  1. B*stards ready for the off
  2. quote from letter sent by a clarets mad poster Sir I was flabbergasted to read the remarkably contrived and made up comments in this article by Stephen Bierley. The first paragraph is pure rubbish. I, and no other Burnley or Blackburn fans that I have ever known, have ever referred to Turf Moor as ‘Tiny Moor’; ‘Jackburn Jokers’ is not a term ever heard before, and I have never heard Burnley fans compare the current position of Bolton with that of Blackburn. As a Burnley fan, terms such as ‘Turd Moor’, ******* Rovers’ and ‘Deadwood’ (for Ewood) are commonly heard. So, in a opening paragraph of 4 lines, your reporter has clearly been at the fiction bottle the night before, having failed to research his subject properly – surely the first rule of journalism is to do your research properly and not just make things up as you go along? I dared not read on for fear that the rest of the article could be of equivalent distorted drivel. Unfortunately I glanced through it and found my concerns to have been justified. Kind Regards
  3. Yeah - Apparently a load have been returned as Burnley fans, in fear for their safety from the invading hoardes have decided to watch at home - apparently they all read the Derby memories thread and didn;t realise it was a work of fiction
  4. Looks like we are going to be locked in at the end for our own safety as they get the Rovers fans out of town - thank god for that I wouldn't want to walk home with such dangerous and scary people roaming the streets looking for innocent Burnley fans to attack.
  5. Just read the other post - hitting players with stones, the legendary vans full of fans, banjoing (couldn't work this one out - why would football fnas from Blackburn have Banjo's with em, then I remembered deliverance) Wow - I guess we'd better be careful on Sunday - and I thought the buses and police protection were for your benefit
  6. I've a feeling he may be wrong there. Spoken to a number of people this week who are going but have tickets in the home areas. Spoke to Nicky Reid tonight, and his feeling was he just can't see Burnley stopping Rovers from scoring, this after I'd suggested should Burnley score first we may find it very difficult to get in front. here we go again with the rovers will have half the stands nonesense. Last time you couldn;t sell 4000 and this time - if you are to be believed - you have not only sold around 12000 tickets but 8000 of those people have queued at Burnley to get them Nonesense -
  7. quick question for you hard lads - where were you all when Norman Jones got on the pitch and nearly chined one of your players?
  8. Wow bricks, coins, guys in stetsons, chasing Burnley fans up brunshaw road, sneaking of trains to go 6 against 1, remind again who are the supposed violent ones
  9. Tony Grant has just equalised - first goal in 88 games get in. Will do the squad comparison and post soon
  10. 12 with upto 4 games in hand on teams above us. In theory we could go upto 7th - just 10 places below you Still love the arrogance, as I say lets hope your squad have the same and get the same fate as Villa and Liverpool before you.
  11. I'll tell you now it matters to me BUT if you were to give me a choice of beating you boys or a place in the play-offs - well I've gone 25 years without a victory, whats a few more? We are massive underdogs for this one, though of course now we have added another loan signing we do have 13 outfield players to chose from (ignore the kids - if the manager thought they were good enough he would have tried them already) Still, feeling good about this. We have proved to be hard to beat this season. Still love the confidence - I hope your squad are approaching the game with the same lack of respect for their opposition
  12. No idea but if there are I would regard that as a positive not a negative - a club determined to deal with it
  13. Why do I have to bite? Have you actually checked the figures? Do you know the background to it? Our club, in association with the local Police have adopted a very strong line on banning orders. For example in the NCIS report for last year, we actually issued banning orders against 17 people MORE than were arrested. Blackburn on the other hand issued banning orders to only 44% of those arrested (for the record Burnley issued 51 banning orders against 34 arrests, Balckburn issued 20 orders against 45 arrests So the percentage is high, to reflect our determination to deal with the issue Out of interest, in the figures there were NO arrests for violent disorder amongst Burnley fans (and 6 amongst Blackburn fans)
  14. I have decided to take a break from this forum. It is clear that whilst there are many who have sense and an understanding of the true background and history of many things there are a few to many bigots who, undoubtedly because they can hide behind computer anonimity and don;t have to justify themselves in a face to face debate (and no that is not a threat of physical retribution, just pointing out that they do not have the metal capacity for genuine debate) that I think it better to stay away for the next few weeks - though of course I will come back on immediately after the match to gloat or congratulate as appropriate
  15. Justify it, explain it away? No but yet again you make statements of fact - which are in fact complete fabrications. The man convicted of this crime was not a Burnley resident, was not a Burnley supporter. The points I made re where he was and how he got to the ground were in relation the ridiculous statement that a fan was killed 'walking down the street' which he wasn;t. He was in a pub and there was a fight - not acceptable nor excusable. It ended with the total destruction of one life and undoubtedly many others in his family. Nobody gained from this. Why are you so keen to lay this at the door of Burnley Football Club or even Burnley town? And as for the banning orders, perhaps if you applied a few you wouldn't have fans embarrasing your club on national television?
