  1. Unless he’s being told to by the manager, I don’t see what could possess Pears to earn a booking through time wasting in the first half.
  2. Ohashi looking really bright. Still getting up to speed with the more intricate stuff and I’d like to see us trying to play him through more often, but encouraging performance and is first choice striker, for me. Cantwell not at the same level today as he has been recently. Looks too eager to get a goal when he has the opportunity, needs a bit of composure. We still don’t look solid at the back. All defending feels desperate. Surprised they’re not targeting Pickering more.
  3. Placed a cross on Gueye’s forehead about a yard out, a lot of through balls to direct chances and constantly retaining the ball against the odds approaching their defensive third. He’s head, shoulders, waist and heels above the rest of the squad. Effort was unexpectedly high, the way he’s been pitched to me by Norwich fans was as a mard arse but nothing approaching that tonight.
  4. I need to lay down some context here. I’m 35, my cardiovascular fitness is “poor” and my VO2 max is “below average.” I’m 5’7” on a good day. I absolutely bury that header. The header missed by 6’4” Makhtar Gueye? I bury that.
  5. Yes. What we need is a lot of stepovers.
  6. There’s a huge technical gulf across the team, which a really good system can mask. I actually see it tonight as playing 4-4-2 out of possession and 3-4-3 with the ball and I don’t hate it. It is something that needs a lot of work clearly, but I don’t hate it for us at home against the likes of Stoke
  7. Can you believe that Dolan was expecting to be in the 10 ahead of Cantwell? I get the notion of “earning the shirt” but Dolan will be seeing himself and Cantwell in training every day.
  8. Looks like we don’t have the answer to anything we’ve been asked today. Bullied off the ball all the time, horrendous end product, can’t live with Kieffer Moore. Brittain managed to crash through the floor of the very limited expectation I had of his introduction. Stinks of mid table, maybe we shouldn’t grumble at that, but any earlier optimism is dimming and the team look ragged. Manager has to do something to combat that trend.
  9. Can’t complain with the result, but Cantwell aside, we look toothless. Early-season dynamism is missing, need a bit of rejuvenation.
  10. Callum Brittain and Siggy have can’t get in the side and have come on with about fifteen left to stake a claim, can’t be arsed pressing or supporting. Weimann’s knees are held together with sticky tape and he’s trying to make summat happen. Headscratcher, what do these lads do all week?
  11. Pears is a fucking liability, Jesus Christ he can’t continue like this
  12. Dolan a lot better this half. Does well when he can find space out wide and with a lot of attention/play happening on and through Cantwell, he’s been able to.
  13. Also - who is Weimann kidding with that hair dye?
  14. Good spell here, got to capitalise
  15. Yeah, bang on. Cantwell’s best work will be done in the middle. Either shunt Dolan out wide or switch him out. He can’t deliver consistently.
  16. That looks a bad one for Carter.
  17. We’re poor at playing out from the back, neither CB or GK like it. Cantwell’s a clear level above his teammates, they just don’t have the same quality.
  18. Looking more up to speed and with better players around him he might have nabbed an assist today.
  19. That looked a naughty tackle from Brittain, to me…
  20. Looking extremely lazy all of a sudden. Subs have weirdly taken a lot of life out of us.
  21. Lead-up to the goal there was a lot of threat, we scored, Swansea have woken up, we’re weathering that a bit and playing on the break. Lack of quality in the final ball, unfortunately, but I think this is just how football works now for sides like us. Back and forth a bit until someone provides a bit of quality or gets a bit of luck.
  22. Think we’ve looked alright, Swansea are just applying a bit of pressure and physicality/woken up. Good game of championship football, really!
  23. Owen Beck has got it all. It’ll take something to unseat Andy Robertson, but Beck can play at a full level higher than this, no problem
  24. Still think it’s not a relegation squad, but this was a very poor performance in the main and it’s concerning that so many out in that bad of a performance. A point would have flattered us. Players looked tired, but I’m not sure how they can be. ACD looked good, JRC is a valuable player when he’s on it, Pickering’s days with us should be numbered, as should Hyam’s. Sympathies with Carter who is not a natural, modern full back but struggled manfully, which can’t be said for a lot of the players today. Lots of work to do to recover, luckily there’s another meaningless international break to do so.
  25. Don’t think we deserve to be behind, but it was a poor goal to concede and especially so after the couple of decent chances we hadn’t put away earlier. Letting them in has got their tails up and they’re in good form, but Whittaker aside (proper player that he is) I don’t think Plymouth have got anything we should be particularly scared of. As it is, they’re being allowed to play their chosen style and we don’t have much of a response. Mentality issue rearing its head early this season? Let’s hope it’s only a blip.
