Not been champions of England in just shy of a century. I think Cundy has it about right. The are not a glamour club and they aren’t a London club. We all know money talks but if they want the big name foreign signings they will need to pay significant premiums on wages etc. Now we are foreign owned I think that leaves only a few clubs truly British owned - Norwich, Brighton and Brentford spring to mind, maybe Palace? If so then the infamous overseas games could soon become a reality - maybe the phrase ‘can they do it on a sweltering Sunday in Riyadh’ will replace ‘a rainy Tuesday in Burnley.’ *forgot West Ham.

Now now lads, I mentioned marquee and Dyche in two completely seperate points. No I don't think they will even consider him, what was it big Sam used to say about changing his name to Alladychio? Giovanni Dycio has ring maybe? They will want a name, no idea who that will be, Conti, Zidane? They might go British for the "story" though? Maybe give Howe a chance with finance, after all he plays pretty football. My point re Dyche is simply taking him would have the biggest, most immediate impact on our season.

My limited view on this is that in general these oil sheiks and oligarchs have and continue to skew the competition. We all often talk about the amazing Leicester win whilst "forgetting" they went bump, didn't pay local contractors and then were bankrolled to success by a billionaire owner. But thats just how it is and we have to accept that. Where I struggle is the with sport washing of individuals and regimes. Joe Strummer once sang that "if Adolf Hitler flew in today, they'd send a limosine anyway". This was in 1978 and things have only got worse since then. More recently Ricky Gervais said "If ISIS started a streaming service, you'd call your agent, wouldn't you?" at the Golden Globes. It is rank hypocrisy and yet another nail in my football support coffin. As for it making our situation worse, 2 points. Firstly I'm not convinced it does, at least not short term. They have to recruit and then integrate. They might get it right but they aren't likely to go for a Big Sam and I'm not convinced they can get a manager who is a "marquee" appointment AND has it in their locker to turn out a team that will scrap for the results. That said they might decide to take Dyche and that would make it much worse for us. That aside if we can't be better than 3 other teams, regardless of takeovers etc, then we deserve to go down. That is how it works, for now, until the European Super League raises its head again.

😁 Sorry I missed this post. Sadly it was much less entertaining. At the time they seemed like huge angry aggresive men who planned to beat up a kid but looking back they were just slightly pissed lads having a bit of a laugh - seeing me pedal away furiously close to pooing my pants was undoubtedly very funny - I'm sure the win was more enjoyable though 😡

On the surface it appears to be a bit of a non story, an attempt to tidy up or "be fair" however I think if they we able to purchase these shares that would take them to over 90%. I have a dim memory of a change in rights if/when you get above 90% - like you can force any remaining shareholders to sell etc but I'm no expert. I don't own any shares but the idea of a cash and store credit offer wouldn't appeal to me - feels like trying to get them on the cheap. They currently have around 84% so in terms of control and direction it probably doesn't make much difference as far as I could imagine but I'm no expert in company law and I don't know what the companies articles etc might say that might make this more significant than it initially appears.

Tactics are pretty much the same - though when the front Pairing is Vydra/Wood there is subtle difference to two big men up top. I'm not sure but I suspect when Cornet is fit we may see some further small tactical differences as he would add additional options. We played reasonably well against Norwich - and for me deserved 2 penalties. We should have won but are lacking a cutting edge in front of goal. Wood needs to find his shooting boots again and really we need Vydra fit and starting for me. So I didn't think a point was exactly fair but I also didn't think we created enough clear chances to win the game. Brentford and Palace are at home - however we can't win at home at the minute so the away fixtures might be our best option.

Oh I don't know about that - Southampton, Brentford, Wolves and Palace are all beatable - not saying we will of course but a result is more than achievable. I'll accept I don't expect much from Chelsea/City/Spurs.

The trip by Hanley looked nailed on as well. All that said, when you fail to beat bottom of the league who have lost their opening 6 games you are in real trouble. Well it's usually 5 they put passed us but the way we are playing right now 8 isn't out of the question.

