  1. Whilst I agree with the majority doubting Wahlstedt, I think he'd have a better chance of improving with a settled defence, obviously for various reasons that's not been possible. Regardless of that though he really needs to work on a few areas of his game, not sure if there's an element of nerves in there or what. I don't think we've signed a complete dud, yet.

  2. I just hope everyone enjoys it, both players and fans.

Sadly can't make it as I've just started a new job so couldn't really get time off.

Above all else we could really do with avoiding any further injuries too!

As for the result, you never know do ya, dare to dream and all that jazz 😁 it'll either be a pasting or a West Ham-esque battling win. 3-0 Chelsea if I had to guess....

  3. Classic post International break game really, I very wrongly expected it to be a bit better, but time to accept they never are! In fact every game ive watched so far this weekend hasnt been great....The good news is the next game is only in a few days and a chance to kick on.

I dare say if we'd had a fully fit Tronstad and Jimmy playing all season we'd be a good few points better off and would have conceded less goals. Fingers crossed both stay fit because you'd imagine they can also improve further with more game time.

I think we're due a home win and am expecting a scrappy 2-1. It won't be anywhere near as easy as the cup game the other week.

Let's see if Tronstad really is 'up to speed' after managing one decent game thus far, and whether Dolan really can 'lead the line well'.

I disagree, I think we'll put on a bit of a show today. 4-1 home win.

Bloody hope so anyway, this international break seems to have taken an eternity to end so I hope it doesn't end in disappointment.

  5. In fairness Jim does have half a point, QPR look a terrible team, I was half expecting to wake up to news of Ainsworth being sacked.

That being said, one of our problems has been converting chances, you can't deny that problem went away yesterday, let's hope its not temporary. We could have done without the damn international break disrupting the momentum from yesterday.

  6. Qpr are shite, but they've conceded 5 less goals than us so far this season, they don't seem to be shipping that many goals compared to us lately.

I can see a pretty useless 1-1 draw.

Hopefully I'm wrong and we turn a bit of a corner to reward those making the trip.

I'm considering not watching, finding it quite depressing lately doing so, a break may do me good!

I'm pretty sure that if the consensus of the management/ coaching staff was that Wahlstedt was the better keeper at this stage he would be picked.

It's obviously a bit concerning that he mustn't have yet demonstrated this in training, u23, and cup games. It was impossible to make a judgement at the Cardiff game as he simply didn't have enough to do. The only thing I would say is that he didn't give the aura of confidence and ownership of the penalty area that I was hoping for. Maybe they just think he isn't quite ready yet, in which case Pears needs to up his game and we need to give him support to build his confidence back up, and hope Wahlstedt is ready to step up sooner rather than later.

I don't think Leo has played any under 21 games, Eastham and Hilton have played the few games this season. He's being judged on training and 2 games where he didn't have THAT much to do. Must be hard for a keeper to make a massive impact in training. Assuming he plays in the cup at Chelsea, you'd expect he's fairly busy that night. Frustrating for the fans but I think it'll be a waiting game on this one.....

Rovers commentators waxing lyrical about Markanday.

Does seem with JDTs recent comments Markanday is properly in line for starting games.

Think Dolan will be slipping down to fourth choice as wide forward behind Siggy, Moran and Markanday.

Something clearly wrong with Dolan. They felt the need to say he's not involved cos he's ill tonight, not sure I believe that.

Is he pissed off because he's seen the stick he's getting on socials from the fans? Sulking about his contract issues?

Either way I'm happy for him to stay away from the first team.

I've just about brought myself to watch the goals from yesterday and what the f*** is Pears doing punching that cross when it's eminently catchable.  I would even be annoyed if he got a decent fist on it but it's like his wrists are made of marzipan.

He does it a lot, its a weird trait more accustomed to continental keepers. Its got no place in the championship and he's got away with it countless times before. You can't even blame the defence for not picking their player up, he could have punched it a metre either side and would have got away with again, but it's basically an assist.

I've been saying for 18 months that I don't think he's ready for a full season in the Championship, he's not got the fitness levels or strength from what I can see. The country went wild after that away performance at Blackpool live on Sky and whilst he's shown flashes of that night in more recent times, he's a long way from the finished article for me.

He's still a bit part player in my eyes being rushed, due to lack of options.

The thing is Gav, there would be absolute outrage amongst our fans if he got benched.

He needs a bit of time out if you ask me, maybe give Buckley a run out. Oh  😕

Yes fair point. If it was Morton making the mistakes he would be getting absolutely murdered.

That said I dont think we ever asked Morton to play as a one man midfield like we are this season. Its hard to think of a more difficult role in football than the one we have put Wharton in. Whartons a special player but its too much to ask as our core tactic imo. We need a more normal setup to play regularly and then we can pick the times to switch to this one man midfield business.

I'm not saying Wharton is a bad player, just that he shouldn't escape criticism, which he is for the most part. He used to skip round challenges and be calm on the ball, never giving it away. Lately he will cost us more goals than he will assist.

Sky purely seem to pick teams towards the top, regardless of how they play. So we’ll hardly be on at this rate… it’ll be PNE fans watching the NYD game at noon and random fixtures on a Saturday night this time if they aren’t careful…

I can live with that, I'd rather not be on Sky.

Preston have already been promoted apparently so they won't bother showing their games.

I think Hyam has been really poor recently and although Carter hasn’t been at his best, I still think there is a good player there. If Scott Wharton is ever going to get a chance to claim a shirt again, it is now.

Dolan is not for me and Markandy looks like a really decent prospect, very tidy but unfortunately, hasn’t got the raw speed we desperately need. I can’t understand why they didn’t take heed from the Girona friendly and sign up their young winger, who doesn’t get a game at senior level.

When you have no confidence in the goalkeeper behind you, it's an issue and will affect performance.

JDT sounds like he rates Hill, suspect he will play before Wharton if he does ok in the cup.

  14. I'm surprised sky aren't tapping us up to get more games on, yet. Our games must be fantastic for a neutral this season! So tough to take the result after the second half fight back, I've seen many Ipswich fans saying we're the best team they played, recurring theme ain't it?

I must admit the first half was absolutely terrible though.

We need Wahlstedt to play decent against Cardiff so he gets the nod against Leicester don't we? Pears made some good saves yesterday but it's just not enough, if you want to punch so much take up boxing lad (probably do better than Joyce last night).

Also, Adam Wharton is getting off very very lightly for me. Granted he's a young un but he's making the mistakes week in, week out that Morton got grief for last season. Let's see what tronstad offers in the cup.....

  15. I wonder how many stewards he's actually got on for the game?  Can't imagine it would be too difficult if someone wanted to get in the Blackburn end with a Waggott Out banner.

Away from this place I never used to see his name getting mentioned much, its definitely being banded about more and more though on various socials.

I honestly don't know how you people who've met with him can calmly sit in the same room, breathing the same air.
