  1. ARE YOU MAD? You must surly have forgotten about Lucas Neil as being the best right back in the world Or John Curtis?! I hold my hands up lads, I forgot about these two. I also forgot about Jonothan Douglas playing at right-back. Still, 4th best in the world. Pretty impressive!
  2. In all fairness, even Duff had to switch wingers to avoid Puyol. I doubt there's a better right-back in the world.
  3. Are you sure you've grasped the concept of Euro 2004 yet?
  4. Just the current Rovers team then? (T4E is Scottish. You should hear his views on the English team after a Saturday night out.)
  5. The name that leaps out from that list there is Gallas on loan. Would absolutely love that. Strong, quick and composed - everything you look for in a centreback.
  6. That is a good point FLB. So how much are we paying him? I hear its around 50 grand a week! Souness out!
  7. I move that we pin this statement and be done with all this arguing.
  8. all you have to do is look a few posts up to find that it has already been talked about. It says we have make a bid for MGP That article is ever more worrying. K30m is nearly £2.5m. Looks like we're going to have to pay full whack to secure his services. Could well limit how much money we have for the other midfielder and central defender.
  9. That equates to roughly £2.3m if my currency-converter-website-finding skills are upto scratch. If this is true then we realy are going for it. The lad must be a bit special.
  10. and i'll give you a million if dikov scores 30 goals next season. Dikov or Dickov?
  11. Waggy- how can you possibly compare Sir Alex's careful nuturing of youth players over half a decade in some cases before gradually blooding them in the team, usually after loan deals at other clubs with your call to spontaneously throw in the youngsters, presumably just for the hell of it? The approach you suggested is infintely less subtle and potentially far more damaging to the players than anything Ferguson would put his name to. beg to differ, the 3rd premiership season fergie started with all his youngsters, they got hammered 3-1 at villa and hansen said YOU WIN NOWT WITH KIDS,which utd did, they won the league, yes beckham went to preston, and the nevilles and scoles to bury or stocprt, but were have danns-donnely-harkins etc been in the last few years. David Beckham, the Nevilles and Paul Scholes are all England internationals with undoubted pedigree as layers of the highest calibre. This was apparent as soon as they were all about 19 years old. The fact that they lost in their first game (first post-Cantona game) is immaterial. I'll give you £500 if Danns is good enough to go on to be England captain.
  12. As things stand, as soon we sign/bring up a decent player, Chelsea or Man Utd will take them off our hands for a wdege of cash. We are no longer contenders. Deal with it. Everyone here would love to see Duff, the old Jansen, Henry etc. in our shirt, but it isn't going to happen. We can't go and sign Schnijder, Van Der Vaart, Ronaldinho and Thuram, so we have work within our limits, and not keep thinking we're going to go for the Champions League. Tell me, where are these fantastic players we can get for 50p, and bring back those days ?. It's all about being satisfied with what we can get, and sadly it isn't Henry. Andy C- that is the biggest pile of crap I've ever read. First, back when we had players like jansen, duff and dunn we were in DIVISION 1!! Now souness has brought his own squad in and despite a bad season last season, this is the best squad of players we have had since king kennys team. Back to the Kidd days?? What planet are you on, we are signing the like of van buyten and a young prospect called Moten Pederson! Also, you say we lose an exciting team who were unpredictable. Well i would rather rovers played boring football every game and still won every game than play the best football and be unpredictable. And what the hell are you talking about when you say you would rather have yorke than dickov. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN YORKE PLAY!! I feel you are saying this so you can be, as Pringle said to waggy ,'The controversial one' Yes we were in division one. We then went on to win the Worthington Cup and finish 10th with largely the same players (and Andy Cole). You're only as good as your last game (how often has that been said here in the past week?), and we were better in 2002/03 than 2003/04 - so how can we have our best squad since Kenny? We haven't signed Pedersen or van Buyten yet. There's nothing to suggest we are millimetres away from it either. Our "boring" football has not won us every game, and the addition of Dickov will not change that. Nor have they won more games than the "exciting, unpredictable" team that we had when the starlets were shining through. "And what the hell are you talking about when you say you would rather have yorke than dickov. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN YORKE PLAY!!" In the season where we finished 6th, we won something like 8 of the games he scored in. Yorke occsionally looks like the player who was so good for Man Utd, and its great to watch. Even this season he has scored a few important goals, most notably at the Reebok. Andy C has listed Dickov's merits, and they are attractive enough. I would rather have Dickov than Yorke because I think next season he will score more goals. However, I fully see his point of view because every so often Yorke would help us play a wonderful brand of football. Nothing contraversial at all. Football is all about opinions.
