I think you will actually find Eustace sees that game as a win for him and Rovers. Source is Elliott Jackson's podcast Arte Et Labore last week episode
Does he really, that’s a surprise!
I don’t blame him for claiming it, who wouldn’t, but you and him certainly wouldn’t have been pinning a defeat in that game on him.
Anyway, it’s old ground now, so let’s move on, but nice one Johnno for what could prove a vital three points.

Because he isn’t really deserving of a start for me. Since coming back he’s been his usual technically good but lackadaisical self, not really what you want in a relegation fight.
-
Chadster really won’t let go of giving JE the Stoke game. 😅
End of the day it was three points, but not a chance JE would’ve been charging to the technical area from the posh seats if we’d have been 2-0 down at half time.

We’ll see. I can certainly see him rocking up at a Birmingham or a West Brom or a Watford etc etc… and JDT has already achieved more on a budget in this division than half the obscure folk these clubs appoint.

I think he might do ok back in Scandinavia, but I’m not convinced he’ll get another chance on these shores.
He was undoubtedly more sinned against than sinner, but you are right to say that he was stubborn, and I firmly believe he was cut a great deal of slack because of his persona.
If he wants another Championship gig I wager he’d get one.
There’s probably going to be 80-100 managerial changes in this mad division over the next five years - and this guy actually has experience of largely doing well in this league too, plus cups (until said wheels).

Terribly cruel to not start the same XI, but also very cruel to not make changes.
Tortured soul is our Phil.

No I don’t funnily enough… but too many draws can often send you down, especially considering we’ve burned through a heap of more ‘winnable’ games and now have far more ’on paper’ difficult matches coming up.
I’m stating the bleeding obvious but bugger everybody’s stats because we stay up he’s done his job, we go down he’s failed, simple as that.

If we get enough points to stay up he will have done his job, however he gets them.
Agreed, which was my point. He will have only done close to a great job if he accrues enough points to keep us up - and he’ll need wins to do that (the first one on Monday was very timely, let’s try and almost put it to bed with another tomorrow).
No prizes in ‘making us solid’ with clean sheets and not losing many if too many draws lead to relegation.

It’s interesting as kids football is still doing well, but yes, big drop off by adult ages.
-
Surely enough points on the board are the only metric that says you are doing a good job of not? You could draw every game 0-0 but go down… but think of the unbeaten run and clean sheets!

Most ‘stick’ he’s got is due to him not winning a game until Monday.
Obviously most of said stick will soon dissipate if he wins a couple more this month, as though they aren’t a priority for the club itself, for most fans it’s a results business.

Branthwaite was 18, a tough gig being thrown in the Championship. Always every chance he would improve.

Yep, the away support is excellent these days.
Apart from places that are a right arse to get to like south Wales, we as standard will take c1k minimum everywhere (and obviously plenty more often) for an afternoon game.

To be fair it’s a standard thing at most (normal) clubs. You will often see legends in club blazers in hospitality, at events etc. It’s a nod to a proper heritage. Gives the club gravitas, continuity through generations.
However, here everything is done half arsed, so I’ll believe it when I see it, especially with someone that lives a long distance away. File with ‘we are looking into it’ example #764

Who disagrees what the fans should get behind the side? And they do, good fans here regardless of what a lot of fools on social media/the LT comments say.
-
A lot of the fanbase however don’t have any other Rovers thoughts apart from match day so it will go down a treat with plenty.

Good for you.
That's officially known as a waggotesque mindset I believe
Unfortunately not, as I didnt put anything on… hopefully I’ll spot it next time though.

So like I said a sin against fandom. The ‘principle’ sin.
Yeah still think I’d take the 2k if it’s all the same.

‘But Bolton is a bigger borough, something, something’.

Staying in games and grinding out wins isn’t lucky. We won plenty like that in ‘95.
Hallmark of a team with character.

Does make me laugh, proper pearl clutching.
’I best not win that 2k because I’ll have committed a sin against fandom’

If it’s value, then why not. Nothing shameful about it, whole point of betting (or any stock/currency market) is finding value.
I certainly should’ve backed us to go down when we were 20+/1, huge value.

At 29 is he going to do much better than a bottom half PL side?
I’d say he’d be happy with that (with the trebling of his wages too, so setting him up for life with his last big contract too)
