  1. About the only time I will ever agree with Jim, it is a fantastic sport...... 70% of our press is owned by Murdoch and we all know what his rags are like. Strange the Guardian felt the need to regurgitate the rubbish, I suppose it was news worthy on some level..... I guess all all the comments in this thread are purely in retaliation and classed as self defence, "Without style we'd just be err, Australians !"...well done, before taking the high road though, may I suggest prior that you display some of that class and dignity that you so richly believe you have.
  2. Well that was a nice couple of days of celebration. I am sure the England team will bounce back so I am savoring this but very impressed with the heart shown by Australia. Not bad for a @#/? bowling attack hey Jimbo?
  3. Overcast with a bit of a breeze fro Thursday, looking out the windows looks like it should be a nice day. Expect some swing in first three days, unfortunately that is all I think you will get as thunderstorms are forecast from Sunday.
  4. Good on Clarke for trying to make a game of it, to hell with the statistics, let's go all out. Good series by two misfiring teams, the difference between the two teams being Ian Bell who played outstandingly. Should make for decent return on the Australian pitches.
  5. No, Lehmann's were tongue in cheek as well..........that is really easy, isn't it? 82-83, 89, 90-91, feel free to include them as well. Consensus here is that Gower is irrelevant, Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines indeed
  6. Oh Jimbo, why do you keep opening yourself up to ridicule for your continued hypocrisy? *cough* Ashes series of 1982-83 *cough* Terry Alderman *cough*. Understandable though for an English cricketing thug to attack him considering he continually decimated your lineup for a decade. Not quite India or Sri Lanka though is it.......I wonder what Sir David says about those places, probably nothing as he is as gutless off the pitch as he was on it as Captain. SKH, I understand what you are getting at but it seems a bit rich that Lehmann cops a 2000 pound fine for saying "send him home crying" yet an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire decries an entire nation of being "ferals" with "no culture" and this is acceptable behaviour. As I said before, it is Cricket, I think we become a bit precious when we cry foul of quite harmless statements, hardly a fatwa on Mr Broad.
  7. Haha, you guys can't possibly be THAT precious? Probably the dumbest post I have read in a long time in relation to cricket. Aggressive crowds, violence, physical violence.....I don't know if you actually watch Cricket but I can assure you calling for the crowd to boo and jeer and "send him home crying" doesn't generally lead to the outcomes you are expecting in your post. An environment only the toughest would survive.....holy @#/?, that actually has me laughing quite hard, it's cricket mate, CRICKET.
  8. I think the DRS should be used by the umpires ONLY, if they don't feel 100% comfortable with their decision they can review it. Like they do with third umpire. The option is there for them and they will by judged by their decisions.
  9. Importance ranking:Minor I wonder if this applies to everything you write? By the looks of above, yes, nailed it.
  10. Dave, I don't believe there is anything wrong with his captaincy....the top order is not at Test cricket level. Clarke has to go to 3, no question. He has to lead from the front in the batting or this is going to be a whitewash. The problem for me has always been Watson, you are essentially entrusting the formation of an Australian innings to a poor mans version of Andrew Symonds which would never have been the case. Cowan, Rogers, Clarke, Khawaja, Hughes, Warner/Faulkner, Haddin, Siddle, Lyon, Pattinson, Bird would be my team
  11. Except for AB de Villiers, Sangakkara or Dhoni you mean..... Terrible effort, prob the worst Australian cricket team I have ever seen made worse that an above par England team is destroying them, thank god we are not playing SA anytime again soon.
  12. Oh Jim, I have missed you. Hope you have somewhere safe to keep your eye as you only seem to need one for the next month.
  13. R.I.P, always enjoyed reading his posts
  14. Finally watched the new POTC, thought it was good actually better then the last one. Also SUBMARINE which I thought was pretty good, massive fan of everything Richard Ayoade does though so no surprise.
  15. If you liked SUPER watch Defendor with Woody Harrelson, very good flick. See also Griff the Invisible.
  16. Cars was trashed as well by critics however the kids loved it and I reckon this will be just as popular. I think the 33% will slowly rise like it's predecessor over the next couple of months and it will creep into certified fresh.
  17. I remember when it was just about calling someone out, a couple of interferences and beat downs later you would get the payoff at a PPV Hogan joining the NWO, Sgt Slaughter joining The Anti-Americans, Hogan body slamming Andre, Mega-Powers explode, Hogan handing The Ultimate Warrior the WC belt, Macho Man elbowing Ric Flair from the top rope...... and that was just the WWF! Days of our lives roundabouts now, and it becomes tedious and time consuming.
  18. Don't know if you should be making that public knowledge FLB... "Michael Bay and Tony Scott made love to the American flag, birthed a demon spawn and called it Battle Los Angeles." Best review yet for this peice of ######.
  19. Both, whilst the story may be the same they qare still just as good each in their own right, you may also like to watch "Battle Beyond the Stars" which is a Magnificent Seven rework in space. Not even close to being the same caliber as its predecessors but enjoyable enough.
  20. Oh yes, there are a number... The Hills Have Eyes Unrated HILLBILLY Let The Right One In / Let Me In (US remake which is quite awesome as well) VAMPIRE The Human Centipede SICK HORROR/COMEDY The Crazies (2010 remake) ZOMBIES Splice FREAKS Zombieland HORROR/COMEDY Thirst VAMPIRE Trick 'R' Treat HORROR Antichrist SUPERNATURAL Pontypool ZOMBIES REC / Quarantine (US remake, not as good as first one) ZOMBIES Drag Me to Hell HORROR/COMEDY Orphan FREAKY KID HORROR Jennifer's Body VAMPIRE The Descent MONSTER The Midnight Meat Train HORROR Splinter MONSTER The Orphanage (must see) SUPERNATURAL The Mist MONSTER 30 Days of Night VAMPIRE Pans Labyrinth (not really horor as such but very dark dream fantasy, in my all time top 10 movies) SUPERNATURAL
  21. It would be sooooo much better if he did actually intentionally mean them to be funny, if he wasn't so pretentious and arrogant about his "art" then maybe people would cut him some slack. Seriously, Aliens who can master space travel but can't open a door?
  22. Thought Devil was pretty ordinary, not enough suspense and too many plot holes. M Knight needs to watch more Sam Raimi movies if he wants to nail how to make a modern day horror/suspense. I like Guy Ritchie, to me he has only made one bad movie and that was that peice of ###### Swept Away
  23. Better the Henry, Klinsmann, Drogba, Cantona and Bergkamp? Equal with Cole, Zola, Rush, Owen, Fowler, Wright, RVN and Sheringham
  24. Shearer was a great striker but the greatest ever if he went to Europe.....Jeez, that is rose coloured glasses. He is not even the greatest in PL history let alone what has come before throughout the globe.... I think there is definately a curse.... Shearer bottled and remained the "main man" at a lesser club, Neill, Sherwood, Benni, Freidel, RSC, Bentley, Warnock, Sutton, Bellamy etc NEVER refound the form they had at Rovers, trophies, armbands, eng reps means nothing when you never show the same form or quality that gave you the opportunity to leave in the first place.
