  1. Thanks for this - though I don’t think things are great by any stretch and these guys really don’t have - or at least appear to have - any money to put in and want to make money on the deal. It certainly isn’t going to be land of milk and honey like Newcastle - though I’d rather we went under than have that kind of ownership.
  2. I really hope you are right 😁
  3. Not sure that is entirely fair. The payments alleged to have been missed are to the previous owners - who have said it isn't true. So I can either believe the people to whom the money is owed or believe a lone journalist who has most likely never even visited Burnley, one who has no doubt added 2 and 2 to come up with 9. Overall I remain resolute in my view, I don't like the deal and don't believe it to be good for the club AND don't see it ending well for us however I also doubt the accuracy of the article, the solitary source of this "story". Most likely one fairly minor previous shareholder feeling disgruntled has spouted some drivel and the journo has padded it out - shame the profession wasn't so keen to report on downing street parties over the last 2 years. The main tick tock right now is whether we sign anyone. If we get relegated the other tick tock starts in my view.
  4. Got to be a draw I think - BUT our fate is still in our own hands and we need to be looking at how we can get some results.
  5. Know almost nothing about him - or if the links are true. Sometimes players come to teams like Burnley to get in the shop window for a bigger deal so I guess, like Cornet, he may feel its worth giving it a go.
  6. You'll notice I didn't suggest that meant we had more than a few buttons 😁 I don't read the Tory and Brexit rags and don't believe anything they print, especially the Sun, Mail and express. I doubt Matt Hughes or any Mail reporter could point to Burnley on a map to be honest. Of course it is all grist for the mill and, to repeat. I don't like the deal, never have and never will and I don't see how it ever ends well for the club. This story sounds like much ado about not much, with the bigger picture issue being the debt loaded onto the club and how that is serviceable if we go down but also provides enough funds in players etc to keep us up.
  7. Like I say, the Daily Heil is a right wing cesspit of mainly lies and half truths. The previous owners have some protections built in as I understand it - and no suggestion at all we have any less money for recruitment than ever we have. Don't get me wrong I'm not happy about the deal or the way it is structured but it is no worse today than a year ago - but the media need something to print. No, is she a striker? Seriously though, this isn't the 60's and it is already old news, a couple of signing before the 5th (as the Watford game has been scheduled then) and everyone will be happy - well assuming we can pick up a few points somewhere.
  8. We work to a tight wage structure and relatively small transfer budget. Remember there are a number of Championship clubs who can bid more and pay more than we do as well as the rest of the PL and major European leagues. It took us an age to get the Cornet deal over the line. This makes the talent pool for us much narrower than many clubs. Also our overseas network hasn’t been strong. We have to accept we are a small fish in a pond filled with Sharks and Whales.
  9. First a disclaimer, I have zero inside information. So firstly the club have rubbished the Mail article - and I believe little I read in there so I’ll take them at their word for now. on transfers - a decent article in the Athletic says we were already open to signings and looking but targets were limited and main area was a creative mid. Seems we are struggling to identify targets but definitely already had money before the Wood sale. In general I have heard that there was some friction pre Wood sale as Dyche wanted the finished article whilst Pace wanted younger players with greater potential resale value. There is no doubt the Wood sale has created a lot of problems to be solved but I don’t think there is any major issue between board and manager - and as for bookies odds I’m guessing people are pilling on because we are bottom of the league. I think he’s more likely to walk than we are to sack him. That said nothing much surprises me in football so we shall see.
  10. Arsenal at the weekend - which we’d lose 99 out of 100 anyway and no game until the 8th Feb so there is time. It isn’t easy finding the right players wiling to come at the best of times and especially when we are in such relegation danger. Nothing in a week and I’ll start worrying.
  11. I’m sure you mean once they have isolated for the requisite period, just like every other club who postponed games, including Watford, Villa and Everton against us. Sauce for the goose and all that.
  12. Some humour to lighten your day
  13. Agreed - but our game against Watford would be interesting as it should have been played before players went to Africa. I didn't know that - I'm not sure how it has been factored into these rules of postponement. As I understand it you can only request a postponement if some of the missing players are a result of COVID - so Leeds had to play with 9 injuries the other day (mind they won so probably are happy they did so). It really should never have been allowed and once you opened the flood gates what came was inevitable - and arguably its only fair we (and others) use it. Watford and Everton avoided playing us at a time that would have really suited us due to their injuries etc - and before we lost our main striker in the transfer window and our best attacker to Africa. I guess last night we used those same rules to avoid the re match at a time that didn't suit us. Funnily enough we are getting more stick on talksport etc than Watford ever did for all the games they cancelled. Like pandoras box we can't get the lid back on now.
