  11. I don’t think it’s Plessy. There are too many houses at the top of the hill for there. They did have a net on a long pole for retrieving the ball from the river, obviously out of reach on this occasion. Although it does seem a little contrived that there just happened to be a photographer on hand to snap Ally taking a dip.
  12. It’s a wonder Noddy didn’t get a dose of Weils disease after wading in the rat infested River Darren.
  13. We have a Test series in India to contest before we go Down Under. After their heroics today, India will be on a massive high and England will need to show the same grit and determination to come anywhere near the standard India have attained this Test series. I would like to think we can compete in certain areas of the game, but as someone has already stated, we need to decide who our opening pair are going to be. Also, as good a keeper Buttler is, I think he should be used as a batsman only. Who would then takes the gloves is open to discussion.

  23. I would hazard a guess that the bus was hired out for the day by a local church, youth club or school for their annual event. The background doesn’t lend itself to the usual route of the Darwen bus, but I have no idea where it is. The Mission I attended growing up used to hire out two Blackburn buses for the annual Summer outing to Lytham which we looked forward to. There were lots of games for the young kids, football, rounders and races for the older ones. The ladies were tasked with providing the buffet. It’s unlikely that sort of simple entertainment would occur today, but it’s what held communities together and for some was the nearest they got to a holiday.
