  1. It’s hardly ‘diabolical’ in a team that creates very little. And it’s better than everyone else except Yuki.
  2. Good post. Totally different approach to the game, but both good managers in their own right. I thought some of the football under JDT was the best I’ve ever seen from a purely technical point of view whilst watching Rovers. He is clearly a very gifted coach. Eustace is more a clean sheet merchant who accumulates points along the way. I make it 10 or 11 clean sheets from the last 20 league games. Very impressive. Going forward we’re like a pub team at times in comparison to JDTs brand of football, but maybe that will change as he gets better players in forward positions. Let’s hope Eustace gets more support from the clowns above him than JDT ever did.
  3. Another clean sheet (4 in a row at home?) and a decent point. It isn’t pretty at times, but to be 6th with 19pts after 11 games is a terrific effort.
  4. Vale’s currently injured.
  5. We might lose, but our skin will be glowing.
  6. We’ve got a good home record against over the last 25 years. Only lost 1. I’ll go for a cagey 1-1 draw
  7. Playing centrally doesn’t guarantee more ‘influence’ and it certainly doesn’t mean Cantwell would be better than Dolan there. Dolan can play with his back to goal, is excellent in tight spaces, and can spin off and run in behind. Cantwell is better facing the oppositions goal with the ball at his feet so he can create. He gets a lot of the ball on the left because that is where the space is. Playing centrally means playing in more congested areas. And maybe Cantwell wants to play on the left.
  8. Or Eustace sees Cantwell as more effective out wide because he’s harder to pick up when drifting inside (as per the tactic we’ve discussed numerous times) I’d imagine it has absolutely nothing to do with ‘accommodating’ Dolan centrally.
  9. I think we’d all like a bit of Suki at home.
  10. Both of whom have been ineffective there.
  11. And who’s playing on the left?
  12. Who’s replacing him in the team? 2 goals and 2 assists this season means he’s more effective than everyone else in our forward line except Yuki.
  13. If we were playing the most agricultural hoofball but were in the top 6 all season, crowds would gradually increase. It’s been that way since football began. Rovers are no different. Waggott would have to open the top tier of the BBE if we ever made the play offs.
  14. We do pass it well in spurts but, yes, the passing and movement is not a patch on JDTs Rovers.
  15. There have been 3 clean sheets in that period. That’s the managers admitted focus, so the team are performing well. If it’s fast attacking football you want then Rovers probably aren’t the team to watch. Personally, I enjoy the fact that most weeks we are out-battling teams with greater resources and doing the shirt proud. A lot of the credit for that goes to the manager.
  16. This needs pinning to every match thread.
  17. It’s not to be sniffed at, and neither is the win.
  18. We’re doing amazingly well with the attacking options available to JE.
  19. Thank god for that, cos I’m reading a lot of posts that suggest otherwise.
  20. 3 clean sheets in a row at home. 3 wins. It’s almost like the manager knows how to get results!
  21. We’re winning because of the way Eustace sets up. If we turned up and tried to out-football teams we wouldn’t be winning 5 on the spin at home. I think people think we’ve spent £100m like Burnley.
  22. How did you feel when we were getting stuffed every week at the end of JDTs reign? JDT was very positive.
  23. Another superb win. No easy games in this league, and no easy points. 5 home wins on the bounce. Eustace is doing a fantastic job.
