly they’ve not lost sight of local roots and stayed true to the town.

    I wish them well.

Ps - Can you have a word with the 3 stooges in Pune? See if you can bring the club home, back into local ownership where it belongs.

There is no divine right to local ownership. In the case of Blackburn that may be a positive thing as (Jack aside) the local mentality isn't exactly beneficial to growth.

You have some shameless nerve asking the Issas to purchase the club. You come on here and make claims about Jack Walker being mean to members of your family with insufficient explanation. You say nothing about FUP yet ask the Issas to buy something they won't even be able to spend whatever they like on. Plus all the years yourself and others insisted that "nobody would want to buy Rovers" so explain why they should after all that? As for the Walker family say no more!

As for the claims about being Man United fans. Is that 100% true as it's a vulgar accusation to make without absolute evidence. Even if it is it would be a stretch even with my level of hatred for United to discount their impact on the town. Plus if their children are Rovers fans that would suggest they take a deeper interest in football. Many United fans of course are very casual.

Perhaps if the club went into administration they would step in (not saying that would have to be 100% they could be part of local consortium, etc) even if it wasn't long term. It's clear they value the community even if pumping millions into the local football club isn't their chosen method of philanthropy. Chances are I might not even be living in the town much longer and if that's the case I won't be coming back. I would sooner warn them about Rovers fans than persuade them at this point in my life. There's no point anyone investing in football unless they feel it's the only option (to save a club they support) or ambition which is currently deemed illegal.

They can foxtrot Oscar for me.

You will probably forget about it eventually. Other clubs have fit that description in past and it's hardly ever brought up now.

Personally I'll never forget some of the things Whelan has said and done.

Exactly. It would astound me if the recommendation to give Anderson the sales brief hadn’t come from Williams, who should have known better given he’d spent a big chunk of the previous decade dealing with such snakes. Maybe JW thought he could manage him but was subsequently comprehensively out-manoeuvred.

Called Kean a true professional as well. Many journalists considered Agnew one of the worst PR men in the league. The club had the mentality of "oh well let's just speak to the Lancashire Telegraph it's all Rovers fans read and we can easily control Nield (and Cryer for a couple of years)".

The trustees were already tied up in legal action with other grasping scum who deeply resented Jack's backing of Rovers. They did a lazy enough job of selling the club why make more work for themselves? ?

Maybe there still is a NDA. Perhaps the 20th anniversary of Jack's death would be a good time to break it. Could be a notable date for other reasons too aside from obvious.

On Duff, we originally put in a £17m release clause into his contract presumably thinking that would scare off any interest but Abramovich came along and changed all that.

The day the Trustees accepted the bid from Chelsea and didn't even attempt to improve Duff's terms or persuade him to stay was for me the day Jack's dream died.  Hardly surprising with hindsight given their subsequent conduct but I think it's more accurate to say they wanted the money rather than needed it.

Probably Souness wanted some of it as well to **** away against the wall.

The club certainly gave the impression they wanted him to stay. Now Duff admits he was pressured into accepting. Yet more lies then from the trustees (and club officials) under influence of you know who.

  5. I've been to the arena but not to any hockey games. Taken there when I was about 4 years old (probably because it had just opened) and a few more times in late 90's. Ice skating isn't a natural talent.

Read up on arena some time back. They don't seem to host much other than ice skating. There was a WWE event held in the 90's and another wrestling show was scheduled couple years back but promotion shut down. Also the band Status Quo also in the 90's played there.

Hawks don't play at the highest level of hockey now. In 95-96 they did. 1000 away supporters at Manchester Arena in 1995 for the first British top flight televised hockey clash on Sky. Looks like Blackburn arena packed against same opposition in 1996 too.

Name was changed to Lancashire Hawks for one season in 97-98 when they were owned by Thenodrog. ?

Yes Boro are a good case but it's what their owner want to bring in young players more and more. And spend less on wages and fees over a period of time. He did the same thing when Strachan spend millions after millions and didnt get promote. Then he cut the budget under Mowbray.

Their owner appointed Woodgate and I was told he was getting the job before the end of last season.

Yeah and you said Woodgate should be given time. Look how that's worked out. Who'd have thought a guy who smashed a glass over his head wouldn't be a rousing success.

Coyle was poison and useless, Mowbray is neither of those things.

Howe isn't an option as you quite rightly point out, so give us a couple of names, plenty out there by your own admission?

