  1. Went here on Saturday night. The Red Cat, Blackburn Rd. Whittle-le-Woods Not swanky like the Pines or Shaw Hill but still very nice, relaxed with excellent service and first class food.
  2. Elwaxo has first shout Jaybee. If anything changes, I'll let you know.
  3. I remember it. Wasn't that the Southampton live Cup game Waggy? Was it you?!!
  4. The people in the picture are as follows BACK ROW:- (Left to Right):- Mike Rathbone, Derek Fazackerley, Glenn Keeley, Micky Speight, Paul Round, Kevin stonehouse, Joe Craig. CENTRE ROW:-Mick Heaton, Duncan McKenzie, Tony Parkes, Jim Arnold, John Butcher, Simon Garner, Jim Branagan, David Cunningham. FRONT ROW:- Noel Brotherston, Russell Coughlin, Howard Kendall, Roger De Vries, Andy Crawford, Brian Morley. Hope that helps.
  5. Red Cat at Heapey/Wheelton is supposedly excellent. (I've not tried it) but expensive. The Pines Hotel & Shaw Hill Country Club in Whittle-le-Woods are more traditional and do decent food in nice surroundings.
  6. Going back to that night at at Oxford - 4 of us got on the special train at Bamber Bridge and it was absolutely packed. I think we stood up until Crewe. Then (I think) some people were booted off cos they didn't have tickets. We eventually found seats, two of which just happened to be next to the bloke who went berserk. If I remember rightly, there were special buses at Oxford station that took us to the Manor ground. What a brilliant night. The journey home is a bit of a blur, thanks to the never ending supply of beer in the guardsvan. One of us managed to honk up through the carriage door window. What a pity the window was shut.(Wiggy, mention it to Carrot on Friday). Anyway it must have been about 1.30-2.00 am when we all fell out of the train back in B/Bridge. All we had to do now was get home to Leyland & Croston for another celebration drink and then off to work. Ouch my head hurts.
  7. I've got one. 44"-46" Chest. Condition generally OK. Lettering has lost one or two small specks of colour in the wash(See pic)
  8. Works Ok for me Waggy. Is your problem the link to You Tube or getting the video clip to run?
  9. Rovers v Crystal Palace 5-4 victory Sound slightly out of sync. Sorry.
  10. Just uploaded Rovers v Barnsley 1989 - Simon Garner hat trick
  11. Yep. That sounds familiar. Now't wrong wi' that mate. How empty would life be without memories? Pub time. bye for now.
  12. Cheers Ozzie, good stuff. A question - You mentioned Big Bill Gornall – I don’t know him but are his parents called Peter & Kate & used to have the Rose & Crown in Farington? I remember going to Brum & Man.City. Brum was a good day & a great result but a bit dodgy afterwards. We drove from the ground, down to a roundabout. There were at least a couple of hundred yobs swarming around ready for action. Time to activate the ‘escape routine’ - hide colours, lock doors, foot down and no stopping for the next 50 miles. It worked a treat. You're right about the Man City fans bazzing missiles at us all the time. The favourite projectiles were tin cans, flattened so they had sharp, jagged edges. One zapped within a whisker of my lughole and hit the bloke behind me. And that narrow cobbled alley at the Platt Lane end was just a minefield of dog turds. By the way, the Rovers scorer in the 1-1 draw with Oldham was in the unlikely form of full back, Jim Branagan against his former club. Slalom D, strongish brew - knew you'd had a pint. I've always been told Joe Hall sells the best pies in Chaaarley.
  13. Only a vague recollection of the Carlisle game, Ozzie. Did Miller score a pearler? More 84-85 snippets, please.
  14. Thanks Fife Brian Potter - I've got the Barnsley goals
  15. IF I get time, I've got some recordings (the Man. city game & all sorts of stuff from news items). I need a bit of help to get me on the way. I've got a DVD recorder. Trouble is when I've recorded tapes to DVD, the disc will work only in the DVD recorder. It wont work on another player or even in the PC drive. Why???? (The discs are DVD -R but don't have to be).
