  1. its a sad world allright, but whether its now worse, or just the fact people are now listening to kids when they bring forward complaints and these people are being prosecuted, instead of moving the abusers somewhere else, I dont know. Its also probably reported more as well now
  2. That rape case, doesnt it say 9years for rape and 2 for indecent assualt? What is indecent assualt anyway?
  3. Im surprised you havent mentioned this I wonder why?
  4. Punishments for all driving offences are too lenient, especially when you consider the number of road deaths per year. However, causing death by dangerous driving can be caused by you sneezing at the wrong time, dropping a drinks bottle and other small things leading to some poor sod getting killed. All drivers should be aware that they are only a second away from killing someone, however long they've been driving. On a related note, well done the guy in the Toyota I saw on the M5 this morning, who's SatNav must have obscured the view of the left hand side of the road. as it was at just below the rear view mirror and wasnt a small one. Very safe
  5. Actually, Id rather have a player for next season who's refreshed, relaxed and raring to go, not one who's had 6 days off before preseason starts. I also think hes quite in his rights to flick two fingers at the england setup after his very shabby treatment from McLaren, I mean we know the (limited) ability of Jenas and Dyer, lets see what untested players with a decent season under their belt can do. Instead he gets ignored. its great for Rovers, bad for the under 21's, but not as bad as having Stuart Pearce in charge of them
  6. I wont repeat the expleatives uttered when I saw Jermaine ###### Jenas on the subs bench instead of our Dave. The air turning blue would not describe it. Still a good win, a tad laboured at times but a lot better than Andorra
  7. why not play Beckham at right back and Bentley on the right wing then? (Im not having a go I just dont rate Dyer) Also why not play Fat Frank at the buffet bar and nowhere near the pitch
  8. did you point out who'd ensured that the Sweaties went home in the first round. Again?
  9. http://www.game-warden.com/bsg/ click on downloads - I used this one http://www.thecylonbase.com/index.php?opti...7&Itemid=80
  10. Can I just say I'd rather Jenas in midfield than Frank very overrated and overweight Lampard
  11. I agree with Theno and BluePhil, and who ever suggested the removal of G14 players from international football. The removal of the top 4 teams from the prem would all of a sudden mean that the league was competative again. The TV money will drop, but so will players wages. I would also expect the breakaway league to fail due to the inability of fans to travel around europe every week. I would also expect England to become better because the players who will be picked will actually care about playing and certain egos will not be available to ###### it all up. Let them go and don't let the door hit their arse on the way out
  12. Id want them both in the team with Beckham on the bench
  13. The golden compass?? I dont remember that one in the trilogy
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj9zorr1YSo huuuuuuuurhhhhh Must say the Rambo ones looks like it should be highly amusing and gory still its just not Afghanistan though is it?
  15. if anyone offered you a doubling of your wages for doing the same job, would you except? You'ld have to think long and hard before you refused it, is all I'd say. We get to emotionally attached to players who are, when it comes down to it, people getting paid to do a job. I get tapped up by recruitment consultants every week (god knows why) but im happy where I am, some footballers are, some footballers arent. If they want to leave for "bigger and brighter" or at least sack fulls of cash, then unfortunately I have to say thank you and dont let the door hit your arse on the way out. As long as they try their hardest on the pitch I cant complain. Mr Craig "Ive got no contract honest " Bellamy on the other hand deserves a slap, and then welcomed back with open arms and a better written contract
  16. oh bryan, the hobbit is a great childrens book and the "Silmarillion" is dense badly written and horrible. There was a dent in our old house's living room wall where it got thrown against out of exasperation
  17. Oo Michael Marshall's Strawmen trilogy are great thrillers, if not extreamly disturbing
  18. I like Rankin because there's no staid plot like a number of authors, who after reading a few of their books you can usually work out who's going to be the murderer after about 20 pages. If you like Techno Thriller types ( ie future war stuff ) Eric L Harry's Arc Light and Larry Bond's Red Phoenix are some of the best that I know of. For those sad sci fi geeks like myself, you know who you are, the Horus Heresay series are very hard to put down. If I can wan you off one book though, avoid at all costs the Samurillion by Tolkin. Its JRR's notes on the back storey and a more impenatrable, badly written book that I have ever had the misfortune to read. Bar anything by Irvine Welsh that is
  19. Fatherland is very good, I've not been so sold on Archangel or Pompeii I thought they were let downs after FL and Enigma. I find Enigma is utterly absorbing and one of the best books I've ever read. Someone lent me a few Nelson DeMile's a few months ago, if you like thriller type stuff, they aint half bad. Gordon Steven's (if you can find any by him) books are all engrossing and extreamly well written and if you like crime whodunnits Mark Billingham's well worth having a gander at. Armagedon by Max Hastings is also well worth the time and effort to read through, it tells a storey that most of us on this side of Germany know very little about
  20. So how would you put it Phil, oh expert on child abduction matters, she either wandered away or she was taken, therefore she got herself lost or was stolen. I thought even you might have been able to work that out. Obviously not
  21. I had two issues with it, a bit like you and the star ships - why use small tactical nukes but not the big world killer ones - but it would make for a very dull movie. The other was ripping that claw out of Dizzy's chest - LEAVE IT IN YOU FOOLS. Dizzy, mmmmmm
  22. I'd class it as a Marmite film, you'll eitehr love it or hate it. the same as Tim Burton's "Mars Attacks" of Verhoven's "Starship Troopers" Both of which I thought were genius
  23. it was based on a stylised graphic novel, hitorical accuracy wasnt the aim, a damn good fun/silly film was, and it got it right. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055719/ is a 1960's version - although why the guys on the picture are wearing Roman Helms I dont know?
  24. I agree about Philip Pullman's books, utterly brilliant