Poison would be harsh to describe Mowbray Magoo. More like a stimulant that clouds people's brains. Either to the extent they are too numb to see his faults or numb to his management skills.

Why do you think we are about to shake the squad up? With what money? And how can you trust the man that has left us needing so much work doing on an imbalanced squad considering the poor business done since promotion?

And why do you think we are a normal club? With owners interested enough to be in regular communication and making plans regarding budgets etc. Or being logical enough to not make the manager wait to fly over to India and use a video call instead?

Since they haven't had any choice but to resort to video/phone calls recently maybe they will realise it's quite sufficient.

I didn’t really know where to put this but there is a strong rumour going round Glasgow that Graeme Souness is to be announced in some sort of capacity at Rangers tomorrow. Some people think it is as director of football but I have also heard he will be chairman!?

That's been rumoured for some time. Big news at Rangers lately has been season ticket renewals and a deal with Castore who are major new players on the sportswear front.

What a fix La Liga is absolutely embarrassing the lengths that the officials are going to, to ensure that Real Madrid win the title. And it is so brazen as well they aren't even trying to hide it.

One of the major members within the corrupt UEFA cartel. Bayern, Man United, Juventus, Liverpool, etc. Real, Barcelona and Juventus have always been leading clubs (United, Liverpool and even Bayern not so much) in their respective countries so what are they so afraid of?

I'm not sure what you are getting at here.

Yes Blackburn is a town. What relevance is that to the aims, ambitions and prospects of Blackburn Rovers?

Would the granting of city status suddenly transform our club and improve its prospects?

Were Sunderland and Wolves small clubs and then suddenly became big clubs when they got City status? Are Preston in a higher category to us now? Are Leyton Orient or Salford bigger than us because they are based in big cities rather than a town?

Its all meaningless. Suits those upstairs at Ewood Park to feed it to the fans though.

Stop mentioning that! Small town JH! SMALL TOWN!

You are kidding yourself if you honestly think Jokanovic is going to walk out on multi Million pounds contract for a club in East Lancashire. How much do you think Venkys pay Mowbray per season? I bet around 600k plus bonuses

Yes the club is great to us but Jokanovic could have come here after Bowyer was sacked and he didnt then.

Lancashire. I bet Leeds fans don't refer to themselves as "a club in West Yorkshire".

Hell would freeze over before anybody took advice from you on how to support a football club, Vinjay!

More fool them. To use an apt analogy if you're growing a field of red roses and some of them are diseased what do you do? You prune them. That would sum up those who attacked others for abusing Kean. You could say it sums up the ones who defended the Walker family.

Surely you go to support the club

...and sheep expect to be shepherded. Sometimes the only way of showing support is to voice disapproval over the direction things are taking. That's what I did (largely because of the man who's support transformed the club but it's coming up to 20 years and I've had just about enough of posting here) but you run the risk of becoming broken beyond repair. Like me though that would be an extreme case. For those who want Mowbray gone there's plenty of people who share your view. If most of the fans share your views or stick to certain principles (Rovers fans shift their views at a whim and lack principle) then I think it's worth supporting. Then again most of the fans wanted Kean gone and still got hounded by thick scum who drove them away.

I agree that Mowbray looks like he's out of ideas and energy too. I think he would walk away if paid off, maybe for less than the full term of his contract

Also for Venkys it's a pretty bad situation. They're losing money hand over fist, just invested £12m in near worthless players, and probably their only real concern is to reduce their year on year losses. But realistically to avoid future even more severe losses they need to invest more money in the hope we get promoted. It's a toxic cycle..

At some point which cannot really be that far away they are going to say fuck this and then it will really kick off. I think all fans should mentally prepare themselves for when we go bankrupt.

Arguably the best thing for the club would be to wind the wage bill down further to a level supportable by the club's income and take our chances on unknown talent and the youth team. Not the most glamorous future but it will keep us alive when Venkys fuck off.

Marketable talent with big personality but sod any youth who just want a "stepping stone". Sod the academy it wouldn't be impossible to have a first team at this level without them and you could only sign players on bosman. Marketing wise that could be a plus if you only sign players on lengthy contracts (mostly 28 year olds on a 2 year cycle) and no release clauses. Only hire managers over 65 (who will likely have extensive network of contacts) so there's less chance of them leaving. Give them 5 year contracts and replace them at the end of that term. Danny Graham hasn't worked out so bad has he? Only reason Tiugay and Friedel were not sold was because of their age. You could say "well what if they hired a manager like Kean". Well make sure they aren't complete assholes and if it goes a bit stale then it goes a bit stale.

