  1. The Hollies - Just One Look
  2. I first started going to the Locarno as it was called then around 1966/7. When Mecca decided to upgrade the venue they held a competition for people to rename it. I can’t remember what the prize was for the winner(anyone out there know it?), but I had a go wanting it to be called “Topaz”. I was gutted when I didn’t win. The Golden Palms opened in June 1969.
  3. The Chimes - I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For
  4. Amen Corner - Bend Me, Shape Me
  5. Always a pre-match visit with my son to the paper shop across from Ewood for a quarter of Midget Gems(Lion, of course) and a quarter of blackcurrant and liquorice. All gone by half time.
  6. The Hollies - Look Through Any Window
  7. Iron Maiden - Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter
  8. Lee Dorsey - Working In A Coal Mine
  9. The guy front centre in the light top doesn’t look to be very busy. I hope he’s not on piece work. As the saying in my line of work goes “If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean”.
  10. Sam And Dave - Small Portion Of Your Love
  11. Donovan - Universal Soldier
  12. Monday night Soul Club In The 60’s. I just loved the music and, hopefully, a few dances too. A friend of mine met his future wife there on one of our forays on the dance floor.
  13. We used to go in the old Yates’s for a couple of Docks of white wine with green chartreuse chasers !! Yes, I know, it’s a wonder I’m not blind. Then it was off to the more up market pubs on the Coast. Happy days.
  14. I do it all the time Windy. Like you say, it’s great listening to new sounds and reminiscing of songs that bring back memories of the good old days. The Patti Smith Group - Because The Night
  15. Sam And Dave - You Don’t Know Like I Know Mecca memory
  16. The Shangri-Las - Remember (Walking In The Sand)
  17. Todd Rundgren - I Saw The Light
  18. I was there also with my girlfriend at the time. In the upper tier, right of stage as close as you could get. An absolutely awesome concert, Bowie at the most creative period of his career in my opinion. Probably the best gig I have ever attended and that includes The Stones and Springsteen.
  19. Yes, a good win In difficult conditions. Also, encouraging to see Sibley hit a half century after some poor displays in the previous innings and 1st Test. Crawley still struggling, not sure he will feature in India. Looking forward to the India Test series now with the England team in buoyant mood after this Series win.
  20. Redbone - The Witch Queen Of New Orleans
  21. The Tymes - You Little Trustmaker
  22. It’s not the picture, it’s just us who are slow.
  23. The Teddy Bears - To Know Him Is To Love Him
  24. Sorry, I was oblivious to what was going on. Anyway, like you say, no damage done. And no, you’re not a muppet. Snap- Rhythm Is A Dancer
  25. I was on the Riverside that afternoon, more towards the Blackburn End. As I mentioned in a previous post, when the Four Pennies were in the charts everyone at school was suddenly related to one of them. I was no exception, trying to impress a girl I fancied. It didn’t work.
