  1. Is that the same morals and principals that mean Allardyce can talk about another managers job whereby the unwritten rule is that you don't, no matter how much pressure etc they are under? And did I tell all you lot I was offered the Newcastle job before Souness ............... oh no I've done it too. I have to say the way we do business as a club is a credit to Mr Williams - contrast this with the pressure Souness is under now being at least 4th choice (Bruce, Allardyce and myself) whereas we come out and expressly say our shortlist contains 3 names form 30 applicants and one of these will be appointed to the job.
  2. Houllier is worse than Souness for falling out with players - Thommo, Westerveld, Babbel, Fowler all well publicised at the time and if you speak to Liverpools fans thers a lot lot more Bryan - I take it your list includes Baros because he didn't play him and you can add Cheyrou to that little list
  3. Moyes would want the job so he can attract the type of players he wants to work with (Ferguson, Dickov, Matteo) keep his established and up and coming stars (Radsinski, Rooney, et al) and work with his team without any outside interference (Kenwright, true Blue Holdings, daily meetings with creditors etc) Everyon are a bigger club, but have been so badly run for so long they will not be able to hold a level footing in the Premiership without some serious investment - and that being after their investor has cleared off the debt. I think there debt is still around £30m even if they use all the Rooney money from this year and next. Even with this taken into account there is still less pressure on a Rovers boss to perform than there is at Everton
  4. If it is Hughes then he HAS to leave the Wales job, I don't want our manager watching players like Earnshaw play for WBA instead of scouting for us - it might be OK for Peter Taylor at Hull but a part time Premiership Manager won't work. Especially if he gets the same sort of salary that Souness was getting.
  5. I'll bet you don't see Jim or Jan on here now until Rovers appoint someone - then it can be the wrong person, its all gone wrong, woe is me etc etc etc. Looking at skybet Peter Taylor at 66/1 wouldn't be too bad a shout although it all went wrong at Leicester. I bet the tickets for Saturday are flying out of the club shop though.
  6. John Bond, always a true blue Rovers fan.
  7. Strachans wife was ill and he needed an operation and time to recover. He's my choice - I'm not sure who I'd go for as second choice but it needs to be a man of experience not Newell or Hughes.
  8. I'm another who would like to say thanks to Graeme for the last 3 years where he turned round a side with Grayson, McAteer, Blake, Ward, Dailly etc etc and turned it into the Premiership outfit we are today. A trophy, two trips to Europe, six place - all great achievements. My choice has to be Strachan, if he doesn't want the job then it has to be someone with experience - Hughes, Newell are too new to the job for me. This next appointment is a massive step for us as a club and we must get it right. 3 points on Saturday and "Souness, Souness whats the score" ringing from the away end! I think its a big shout for Souness as tactically I don't think he is a top 4 Premiership manager and NUFC have a lot of very highly paid "precious" players and I think Souness rules by fear - and I can't see that sitting well with the Dyers, Roberts, Bellamys etc etc. I think this is a positive step as I as well as others were thinking it was time for a change at Ewood and the falling out with players had to stop. £5m for Amoruso in January would be just fine Graeme
  9. Will they be able to turn this down once the administrators are in, especially given that the transfer window only runs to the end of the month?? As I understand the 5-8million is only to cover interest payments etc not to service any of the debt
  10. Just been reading the same article on http://www.wldcup.com/news/2004Jan/20040115_21905_world_soccer.html Alan Smith for £1.5m on Monday sounds like a real deal to me, James Milner is left sided and there may be one or two others. Vultures circling over Elland Road lets get in first as once those administrators receive bids the decent players will be on their way.
  11. I got a call at 4:30 yesterday from the club to tell me my tickets are ready for collection, and didn't hand in an envelope or anything, just the voucher, Bully for me but I also have two friends who are both season ticket holders and both went to Sofia and they haven't got tickets, despite travelling to most games home and away. They are both out of the country, one on holiday and one on business, but he missed the Newcastle game and so couldn't hand his application in (Would have helped if he had known anything about the postal applications!) Tried to phone all day Monday and couldn't get through, shambolic that the club can't look after 500 fans who spent over £500 each to cheer them on in Bulgaria. I'm sure many of you will recognise and know the two lads but they (like Jordan) are feeling severely let down by the club at the moment.
  12. As I said earlier I knew nothing about the Saturday/Sunday availability for season ticket holder who went to Sofia - as I read it I thought they were just putting 500 on one side for everyone who went to Bulgaria. It is a joke as they already have all those names and addresses from the ticket applications. They could have visited each of us individually to let us know! The clubs PR image has suffered considerably in my eyes over this, the club made a tenner on every fan who bought a ticket for Sofia at £12 by my reckoning, unless we subsidised the Bulgarian fans who came over here. One announcement to keep everyone in the know, sell the tickets over today, tomorrow and Wednesday and organise stub requirements/buying histories etc etc. I missed out on the cup game at Bolton when the club put ALL the tickets straight onto general sale rather than to Season Tricket holders first - and I'm not even going to mention the £26 for the home game!
  13. Lee I have, and regularly use the internet, but a comment on a thread isn't good enough when the club printed announcements and the main ticket on the website which made NO MENTION of Saturday/Sunday. If I hadn't have heard about this, as I say from the guy who sits behind me then I would have missed out on a ticket and been furious this morning. i should have my ticket reserved now but really do feel this could and should have been handled much better.
  14. Why then Lee, did the club not announce that season ticket holders could claim their tickets on Saturday or Sunday? Why did we then have to queue after the game on Saturday (I was told this by the guy who sits behind me, who I understand messaged you to find out what was going on) to hand in applications and then other people who queued actually got their tickets. I spoke to a group on lads on Sunday who went down to the ground and also got tickets while I didn't even get a receipt, they just wrote my card number down. The communication over all this has been terrible, the club have let themselves down again, taking 9 days to announce the details doesn't help either. Apparantly stewards are telling anyone who turns up at Ewood there is a queue of over 3 hours for tickets.
  15. I'm getting him Pro-plus for Celtic, the funny thing was he was about 15 foot away from the hotel room door!!
