1. Bellamy must play, resting him is ludicrous. He is in full stride right now a rest may do more harm than good. I'd start him for sure if we get a comfy lead then pull him later.

    392925

he might only need to play for the first 20 minutes. laugh.gif

i expect him to fill his boots.

forget rovers away day blues (& i've been to most of them), i cant see anything other than a rovers win.

sunderland are the worst prem team i've ever seen (that includes swindon and kidd's rovers team), its just a question of the margin of victory.

    sunderland 0-6 rovers (bellamy, 5, 17, 20) (pongolle 54) (admiral nelson 71) (reid 89)

  2. I think Reid is far more important to the team than many people give him credit for. How many times is he the only mid-field player with the pace and stamina to get back to help out the defence - and then two minutes later be up the field in attack.

The Middlesborough matches was one of his best in centre-mid (imo) he showed some  creativity and good passing ability.

If he conitinues to develop we will have a very good player at the club. Personally I agree with the comparison with Gerrard - they both have pace, passion and athletisism - but as has been mentioned Reid doesn't have a consistently good first touch. But personally I feel that is improving - and I am sure will continue to improve under Hughes.

before i start i must say... it's nothing personal, i've met him (@ a couple of parties) &talked at length with him, he's a genuinely nice and witty fella.

reid is a fantastic athlete, limited footballer. the comparison with gerrard is ..... lets say... generous!

he had his best game in a rovers shirt against boro and i must say he's improved no end. think he's reached his peak though and this is a good as he will get.

cash in quick. he sounds up for a move and my offer to piggy back him to old trafford still stands.

  3. chelsea is going to be moved if they beat newcastle, or so i was told

so that means no 3pm kick offs on saturdays

    BUT

if man city hinges on us getting into CL or even UEFA i would expect a good blackburn following

Chelsea will bring a lot because of the new chelsea fans around this area

Liverpool bring 8k, plus a few pick n choose rovers fans coming.

Wigans the only downer, if we can get over 20k , job done

    392504

agreed. wigan is a sky game and amazingly the 'pie eaters' have been given the whole of the darwen end !? blink.gif

i expect a similar following to the 1 bolton brought.

this, tv, monday night, coupled with chelsea not being a saturday game, could really kill the bet.

that said; city and the scousers' 8000, will ensure it's a close run thing.

  4. the only brum player i'd want- is sutton (if fully fit etc........).

might be the pot calling the kettle but... peter reid reckons pennant cant be trusted. he's said on soccer saturday that pennant drinks way too much!

JP must bath in it if 'monkeys head' is worried!

staggering stat.- brum's last goal from open play was alonso's og @ anfield! laugh.gif

hoping against hope that they can rouse themselves and beat bolton.

doubt it though. theyre going down faster than a turd in a lift!

  5. Not at all! The quote was a fixed price...any extra cost would be shouldered by the contractor! hence they have lost shitloads building it!

    392098

watching SS NEWS yesterday evening didnt fill me with any confidence. the builders interviewed looked like del boys and they were stuggling to find a brain cell between em.

shouldve got northern builders to build it. southern bias again!

  6. It's absolute rubbish that waggy and you can tell em so.  Last 2 weeks we have been on £15 tickets ffs!  Transparent gits!  Do you think that if we get relegated to whichever league it is that averages £300 per week that they would go then?  Would they bollokxk.  They'd say 'I'm not paying good money to watch that conference shyte!'

Truth is they are searching for excuses to spend as much of their £300 quid on ale as possible.  How many times do people say 'if fags go up again in the budget I'm packing in!'  and never do.... Well its the same with ale.  Their kids kids will simply end up supporting Man Utd.  I bet when they are in Benidorm and somebody mentions footy they'll be the biggest Rovers fans the world has ever seen.

    392011

    agree with everything you say.

these people cant really call themselves fans. they are the opposite of fanatical.

    apathy makes me furious!

  7. rover.gif i asked previously when was the last time rovers WON WITH TEN MEN anyone know tinykit.gif

    391952

cant remember one in recent times.

fought back to draw with bolton (a) twice, when cole and reid have been sent off.

similar resolve shown on saturday. bellamy is def. the 2nd best striker we've had (in my lifetime). we're lucky to have him. i'm pleased the rovers are showing their appreciation (vocally). it has taken some people time!

the only disappointment was the crowd. 18000 home fans is abysmal, no matter the entrance fee.

  8. Was thinking this as well. A draw, coupled with The Arse, Bolton losing and us winning would be a good result. laugh.gif

    391401

i want brum to win. if spurs are sunk and we win, we'll be level.

peoples love of rovers should come first over their hatred of brum or any other team!

  9. Bit of a cheek? I think that's putting it mildy, I would call it downright hypocrisy. Playing on the anniversary is ok if it helps their European campaign but now they are out of Europe they want the match moving again. Grrr.

