It's early season and we are bedding in more youth so i'd expect an equally tough game.
We aren't totally different at all the same basics were there last week in the first half and some would argue we are weaker up top at present than we were then.
Hopefully we get a grip early and on the set pieces and don't turn into wet wipes again if we go behind.
The team is much better balanced this season abd I would say better in quality too

Last season we had teething problems into a new system, we can’t be traumatised by this fixture cause of last season, as mentioned above the line up was poor, we are a much better and fitter team, we will use the pitch well and make it as big as possible cause like millwall you have to pass these teams off the park. Last season we got dicked by bang average Preston at home, dicked by reading but again like said above we caught teams at the wrong time cause of how we was at our worst and how good they was doing in some cases, even the dingle away game they caught us at our worst and jdt still not knowing his best team yet, all different now
Pears
Jrc. Carter hyam Pickering
Travis. Tronstad szmodics
Markanday leanord Dolan
subs: Leo, Wharton, batty, brittain, Wharton, Buckley, hedges, ennis, Gallagher

They'll press, they'll hump it forwards and they'll hit us with as many set pieces as they can win.
Everything we didn't like or cope with last season so lets see if we can get to grips with it this time.
Surely it can't be as bad as last season !
Millers 2 Rovers 2
We are a completely different side to then, only reason dingles and Preston smashed us cause we was still teething into the new system

If we play like this at Rotherham on Saturday God help us.
Behave ffs is a full changed 11, Barnes and Wharton being injured most of last season, other kids who have done well, Buckley back from injury. It’s like a friendly so drop the negativity

Don't forget the 7-0 pasting at home to Fulham that he also didn't give a fuck about.
What a dick head that bloke is.
Yet people worshiped and still do, I called him out long before

Looking forward to it as the manager is taking it seriously, and he's giving players a chance to impress him. JDT is very much like Hughes, imo, in terms of mindset.
I doubt there will be any complacency. Seeing us lose against the likes of Morecambe, Shrewsbury, Scunthorpe in the recent past was bad enough. What made it worse was the 'oh well' kind of vibe afterwards.
JDT doesn't seem to have that mentality and won't stand for it.
Hopefully, a win tomorrow and another favourable draw in the next round.
Totally agree, 21/22 was terrible losing to morecambe in the league cup first round and Wigan in the fa cup and Mowbray not giving two shits

Hilton
brattain Wharton Barnes batty
Wharton Buckley
Hedges Gilsenan Dolan
Leanord
some minutes in the legs for some plus hedges and Dolan in need of a boost to get some form as they have been the worst performers plus leanord needs to stay on form so a goal or 3 would do him good

Least I can get Stockport ticked off now, girona are a good side too remember beijg impressed with them last time in 2016

I remember playing Chievo in a friendly as I was an official on the game. Tom Finn came in to see us after the match and said that Rovers would make a loss on the game. From memory there were only around 5000 in attendance and Tom said once all the expenses were deducted and the fee paid to Chievo that Rovers would have been out of pocket. I recall him saying something along the lines of not having a foreign team for a friendly again. I wonder if Waggott has factored the fee Bologna would presumably take into account.
We played espanyol, New Zealand, Breda etc since

Deffo another cockup by Rovers. They could have arranged a nice little preseason trip for fans to enjoy in lovely Bologna but instead we’re off to the delights of Barnsley. This lot can’t get anything right can they? Deffo
It’s not as easy at that maybe they don’t wanna host a championship team ? Also it’s not s out a holiday for the fans.. it’s about preparation and we want a decent home friendly

shame Fleetwood game is on Friday night and not a Saturday. Will be unable to attend tho.
I would expect the same on 28th and 29th July judging by Rich Sharpe's comments on twitter
I like the idea of back to back days, I suppose he’s gonna split the squad into two, I used to like it when we played two teams at one ground, we played Stanley and Morecambe one year then Stanley and fleetwood then a mini tournament at morecambe against them and bury

Just seen an advert for the Premier league summer series here in the US. Tickets starting at 45 up in the gods and some even cost several hundred. That's a lot of money in a huge American football stadium! Divided by 4 teams as its a double-header. 9 matches in total for 6 teams. Guessing we won't be as adventurous this summer.
Personally I would much prefer watching Rovers vs Accy/Wigan with a pie in one hand a cup of bovril in the other for a tenner.
Right on, one thing is I love about pre season is local matches in good weather or even games over in Scotland, did Kilmarnock, hibs and rangers but Celtic I couldn’t due to my ex employers being pricks not letting me off despite notice

So they could be one of the pre-season friendlies.
Yes but the article was from today and it states depending on relegation and promotion

Everton, Blackpool
Blackpool already confirmed down

Reading between the lines on todays lancs telegraph article which involves pre season.. it’s stated some of rovers pre season games lined up depends on weather we are in the same league from relegation or promotion , so reading between those lines it looks like Leeds or wolves and Bolton

I would be keep Phillips, Garrett and Leonard here for next season. I would loan Jack Vale out next season to league 1 club.
Nah vale is far from good enough and is at an age now, he’s more suited to l1 at best

Exactly but I sure we could get a Wolves or maybe Leeds here. Or even Celtic or Dutch or Belgium team.
Maybe Rovers should use the Stanley connection where we could send our good up and coming players to play first team football.
I hope we play Blackpool and Morecambe in pre season. Good local games I would be able to go to.
Yeah always said we should look to send players on loan there but at the same time they need to suit those players, we want our lads playing good football but wouldn’t be so bad for leanord to go to l2 and toughen up plus get a taste for goals in the big boy leagues, Phillips and garret we should be looking at a top half l1 club

who after a glamour tie? Most PL clubs will be in USA or far east in pre season which makes any glamour tie impossible
Yeap! Gone are the days of big clubs visiting lower league local sides, thing is they are gonna get a better test than flying to the other end of the world to to play the same teams they play in Europe or the prem or even some shite mls team, then they have the audacity to complain in winter that they need a break, they use pre season as a money maker which is loose change anyway than what’s it’s really about, not to mention the boost it will give lower league clubs in gate receipts, plus a lower league club getting a positive result will be a big confidence booster for them. Imagine we get city down at ewood ? Haaland alone woukd attract the extra fans especially kids who look up to him. Last time we had a big home pre season game was when we got Liverpool down and it was a fantastic atmosphere too
-
Season wrapped up means in the next few weeks the pre season schedule should be coming to light.
anyone heard of anything so far ? As expected I believe they will be heading to Spain or something on a weeks training camp, would like to see us play accy Stanley again, matches against Stockport and salfird would be good tests, hopefully a trip to Scotland again too

Complete changes again, like against Walsall should be more than enough to get the job done, thin squad so we need to get many starters rested for a difficult game at Plymouth as possible, hopefully do the job tonight get a big draw for next round then do a job at Plymouth to take us pretty into the international break to regroup and rest up hopefully with a couple new recruits