  13. Billy, to be fair I don't think he's asking that we sign Henry. More making a point that we developed our youth players and bought for the future. The difference now is that we don't have Duff and Dunn coming out of the youth team, so naturally we'll have to make do with a less-exciting team.
  14. how many years ago,and what division Well how about this season when we lost 2-0? He came on as sub and the whole stadium went mental. This gave the players the required lift to score twice.
  15. yourcodenameis:milo EP All Roads To Fault dropped through t'letterbox this morning. Pretty impressed so far~~
  16. Thats a new one! So far its, Jimmy Hill, Bruce Forsyth, Johnny Woodgate, Dawson from Dawsons creek, the stupid tall one off My Family and Love Actually and now, James Beattie And Desperate Dan. And Olaf Mellberg
  17. Todd is far from an awful defender. He has an awful attitude. There's a difference. I think his petulant actions have made everybody overlook the fact that he's been our best player this season.
  18. Thats ridiculous logic. If he hadn't played comparitively well then our defence would have been even worse and we may have been the ones propping up the table. For the record I don't think he's as good as Amo, Nissa or Shorty, but lets face it, if it wasn't for him then we may well be relegated by now.
  19. I'm feeling confused now. Did I sleep with her or not?
  20. A typical newbie comment. Sorry Todd, I didn't mean to insult your girlfriend Alan Smith. But really, the guy plays a GAME for a living and he cries because he's getting relegated? Yes relegation must be a gutting feeling, but its not like his playing career is over with. At any rate, if he'd have given his all throughout the season, maybe he wouldn't be in this position...I doubt it, but you never know... There's probably only a handful of players in the world who give their all more than Alan Smith.
  21. Call that an apology?! We've scored seven goals! 4+1+1=7. I must inform UCAS of this. Emerton didn't blast home a simple second against Everton??
  22. Call that an apology?! We've scored seven goals!
  23. That's ridiculous. What did they think you were going to do with it? The (bar)stewards at Chelski wouldn't let me in at the bridge with a plastic bottle until I had disposed of the top. Excellent interview though Alan and thanks to Tim for participating Had the same problem at Chelsea. Weird really. Bottles with tops on can presumably be used as missiles, especially if filled to the top with...I dunno...mercury or something. Bottles without tops can't be thrown at the pitch/players because it would just result in the people in front of you getting annoyed for soaking them with...well mercury if we're using the same logic.
  24. Just something I've noticed from one or two posts on here: Why are we all taking about a "profile" manager? Ruud Gullit is a profile manager. Bryan Kidd is a profile manager. Graham Taylor is a profile manager. Surely if you're making your wishlist it should be a manager with pedigree, which is a completely different thing. There is no formula for success with a manager. rover6 has infamously suggested Paul Sturrock for us before. He isn't a "profile" manager. Why will the bigger-named Bryan Robson be a better choice for manager? Who is to say if Arsene Wenger came to the club we'd do any better? Who is to say that nobody could come in and change the team around, simply because they don't have the "name" of Graeme Souness? If GS goes then we probably won't be able to attract a big-name manager. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. So when I read all this "well we aren't big enough to get a profile manager now" (DavidMailsTightPerm being the most recent example) I wonder why people even bother saying it. If there was a table of managers and picking the one nearest the top gave you the most success then I'd be worried. Players don't want to play for a small name? Fine then, get lost. Players who won't play for an unknown manager are a waste of a shirt. Who is to say John Coleman couldn't fire a rocket up Brett Emerton's backside and get him playing like the classy player we thought we'd signed? Anybody with an ounce of professionalism will play for pride and their team, and most importantly respect any boss. So how pointless is all this dead-end arguing? You can list a manager's credentials and gasp at how many medal's they've won in a glittering playing career. It won't make them the best man for Blackburn Rovers. If, say, Bruce Rioch was manager (sic) and this was happening, I bet somebody would be saying "we need somebody strong like Graeme Souness to get the players out of this". GS carries the buck. If his players (and this is very much his squad) aren't performing then its both his fault and theirs. He was the best man for the job three years ago, he could very well be the best man now. So stop whining and bloody support the man. Or draw another name out of the hat and groundlessly claim that they would be a better choice.