    391375

    spot on. wink.gif

it amazes me that the genuine LFC fans havent seen through it.

(i'll have a word with 'scouser brown' tonight and gage the opinion of the shell suits).

rick parry has insulted the memory, of the 96, far more than playing a match on april 15th ever will.

    hope karma gets him!

  10. Tony Parkes was 10 years overdue for sacking.  Nice man but was seen as too much a permanent fixture and therefore a safe person to run to.  It's telling that Hughes (as an ex-player) made his going a priority.  He'd probably seen how divisive his influence could be and decided it wouldn't happen with him.

    391087

i see through his 'nice guy' image. his quotes when souness left were staggering and couldve led to legal action.

"i was having breakfast with GS and it came up on sky sports news"

    malicious nonsense.

also some people have fogotten, TP was forcing jansen, dunn and duff out of the club. he never played them. that wouldve been catastrophic.

    TP looked after TP.

MH deserves more backing, by the board and the public. he's an oustanding manager and BRFC are lucky to have him.

  11. it's liverpool, one of the best supported teams in the land. if 1 million fans boycott the game, there's 2 million ready to take their places.

8000 darwen end seats will be filled. lets hope the home areas are.

  12. Im rooting for Fulham to win their first away win of the season later! Correct me if im wrong, Fulham are currently the only team in all divisions in England not to win a single away game yet.

    390582

2 teams in britain not to win away yet- 'harrods' and brechin city! fancy sharing a record with them laugh.gif

gerrard's cockup dropped us a place, i'm hoping the shell suits loose their nerve.

steven gerrard the most boring man in football. never smiles! couldve done more to help that foreign bird when she fainted! typical scouser! and i knw a few.

    shame on you sir.

  13. reason he's on is, souey is a fantastic media man. he is opinionated and talks a good game. i enjoy his annicdotes much more than most on sky. i'd much rather listen to him than partridge, bruce, both redknapps or glenda hoddle!

he'd be a much better manager if he embraced the fitness and man management styles of the moment, instead of the late 80's early 90's.

i hold no grudges against the guy and believe his cosmet surgery has been worth every penny. wink.gif

  14. This is a m/b run by, and for, the fans of Blackburn rovers.

Anyone who is interested enough to post, is more than welcome as long as they abide by the posting guidelines. That is the only restriction.

Never been any different, has it?

    389811

correct, as always den. although some use mb as an excuse to squabble away the dawn, most on here are true rover's fans, regardless of geography. there's no bandwagon to jump on when it comes to BRFC.

    i enjoy the debate.

its very easy to be controversial, because nobody is!

  15. Garner seems to have lost his way of late but I'm sure he'll be back. Raff De Vita has made more of an impact since featuring for the reserves.

    389813

de vita looks decent, like the player grabbi shouldve been.

as for garner, is my fowler comparison way off ? looks a finisher to me!

  16. There is quite a lot of flexibility in there. As at Tottenham Reid and Bentley can switch around depending upon whether we desire combat or skill in the middle of the park.

i'm going over old ground! sav and reid cant play together. who's going to pass the ball (forward) ?

lets not forget, we only started playing well at spurs when bentley was moved into the middle.

be great if someone find the stats (of when reid and sav play in the middle). doubt we've won (m)any !

*i would, but i'm off for a beer or 12*

  17. LET mentiones that we are being with the out of contract in summer - Mario Melchiot - thoughts on him anyone?

    389515

hmmm..... maybe the club are bracing themselves for a big bid for lucas ? wouldnt suprise me.

the LET isnt that reliable a source and you never usually hear about any of MH's signings before they're done (to stop vultures pinching em).

his age and wages worry me, squad player only.

wouldnt touch forsell. he looked good before he got a contract but, whether it's inj. or laziness, he doesnt look up to it.

    look no further than benni.

  18. there seems to be a difference of opinion , amongst many, on how good this guy is.

whenever i've seen him, he's looked like he's got bags of ability and a finisher (in the fowler mould?)

i've not seen him this year and he got a slating on here for his displays in the youth cup. was he a flash in the pan or someone who'll make an impact?

would like to here from anyone whose seen him lately/ or on a regular basis.

  19. although david is still learning the game, he has more awareness, team ethic and end product than joe cole had at his age. what might let him down is his strenghth, but than can be worked on.

bentley is an outstanding technical footballer and you cannot dispute his ability.

he seems to enjoy playing for blackburn rovers and i enjoy watching him.

  20. lets not lose sight of the fact that we have over-achieved and are punching above our weight... in terms of some of our players.

I'm most worried about the Pompey and Sunderland matches, as they are the type we always seem to drop points on.

    388640

that's my fear (west brom and everton scenarios), 4th would be great (nevermind the games, think of the cash) and is still poss.

i'dve taken top 10 if you'dve offered it after the bolton and newcastle games in early season.

    what a turnaround.