  14. I said ‘watching us in Europe’ - and that is a fact 😉
  15. It’s a premier league rule, you can name a maximum of 25 players who can make up your match day squad - I think you can have different players in the cups. Or they will be like a well oiled machine 😬
  16. Thats a bit of a leap - if we'd given up then we'd just play the game with kids. It's either simply a case of we have a lot of Covid etc (remember we don't carry a big squad) or (maybe as likely) we delay so we can sign a player of two and Cornet is back Whilst I don't disgaree, as we were on the other side of this with a few games, notably Watford when it suited them, why shouldn't we use the "system"? That was my thought as soon as we asked for Leicester to be postponed - always felt it was more likely to be about this game than that one though.
  17. I don't know why they didn't invest but I suspect they were too risk averse - and maybe saw a chance to make a big wedge. I'm not sure on the shelf life - I think if both club and manager are willing/able to evolve then no reason it should be the case. I have no inside knowledge at all so can only surmise where we are at. Maybe they are considering a managerial change but if they are there has been no leaks at all. My understanding is the new Chairman wants to develop players more so than previous regimes - and even more use "scouting" technology to help recruitment. No issue with it but we have an immediate need for impact this month AND an overhaul in Summer - or they decide to accept relegation and start to build now for next season and beyond. With the apparently complicated buy back clause this seems less likely to be on the agenda.
  18. Lots of pish being spouted. I do watch them week in and out and quite frankly have had the best times as a fan under Dyche. 2 promotions, beating your lot home and away, finishing 7th, Watching us in Europe. I'd agree the last few seasons have been on the stale side - that is what happens when the owners starve the manager of signings - you can't make a silk purse out a sows ear but you can still make something to keep your money in it, will be as useful just far less pretty. Simple reality is the board bottled it and didn't back him after the 7th place finish. I don't know what the rest of this season holds but those moping fans quoted on here, the ones who probably still come when its Manure, Liverpool etc, meh, we don't miss them. It is strange that they claim to have stopped "a few years ago" when we couldn't go on for a year and half. Most of those fans will be amongst the 6000 or so that only started going on the match when we were promoted anyway. Personally I wouldn't sack Dyche under any circumstance - well not football related anyway. Further more as it goes if it wasn't for the leveraged buyout I wouldn't mind going down, the Championship is an exciting league to be in. On the Garlick thing, apparently if we get relegated he has the option to buy back at a fixed price. Sounds like a really strange deal they did.
  19. Yep - ok as long as we stay up but go down and we are in trouble - at least we are beyond year 1 parachutes.
  20. I don’t believe Andy Carroll can play 90 minutes at the highest level. Last time I saw him at our gaff a couple of years back he’d commuted 2 or 3 red card offences in about 5 minutes. If he was brought in as a last 15 minutes, throw bodies up top thing maybe. Have we been linked with Moore? Been busy with work so haven’t seen that. Don’t know much about him other than he’s big. Think he’s got about 1 in 3 for Cardiff based on a quick Google. I guess beggars can’t be choosers but neither would inspire. I do trust the manager though so if he sees him as part of the solution then so be it - personally I’d prefer a younger player but January, IMO, is never an ideal time to buy.
  21. Leveraged buyout, very similar to United where once purchased the debt is loaded onto the club. It stinks and shouldn’t be allowed but it is, in most business spheres.
  22. Very convenient - yea the fixtures pile up a bit but arguably buys time to get players in AND cornet back from international duty.
  23. Regardless of everything the squad has issues the coming summer. Whilst we still very much have a shout at staying up I’ll be gutted if they settle for relegation at this stage. But being linked with Carroll is not filling me with confidence.
  24. I saw that and assumed it was a joke - Carroll from 5 years ago maybe - I honestly thought he’d retired. Haha - likewise, I’d like to wish you well however the truth is I’m hoping you finish third and lose in the play off final 😉
  25. As ever there are more stories about player wages than there are players however I’d heard our highest paid was 80k - certainly don’t believe it’s 100k
