  1. I think a lot of it comes from the fact he is an Aussie as well,

RUBBISH. (well apart from Jim, but does anybody take him seriously ??)

I'm really not that arsed if he signed a new deal or not, but the positive factor I look at is that he could easily have moved on to better terms elsewhere, but he chose to remain part of all the good work Mark Hughes team are putting in.

  2. Sky own the rights to English premier league football within England. Foreign channels also have rights to the matches but only have the right to show them in their own country. So therefore the likes of Al-Jazeera can’t show live games here, by law. As for selling rights to pubs, that’s what sky do. Whatever games they haven’t got selected therefore shouldn’t be on in local pubs.

    AFAIK

The only law on this is that live football cannot be shown between 1430 and 1715 on saturdays with a full match programme. Hence why SKY dont show anything.

The copyright issues of beaming back live football from Europe into the UK appear to be a civil matter.

  3. Excellent news.. Vinjay will be crying into his lunch now

You should congratulate Williams at your next BRISA meeting whenever that

is. What a waste of money for those supporters who bought their memberships.

    Con merchants.

Conggratulate him for what? Well not for the fact he's sold another star

player and has let players run down to the last year of their contracts.

Their's an article some years back sayying the club's policy was to sign

players to long term contracts not let them run down. Another thing that's

    changed at this club.

So congratulate Williams for the "achivement" of taking the crown from Ellis

for worst chairman in this league. God I hope it's this club saved next.

  4. "Acuna faded badly after a promising start and his lack of speed may ultimately count against him when Hughes decides whether to offer him a contract or not." Citizen

What were everyone's thoughts on him in the game?

Had a few good touches and put a lot of effort in getting the ball back. Problem was it was because he kept giving it away, he is no Tugay. I would doubt if has done enough in that game to be seen again, but all depends on what he has been showing in training and perhaps if he plays today.

Paul as in the Paul off this message board ?? I never knew that ;)

No - Paul McCarthy, latterly of the Beatles. :)

Ah rite.. I heard his wife was after coming to the UEFA games, but cant make both legs.

  6. Could somone please mock that up in letters nine feet high and put it on the wall of John Williams' office! :)

He might have to move that Dartboard with your picture on it in that case. ;)

Perhaps Rovers should also be given some credit where its due for a change.

I renewed my season ticket at LAST YEARS prices because of the early bird scheme, and have spread the cost of the ticket over 10 months. That means I don't have to spend 72 quid in a week to get to the first two home games.

  7. taken from a Sheff U site about the trouble in Rotterdam at the weekend

Then we heard about the troubles outside. It seems that 200 Feyenoord idiots ( I won't call them supporters) had stormed the Sparta supporters club within the stadium. They attacked both Blades and Sparta fans. I've read Sparta forums today and many Sparta fans were disgusted with the Feyenoord thugs. It seems they also attacked 2 Blades fans who were sat outside a cafe having a drink and stabbed at least one of them. I cannot tell you how angry I am with these scum! They had nothing to do with the game, they had no need to be there, and they ruined what had been a perfectly wonderful atmosphere!

Consequently, all the Blades fans were herded onto buses and bussed to whichever town in the area that we wanted to go to.We had to go back to the Hague and we were escorted the whole way by riot vans in front and behind us and 6 ME(armed riot police)inside the bus. Now I'm sure this may have been quite scary for some children there, but it was quite impressive by the Dutch Police that they put our safety first before any financial costs and made sure we got out of the city safe and sound.Even when we got to the Hague there were another 3 riot vans full of police waiting for us and 4 Motorcycle cops, 2 mounted police and 5 police cars. Just to make sure that we weren't going to be ambushed as soon as they let us off the bus. All amazing and surreal stuff!

  8. the other, a drunk who will most likely have forgotten what he told him or probably spoke to the wrong player.

    :D

To be fair, he had been drinking heavily. Not as heavily as JPW though who managed to a) Leave the BRFCS flag on platform 9 at Koln station and B) Scuff a penalty miles wide causing the entire Aachen team to laugh a lot.

Jay Roberts looks to be a good signing

  9. I blame SteB, they sat in the home end.

    STOOD actually ;)

There were a few fans sat in the main stand behind the Rovers team, including Sergio Peters mum. I'll upload a few pics tomorrow.

Apparently Neill told Orvil that he would "hopefully" sign a new contract. Emerton wasnt involved at all, neither was Andy Todd.
