They’re Billionaires. £20m is a drop in the ocean. I just don’t think it’s clear yet what will happen this summer. There have been no indications of anything yet. if it’s as bad as you suggest then hopefully the protests that were starting to build back up before Waggott pulled his player/fan stunt will re-ignite. As a fan base we’ve been passive for far too long.

Or they put £20m into the club as per normal, and then deposit the same amount with the Indian authorities as a bond.

In the void that is communication from the club all sorts of stuff is going to be suggested this summer. What I liked about GB was at least he treated supporters with enough respect as to let us know what was going on occasionally.

Seems an odd move if the issues regarding funding have been resolved (as stated in the joint statement between WATR and the club), also considering the new TV deal, the Raya money, the Wharton money etc I guess we’ll find out soon enough….

What an awful comment on someone who did so much good for Rovers, and who’s now struggling with ill health.

That was certainly the narrative coming out of the club, and it does have merit. We’ll see next season. Hopefully he gets the attacking players we desperately need.

Agreed. The issue last season was that when we were 6th we got injuries to key players and within a couple of months the season completely unravelled. The first XI was competetive but some games around Xmas we literally had a bench full of kids. Obviously JDT falling out with some players didn’t help. Eustace has shown he can go away from home and set a team up to defend really well. What he hasn’t shown yet, besides the odd counter attack led by Szmodics, is how to attack teams and create chances. next season we start with a clean slate. Judging by his signings at Brum he looks like he plays with quick wingers so hopefully we’re a bit more potent next season. Obviously Szmodics will be a big miss but I’m hoping we can sign some quality attackers this summer. I’m not too downbeat about next season just yet. maybe I’m just deluded!

Why would the Leeds result impact Season ticket prices/announcement?

The new Sky deal is worth twice as much as the last 1. That will offset any losses that reducing prices would bring. season ticket sales could fall off a cliff next season once people realise just how many games will be televised. we’ll never know how many season tickets we’d sell if we slash prices to Bolton/PNE levels until we actually do it.

Cheers, I get a lot wrong! So not as bad as I thought but still not much value in season tickets if over half a clubs games are televised (if we take it there’ll be an even split between home and away games)

Might be wrong but my understanding is that under the new Sky deal all Championship clubs will be on tv at least 24 times next season. That’s at least 24 games for each club that will be moved from 3pm on a Saturday. That’s a lot of games moved to Friday, Sat lunch, Sunday etc. if you can only commit to Saturdays at 3pm there is very little value in buying a season ticket. the one positive in all this is that Sky have committed to releasing in advance of the season details of which games will be on tv all the way up to Christmas (again might be wrong but that what I read)

Hogan was Eustace’s striker when brum came to Ewood a couple of seasons ago. He played really well. I’ve always thought he was decent. No idea on his age or injury record but might be one we’re interested in.

The meeting did take place in March and was promptly adjourned until August. Rovers then released a statement that as a result of that meeting that there remained only ‘technical and procedural’ matters remaining that ‘should’ have no impact on the funding of Rovers going forward. people can choose what to believe

The Indian courts who presumably previously specified that Venkys could only send money to Rovers for a specified time frame before having to return to court. That stipulation, if the WATR statement is true, has now been removed.

Yes, that’s what I meant, that there has been agreement since you met him in Nov that they can now fund the club if an equivalent bond is paid to Indian authorities, regardless of any further court decisions in August.

Who knows? We could do with someone from WATR to confirm what they know.

My guess is that when the court case was adjourned in March there was an agreement that BRFC was not longer impacted beyond providing an equivalent bond for any money they put into Rovers. Hence the statement about the remaining issues only being ‘technical’ on nature. When you met him in November or whenever that may not have been the case.

I don’t know enough about WATR to comment on their effectiveness as a fan advocacy group. I’m loathe to criticise people who give up their own time to be part of those groups. I’ve been on similar non-Rovers related groups and always found most people are in them for the right reasons