Still need (better) owners who would invest just enough to be competitive at Championship level. Why should anyone try to break the bank on FUP especially when people aren't even incensed by it. Is that taking a risk of being a "yo yo" club between Championship and L1? Yeah maybe it is but your way isn't any better. If Bilbao can get by only signing basque players and Union Berlin reached the Bundesliga (for years they wouldn't even pay transfer fees though that's been relaxed) what's impossible if you try hard enough? If you get into EPL and people feel the squad isn't good enough due to such signing policies replace all of them. That might be seen as unconventional but so what? Telling owners how much they can spend is unconventional and if people submissively accept that then why couldn't they accept this? You can have a future if you dare to be different. I would rather have players like Graham than players like Dack who are constantly linked with moves away. OK maybe Graham does not have an "outrageous personality" but if you allow players freedom at the very least they might not come across as corporate puppets. Not that I think Graham comes across that way anyhow.

If there was ever a time to be unconventional and creative it's now. An attitude where the club says "we refuse to be used as a stepping stone". Is that really so bad? The club is being "held back" by refusing to listen to me just like many posters on here. If you take risks on signing policies and it works you might attract more fans who are attracted to a club that "does things it's own way". Every single one of you should copy/paste this (perhaps without the bit about Venkys as people at the club can't do anything about them besides encourage) and send it to the club perhaps via Lynsey Talbot. Then post a screenshot (black out name if you want) to prove it. That's what you should all be doing but you won't.

  15. I haven't seen the game but it says that Leeds has 60% possession. That suggests being technically outclassed. Leeds and WBA are technically superior to most from what I've seen of them. I'm sure I recall Rowett admitting as such when Millwall lost to both of them. People can accept honesty whereas consensus here seems to be Mowbray is talking rubbish. Rovers and Fulham had a technical gulf over rest of the division back in 2000/01.

Keane is a borderline sociopath. He might knock a few heads together but we need more than that.

I've said this club (and many others) could use edgier marketing and appointing a psychotic thug isn't exactly poles apart from that. I don't see how you could use the tired "family club blueprint" and have someone like that as the face of the club at same time. OK Rovers tried to sign him years ago (even with bitter jealousy about "buying success" Rovers were never portrayed as a vile club under Jack's ownership whereas even most biased media could hardly deny United's arrogance and Ferguson's vile temper) but he was mellower at Forest in comparison to Man United where he gradually became one of the most hated players in the country and rightly so.

He might kick Ferguson out though ?

Sounds like there's a chance that the Hong Kong bloke who recently passed the EFL fit and proper test to take over Wigan might not even exist!

Well at least it wasn't something with mega wealth and a lot of ambition. ?

  18. One thing people overlook though is that Revie died of a horrible disease and the FA still snubbed him. Then they try to shove blatant Man United favortism down their throats. Jack Walker didn't get a mandated minutes silence at other grounds. Busby was no saint either (though nowhere near the lowlife Ferguson is) look at how some of the plane crash survivors were treated shabbily by the club.

I bet when Ferguson dies they will force clubs to adhere to tributes but you won't hear Rovers fans chanting Jack Walker's name in protest. Rather be brainwashed that Man United's heroes should be treated with a reverence denied to others.

This article sums up their thinking and I agree with a lot of it. Very few on here would be so visceral and passionate in Jack Walker's honour.

Hate Leeds with a passion. No one had ever heard of them until the mid 60s and up until then, they hadn’t won a bean. For a city of 700k they have, in the main, greatly under achieved. Teams like Rovers, Bolton and Huddersfield easily eclipse them on the record attendance front and in their support, they have hordes of knuckle dragging neanderthals, intent on hooliganism. I can’t think of anything good to say about them. Wan*ers.

Indeed they were nothing until the 60's but Don Revie is...well...revered. Maybe he was a crook (not that it stopped the FA making him England manager so their grudge was obviously down to his departure for UAE job) but their respect for him goes way beyond anything Jack Walker receives here in my opinion. The mentality Revie built the club around to a certain extent exists to this day. If Revie had "think BIG" as his motto there would be banners and flags all over the place. Not sugercoating them (ignoring for instance that Revie's own wife said he would have hated the Busby incident) but there are some things other clubs could learn from them on a mentality standpoint.