Well in terms of the season, poor start but we’ve added a couple of players and Dyche you’d imagine will slowly turn it around - no guarantee of course but he’s our best shot. The changes are happening around the club. It’s all becoming more ‘corporate’. Yes this means better organised but with each step forward it feels like a little of the soul is lost. They have and continue to change staff and bring in new processes and procedures to make us a modern company. Trouble is that makes me feel like a customer rather than a part of the club. I know it is just the modern world and I’m just an old b*****d railing against the dying of the light but even my youngest son (19) is getting a little disillusioned by it all.

As it goes I often, through gritted teeth, pointed down the M65 as the model for how we needed to run our club in the days pre venky's. We found our own way of doing it and did it well but ultimately the Premier League riches turned the heads of our "owners who are fans" and they took the money. Whilst I of course have enjoyed some of your troubles under Venky's and the associated hangers on - as pointed out '87, '91 etc and a scary chase on my BMX from some Rovers fans in '82, I was on my BMX not the Rovers fans - I would never want you to go bump. Like it or not the local rivalries are a large part of why we bother so I want you to continue, just at least one division below us for another few decades. I guess the simple reality now for us (Burnley) is we will survive as long as we can stay in the PL, perhaps a single season in the Championship. For all you trilas under Venky's they continue it seems to be happy to keep you afloat with no expectation of getting their cash back.

Someone mentioned different rules for us plebs - outside of Burnley noone will care over much if the carcass is discarded once the money men have had their feed - just as they didn't with Bury, Bolton and all the rest. Don't worry I don't expect sympathy on here but football in this country was built upon the foundation of lots of "town" teams and the money from the pockets of hard working families. Our pyramid and its strength in depth is what made our football, for me, the most exciting to watch. Maybe not the technical best but usually the most enthralling. It's all a bit stale now for me. I'm actually contemplating giving up the season ticket and taking in more non league games at Nelson or Colne with just the odd game at the turf or even away from home.

We had loads of money - and the new owners used it to buy the club. Thye put around 15 million of their own money in, somewhere around 60 million of the clubs money and borrowed the rest.

I can't get excited when I know the manager and team won't really be trying. It's s*** but this is the world we live in. The club is now - and has to be - all about the "business", the money. Pragmatism over romanticism. I can see a day soon where I just give up on it altogether.

8 points but three games coming up (Palace, Fulham and West Brom) which will likely decide whether we get relegated or not. I don't like Dyche's approach to cups and actually think this was a great chance to give it a go but it's just not in him. I'm not even sure if we were safe in 10th he'd give it a go. And I don't want to take anything away from Bournemouth, they deserved it and you can only beat what is put in front of you. Last decent go we had in a cup was in the Coyle promotion season, I've given up on them now.

A weakened side with the experienced players not looking overly interested. No surprise as it's been Dyche's hallmark since he came to us. Everyone knows he doesn't care about the cups and that must come across to the players. Still fair play to Bournemouth, easily the better side on the night and deserved a comfortable win.

Just for the record we immediately said we would pay all staff and would not be using the government scheme. In premier league terms we are not rich, we don't have a rich benefactor. If we can afford it then most of the others surely can?

It would have been like Blackburn lending us a few bob back in '87 ... But yes, ultimately as fans, owners and clubs we need to accept we are responsible for the whole of football, that ultimately our health is very closely aligned to the health of the total game, grass roots up. The reason, IMO, why the premier league has traditionally been so popular is because of the strength of the foundations below it in the football league. We ignore that at our peril - and that is what we are doing. That said we also need regulation that actually stops rogue owners overspending, saddling clubs with huge debts then bailing out. Of course it won't happen because as fans we are very self centred. We hate people "buying the league" until its our club the billionaire wants, then we don't care. And we don't care about any knock on it might have on the wider game. In the main only when it starts to unravel do we start to cry foul. I guess it comes to this - do we care about our club only or do we care about our club and football as whole. I'm not sure what the answer to that is if I'm honest.

Don't go blaming us! The whole ownership structure and regulation in this country needs an overhaul with something akin to the German model coming in.
