  1. Isn't this his second red card of the season? If I remember correctly he got a 3 match ban for headbutting someone..

There are alot of players who have played well and then suddently started to play worse and worse..

Todd is a typical old fasion English centre half, no brains, no pace, no skill with the ball, just playes on his physique..

You understand you're on an English board right? You couldn't be more offensive if you tried wink.gif

  2. Soccernet's The Insider has another horribly one-sided review of the match.  mad.gif

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature?id=350365&cc=4716

Savage is the "Premiership's most theatrical performer "

"No footballer likes to see another cheating in a bid to get a player sent-off, but Blackburn's midfield maestro thinks nothing of it "

yea, I am sure Soccernet's blue-eyed boys: Ruud, Pires, & Ronaldo never dived in their lives. They always

"Savage spent most of the second half lambasting referee Foy about every decision that went against him, but his manager bizarrely rejected the chance to dismiss his first half antics"

Hughes should have knelt down on his knees and asked forgiveness for Savage's playacting  mad.gif

I wouldnt normally care but the fact is that Soccernet is pretty well read throughout the world and such articles may very well create enemies for us among people who have never seen us play

I think the guy is in love with Robbie Savage, he'll run up to him and push him down in the playground any minute now biggrin.gif

  3. He has a clause in his contract that if a Champions League team comes in for him he can go for £xm (an amount I'm not too sure about). With his performances this season he must be on the wish list of most top teams.

Having said that I agree he does seem happy here, but the draw of more money and European football probably would be too much for the lad.

  4. Just reflecting on Curbs comments on  MOTD, when he criticised the ref and linesman for missing Dickovs 'offside' goal.

    1.  It was very close to call and imo when the ball was played it was definitely headed and not deflected by the Charlton defenders head.  Therefore it was 'played on'.

    2.  Although Dickov was just in front of the first defender at the time the ball was played the replay showed that the linesman could not see 'air' in between them.

    3. Unless there was selected editing he made absolutely no mention of the nailed on handball that both ref and linesman missed.  He needs to rem it could and should have been 5!

....and the fact we bagged two more after the incident wink.gif

  5. They're a disiplined defensive unit who hit teams on the break with two quick, relatively skillful forwards. They're obviously well coached defensively and at set pieces - as I've said numerous times whilst Souness was in charge, you can teach monkeys to defend well (which made you wonder what they did in training!). It's dire football, but effective. They'll get found out by the more creative teams later on in the season, but they'll probably pick up enough points to stay in the top half come the end.

  6. Surprised no-one has mentioned Emerton's shocking miss of the open goal from Bellamy's cross. I'm not having a go at Bret as he scored a screamer, I just think the sublime cross from Craig highlights his quality. Could any of our other strikers do that, I don't think so. We're a different team when he's on the pitch - we can play it on the floor, go out wide, pass through the middle, or simply bang it up to Kuqi/over the top. The problems he poses for the opposition is great to watch. As somebody has said, he's our Henry, just hope he can stay healthy.

As for the game, well it was great wasn't it. I commented to my dad about the fact we can play the rough stuff and the silky stuff, not too many teams in the league can do them both. You've got to admire the job Hughes has done, he's made a very fit cohesive unit out of very average players with a few quality ones thrown into the mix (Tugay, Bellamy, Nelsen). Very impressed!
