  1. I apologise if that sounded hostile. I dread the day somebody categorises me in the same boat as tnr. I just don't think that Shillito should be criticsed for saying that he didn't feel the friendly was value for money or interesting enough for some people to attend.
  2. Nobody is obligated to attend though, Kimberley. We're all consumers and everybody has the choice. I went to Espanyol but had to work instead of going to Grimsby and couldn't find the motivation to go to Swansea. Yet I went to 36 league games last season and 38 the season before. I don't think friendlies matter and don't have a problem with people who don't attend. I don't feel obliged to go to them all. I don't think they matter at all. Is the attendence problem because of 'people like me'?
  3. I use www.pesfan.com You'll need a MaxDrive or the equivalent to get it from PC to Playstation (assuming that's what it's on). They're only about a tenner now though and it's well worth it. Or steal Pringle's.
  4. I agree. Always seems to have a smile on his face which is good to see. I remember seeing him in a bit of banter with the England fans the other day and you could tell Atherton and Slater were pissing themselves laughing in the commentary box.
  5. That's an absolutely terrible attitude to have. Pro Evo smokes FIFA in every imaginable way when it comes to gameplay. It's a battle between licences, stylish layout and sharp graphics vs gameplay. It's a complete no-brainer. As Lee says, the option files are superb anyway. It's easy enough to do the transfers and there are loads of people who do everything for you.
  6. I don't want to be overly negative but the amount of turn Warne got was scary. Somebody needs to stand up to him and make sure he doesn't get on top of us because the way he made Andrew Strauss look stupid suggested he could restrict us to 200/250 on his own. Vaughan and Bell due a big innings. A couple of 50s would be superb. Have to expect Hoggy to go fairly early on tomorrow morning which means the skipper will be straight in. I'd like him to at least make it to the evening session - even better if Tresco hangs around with him. Tresco has looked excellent against the seamers now that McGrath is gone and fingers crossed can find his first test centuary against the Aussies. Big day for both teams tomorrow. England have the opportunity to put the second innings beyond Australia but that turn was very very worrying. We'll see how well our best players handle Warne very soon. Fingers crossed.
  7. Exactly. For all Norwich's lovely attractive football (which wasn't very apparent in the two matches against us), it didn't do them much good at all when they came to Ewood and took a hammering. I thought in the game away at Spurs we finished the better team and there were one or two moves of complete free-flowing one-touch passing from defence to attack. As the team gets to know each other better and Sparky has more time to gel everybody and instil his ideas, I think the quality of our football will go up dramatically. Still won't get credit for it though.
  8. I'm not quite sure "Buying the rights to a song" is the same as "Buying their album"
  9. That gets played at Ewood all the time during the video packages.
  10. I take partial blame for that one. I took a mate with me because his boss was a big Newcastle fan and he took massive delight in watching them get hammered. He was going to ring him and lay into him and told him to wait until the return leg because they'd probably beat us by even more. Sorry.
  11. Oh dear. I really cringe listening to that. They've done nothing to the original song except butcher it. In fact they've just capitalised on the song being in Kill Bill, stuck a very generic beat on it and waited for the drunks in clubs to go mental when it comes on. I'm not certain how much of a difference the music can have on a team or the fans. It's the same for both sets of players. And the only thing which will light up the crowd will be the performances on the pitch. The song from the other year with the "CLAP CLAP" part every few seconds is dramtic and inspiring but the crowd reacted very lethargically to it.
