He runs the club here in his title of CHIEF EXECUTIVE and you are doing the assuming that these decisions are being made or not made 3000 miles away.

In his role as CHIEF EXECUTIVE of Blackburn Rovers football club it is his job to ensure these things don't happen whether that is by insisting the owners sanction contract talks well in advance of deals beginning to run out or even if he has to do it off his own bat. As CEO he has the legal right to do such things because that is his job unless it's contractually specified that it isn't.

The buck stops with him and after so much financial damage has been inflicted by letting so many walk for nothing, one who cost 6 million, then if he was prevented from doing anything about it he should have tendered his notice.

Don't forget we also had a manager and his assistant basically publically advising these lads to walk several months before most did. Where was the CEO then ?

As far as the info we have it all came about because he low balled some of them then used covid as the reason to them totally stop contract talks.  Then he said the initial offers remained on the table and it was seemingly a case of sign them or don't but that's it.

Only towards the end did they then panic and start claiming they were pushing the offers to the hilt in some cases.

    Clowns.

I am afraid that just because he is called Chief Executive doesn't mean that in our case that he has the powers that would usually be associated with that title. Judging from the speed with which Venkys dispensed with the services of John Williams I don't believe anybody at Ewood Park is ever going to be in a position to stop Venkys making daft decisions.

Buy high and let go for nothing isn't the model Brentford started with yet we can see an example of our stupidity just landed in the Prem at Sheff U.

Imagine if he does well and Villarreal get a fee for him !

Waggot and/or the shadow idiot should have been sacked for that alone never mind the others who walked for nothing. That is half the reason we are where we are now. How can you pay people to boost income and grow players to sell when they end up doing the exact opposite !!!

Brentford model my arse it will always be the Venky Model here AKA the penny wise pound foolish dud model that is designed to lose them money.

That's why they are being investigated.

You are assuming that the players who walked for nothing did so because of decisions taken by those at Ewood Park rather than back in India - I don't see justification for firing Waggott over decisions taken by Venkys.

Did the Sunderland board Harbour "a weird hatred" towards him as well then or did they recognise like most of us on here did he wasn't the person to take their Club forward?

Ditto the Coventry board and whichever Club he left in the lower Leagues before being rescued off the managerial scrapheap to join us.

Judging from the Sunderland board's recent behaviour decking out part of their ground in Newcastle colours I am not sure that the individual who owns the club is necessarily the best judge of what is best for them.

Same way every other club gets them.

Put the place up for sale.

I think the poster to whom I addressed the question was suggesting that there was a way that fans could get the owners to put the club up for sale. I can't see how myself so was asking him for his reasoning.

I'm flabbergasted at some of the things I'm reading, and head is spinning around.

    Some questions

    1. People trying to contact the owners,  hoping that over a biscuit it may happen.  Why has only one person actually contacted me for their numbers and introduction and not any of the people who seek this?

    2. Why are people helping to paper over the cracks,  when the best solution is the removal of the board and new owners?

    3. When did we become so helpless and soft centered?

It's either ramp up the pressure for the removal , or continue down the spiral.

    When is enough really enough?

We are going backwards here, from a club who we had on the ropes to now a club where to the outside world couldn't be any rosier

What is your suggestion to how the new owners are obtained ?

Rooney did a decent job under extraneous circumstances at Derby. His stint at DC United was unremarkable so other than the fact that he is Wayne Rooney - a once wonderful player - why did Birmingham hire him?

If Lampard and Zola are in the frame it seems like Tom Brady and his mates are falling for the celebrity line again. Both are failures in management. I'm all for them getting the job though as it will benefit Rovers.

Was it Brian Clough who had a blank chapter in his book titled "what the average chairman knows about football."

I think that was Len Shackleton's book.

Any ambitious club at our level or higher would have Tomasson on their wish list.

I would not be surprised if there were murmurings of Sunderland being interested.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph there was an argument between Mowbray and the Sunderland board after he told them that they would not be able to challenge for promotion to the Premier League unless they signed more experienced players rather than the younger players that the board favoured who could be part of a "development " programme to be sold on for profit.

Given that that sounds very similar to the situation at Ewood Park which reputedly is disliked by JDT that would appear to rule him out.

Being saying it for ages, we need 2 or 3 real scumbags in our team who can look after our 'kids' and kick the feck out of the opposition if need be.

Feck the purists and the dreamers (get off fantasy island and wake up and smell the coffee), you also need physicality and aggression to go with the skill, to get out of this league.

A feckin sickener today.  Rovers are like one big tease where the big moment never arrives.

But before the game you kept saying how confident you were that our team would win ! Why do you wait until after the game to "wake up and smell the coffee " ?

They got away with murder today. Pulling, pushing wasting time. We need to show more balls and a stomach for the fight. This game was tailor-made for Garrett. High on confidence, fresh and likes to put himself about. As for Moran, weak as piss. The only benefit to this deal is for himself and BHA.

Moran has got comfortably more assists for us this season than any other player.

Our of the woodwork comes MP. Mowbray wasted a fortune here, if Tomasson had been given a fraction of what Mowbray got we would have been comfortably above them. However if you are comparing Mowbrays staid, bland management style to Tomassons you need your bumps feeling.

I haven't come out of any woodwork - revealing that you have to resort to personal insults. What I did was quote the facts. I like JDT but the idea that he is way better than Mowbray at Championship level is still to be proven at this stage.

  11. If only Venables had been content to just concentrate on football - the England job was made for him. Unfortunately he got in way out of his depth in business and had to be relieved of the job. Arguably the greatest ever English coach - but sadly also the greatest ever nearly man in English football.

Actually, no that's not right. Profit on intangible assets is profits on sale of players - in this case mainly Adam Armstrong. The profit on the sale of the training ground was booked in the club's accounts in 2021 - the accruals principle in accounting means you don't have to receive the cash to book the profit provided that the auditors are satisfied that the money will be paid.