  16. why peddle nonesense? Let me give you the facts (and by the way Burnley is in no way unique as an area where football fans have died on matchday) The Forest fan travelled to Burnley in a mini bus. Allegedly he was with members of a group from Forest called the FNS. When the trouble started he was drinking in Yates's Wine Lodge in Burnley (at 17?). He was killed by somebody NOT from Burnley, NOT a Burnley fan (he was in fact banned from Turf Moor I believe - and has variously been claimed as a fan of many clubs - Man City being the one that comes up most often). I believe the area he lived in may actually in the Blackburn or Hyndburn borough - though I am not 100% on this. Why desparately try to use this tragic incident to label Burnley, its club and people?
  17. West Brom? Ask the many who have had a good kicking and had bottles rained down on them their about West Brom fans. Ask people about the antics of Leeds, Millwall, Cardiff, Stoke, MAn U, Liverpool, need I go on. In fact why not read a few posts on here glorying in the hard man antics of Rovers fans...... Where does the desparation stop? All over Burnley as it goes. You choose a few run down area's and suggest this is the entire town? I don't know Blackburn well but I bet within 10 minutes of landing I could find some dodgy estates, largely Muslim areas with similar social problems to daneshouse etc. Its interesting that you chose to peddle stereotypes about the people of Burnley whilst claiming to hate the people of Burnley for holding similar views - are you confused or just not over gifted with intelligence?
  18. So have i Bought before the trip t'turf in about 1988 pre-season. Also in the aqueduct that night before we set off tee-shirts we on sale to commemorate the fly over and upon arrival in burnley the police would not allow anyone in the ground who had them on? so obviously the lads took them off then put them back on again when in the ground Great policing! There are a few class shirts commemorating one or two other events as well - like the time we installed some air conditioning Still, as painful as it was, you have to say the fly over stunt was a touch of genius - who came up with the idea? (ps I was there at the time and I can tell you I was certainly not so calm about it at the time!!) BTW anybody hear Will Young talking about Simon Garners on CHris Moyles this morning? Something we should know about?
  19. Tell you what thats a good idea if it could be achieved. Not just cards but anything blue and white it should be a theme day i'd say. and i ain't going dont be nicking our ideas http://boards.footymad.net/mboard/load.php...&mid=2141648397 I may have a doppelganger but I don't like to talk about it Post largely on Clarets Mad - this is the only rival board I post on with any regualrity, and occasionaly PNE
  20. Joined as I like the occasional bit of banter. Obviously if my presence upsets you I will gladly retire from your MB - assuming of course Rovertime et al will no longer visit ours
  21. Of course I'll still be here in just over a week if you beat us - I was posting on occasion before this. You got the year wrong? Truth is it was the comments about having been back 'everytime' you have played us since (which was nearly 20 years later!!) Come on, own up, you started going just a little after Uncle Jacks wallet opened.
  22. oh diddums, did ickle scotty get caught talking ###### - and now he doesn't like it Truth is my friend I am far better at it then you - and that bothers you Yeah I remember Garner - hate him but its a shame there are not a few more out there today who love their club the way he did. Beat us home and away that season - and the next time we were in the same division as well Those 4 wins allowed you to go ahead of us in the victories score between the clubs
  23. it must have been 82/83. The next nearest Rovers win at the Turf was 77/78 but that was the 2-3 mentioned earlier on this post. As for been back ever time you've played us since - well that would be once then. Now you talk about the somewhat muddled memory of Burnley fans for the gates - now you are trying to say half the home stands were filled with Rovers as well? Do me a favour
  24. really cletus - strange that because if you look carefully you will see the Longside (Home Section) and Bee Hole are actually quite full, whilst the away section was empty - we must have been playing your lot
  25. If you look at this picture http://fp.homesoffootball.f9.co.uk/0606_BURNLEY.jpg I think you can see the no mans land ends just before the half way line