  12. What penalty does treason incur these days? I'm very uninformed on these kind of matters.
  13. I think it has to be worth noting that JW and the rest will all have business plans far superior to anything anybody on here could have. It's all well and good saying the extra tickets sold at £9 for season ticket holders etc will make up for the loss of revenue but if that was the case then the tickets would be priced accordingly. Nobody at Rovers will be pricing tickets with the primary intention of annoying people. Yes, £15 is a lot of money for a game which isn't competitive, but we've just ousted a host of bigger clubs to the signing of Craig Bellamy after trying to sign South African international and European Cup winner Benni McCarthy. I'm sure the players would love to play in front of more people and it would be sound for more people to see our product before deciding whether to get a season ticket/attend a few more home games this season. This must have been considered when naming the ticket price. Also, the attendances when ticket prices have been heavily reduced will have been duly noted. Rovers fans have a strong history of not turning up to games they don't want to come to regardless of ticket prices. Bournmouth, Gencler etc are evidence of this.
  14. I was under the impression that the policeman was under orders to shoot. If so, it's hardly the case that he 'lost control'. If my orders were to shooot the man I would hardly stop and say "actually I disagree with that decision on an ethical basis and I think you'll find the people on that tube are more than safe with him on board".
  15. As far as I know, it isn't. I think there are four new stadiums, although I could be wrong. Ewood would be about 90th on the list of new ones to put in.
  16. Read this on another forum this morning. Absolutely insane. The most stereotypical right wing headline of all time? This is what the readers of the Express must see:
  17. The style of avoiding questions is actually pretty flawless. If there is something you don't want to answer then avoid it and throw in some sort of insult - nothing too strong. Then the person retaliates to the insult and the good points are forgotten. It's a brilliant way of calling somebody stupid whilst simultaneously avoiding something which might make yourself look stupid. Politicians do it, the dirty liars.
  18. He's naturally left-footed. Never seemed too quick to me but I suppose a few years of training at the academy will have made him much fitter. Takes a decent free kick, although the one he scored against Bolton (I think)a year or two back was more the result of dodgy goalkeeping. He isn't very tall at all. I can't really imagine him as a centre half. His distribution is excellent and more suited to a forward-moving player rather than a centre half. As Alan has already pointed out, he isn't the biggest lad in terms of build either. I imagine him playing at RB the other day was simply a bit of an experiment because we have quite a few left backs who need minutes under their belts.
  19. I'd imagine it is incredibly expensive to get the license for, and, even more damaging, EA will not want anybody else to have the licenece because they're a major selling point for FIFA. So far everything is looking slick. That short corner in particular looks lovely. I re-bought Pro Evo 1 the other day and it's amazing to think how far the series has come in a few years. Pro Evo 5 won't re-define this series of games but it will probably be the best the programmers can get out of the current console. I can only imagine what they can do, graphically and AI-wise, with the PS3.
  20. Poor Jones. He must have had half a mind to drop that after the help (or lack of) he has had from Flintoff and Geraint. I don't give England much chance of chasing now. They had a chance overnight if the last three wickets fell cheaply but Katich played brilliantly and the tailenders survived off a combination of good play and inept fielding. Sad to say, but rain may well have to be the twelvth man. It's a shameful thing to look to but if the top order collapse again then we won't stand a chance. There's always the chance that the world class upper order will pull through for England. 400 runs is not impossible. However, you have to worry chasing 400 when we couldn't chase 200 in the 1st.
  21. I was in a world cup once and the resume button just refused to work after a while. I could access all the stats etc, but it just wouldn't resume, even if I saved, restarted and tried again. Incredibly annoying. Would be a much better game if they ironed out all these flaws.
  22. I shall have to have a go at that later. How many run-outs?
  23. Stopped watching a couple of times and twice I've turned over to see a new batsman being introduced on-screen. I think I shall repeat the process. If these guys are skittled over quickly then the target is makeable but unlikely. I haven't seen enough from our top order to suggest that they can do this, but it wouldn't be impossible. Australia have to be big favourites.
  24. Kev got out swinging, so any runs from Jones/Harmy are a bonus. We aren't a terrible amount of runs behind, but it'll take a special second innings becuase there is no way Australia will bat as badly as they did yesterday.
  25. Are you playing 20/20 cricket? There's a bug in that one where anything 10 or 20 overs is pretty much unplayable because even the weakest players can smash around the strongest bowlers.
