That’s just a re-hash of his end of season interview. I wouldn’t read much into his comment. He’s just backing the current players he’s got and saying only a few areas need improving. He’s probably right. A GK, LB, CB, 3 x attackers would be a reasonable summer as long as those players are first team quality and not like some of the shite we signed last summer. Eustace has showed he can set the team up to keep clean sheets. If he can get a few quality attackers I’d be fairly confident of having a team that can get results. The question is whether he’ll get the players he wants.

Im not sure what you’re saying ‘really’ to? I just meant we’d likely sell him if, as suggested, he won’t sign another contract. That’s the model after all. I think he’s a good player personally but if the manager doesn’t rate him then it’s his prerogative to sell him.

Shearer, on a recent-ish podcast, spoke about Wharton. Shearer said he’d been visiting Brockhall just after AW was sold and that ‘everyone’ at Rovers i.e. the people who agreed his sale, knew that AW had been sold on the cheap ‘for obvious reasons’.
